Lenovo’s first stylus-equipped smartphone, the Vibe Max, rumored for MWC 2015 launch

Lenovo-p1-p1-pro-x3-s1

Just yesterday, we reported that Lenovo could possibly launch five new handsets at Mobile World Congress 2015 including the Vibe Shot, Vibe X3, P1, P1 Pro and Vibe S1. But there seems to be another rumor floating around, hinting that a sixth handset will be announced as well. According to the Thai tech website MXPhone that leaked the original rumor, Lenovo will also launch the Vibe Max, the company’s first stylus-equipped smartphone.

The report states that the Vibe Max will be the largest handset out of the six, and will feature a 6-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. It will also come with a stylus called the AnyPen. There are no specific details regarding the AnyPen features quite yet, but we’re assuming it will have similar features to Samsung’s S-Pen. Moreover, the Vibe Max is also rumored to have a fingerprint sensor, NFC capabilities and a very large battery.

Unfortunately for now, we don’t have any images of the Vibe Max, but we’ll be sure to update this post if any photos surface. Lenovo certainly wants to be a big hit at the trade show this year, and we’re incredibly excited to see what they have to offer. Android Authority will be on the floor at MWC 2015, so stay tuned for all of the latest news from Lenovo and all the other OEMs that will be in attendance at the trade show.

Five cheap Windows tablets you should check out

We’ve got dug up some excellent cheap Windows tablets that are worth a gander.

It’s easy to get swept up in the absolute best Windows tablets that are available, but more often than not, we’re at least a little concerned with how much money we spend on our new toys. Here we’ve rounded up some of our favorite cheap Windows tablets available. These inexpensive Windows tablets may not break the bank, but they’ll meet your basic needs and then some. The ones we’re looking at are under $300, and some will even be under $200. Whether or not that threshold counts as “cheap” or not is relative, but we should have a little something here for everybody.

Microsoft eyeing Dropbox users with 100GB of OneDrive storage offer

microsoft_onedrive_dropbox_offer_100gb_022015

Companies with cloud storage services can always provide more space to retain existing users or pry others away from the competition. Right now, current Dropbox users can move over to OneDrive and receive 100GB of storage at no cost for one year. Taking advantage of this offer will require both Dropbox and Microsoft accounts. Once Microsoft verifies everything, a document for new OneDrive users will be added to Dropbox. Then Microsoft will freely add 100GB of storage to OneDrive to confirm completion.

The promotion is designated for people in the United States; however, select international users are seeing identical results.

Introducing MacRumors Giveaways: Win a Nomad Lightning Cable

Today we’re debuting giveaways on MacRumors, a new feature that will see us partnering up with companies to give away products to our readers. You can expect to see giveaways from us on a regular basis throughout the year.

For our first giveaway, we’ve partnered up with Kero, a company that makes a few awesome accessories for iOS devices, like the Nomad Lightning Cable. The Nomad cable is a three-inch Apple-certified Lightning cable that comes equipped with a USB cap that attaches to a key ring or clip for portability.

If you’ve been a long-time MacRumors reader, you might recognize the Nomad, because we’ve covered it on a few occasions since it first originated on Kickstarter in 2012. There have been several iterations of the Nomad cable since then, and it now comes in three colors: white, blue, and gray.

keronomad
We’re giving away 50 Nomad Lightning Cables. You can enter to win using the Rafflecopter widget below. You’ll need to enter an email address, which we’ll only use to contact you if you’ve won (your email address will never be provided to a third-party). Social media accounts are not required to enter the contest, but following us on Twitter or Facebook or subscribing to our newsletter can give you a chance for extra entries. You must be 18 or older to enter and located in the United States.

Winners will need to respond to our email within 48 hours, or another winner may be chosen.

Virgin’s small-cell networks to improve 4G coverage in the UK’s biggest cities

The UK government has been pretty vocal about carriers needing to improve network coverage in rural areas, but that’s not to say everything’s hunky-dory in some of the UK’s biggest cities. That’s why Virgin Media Business — the part of Branson’s empire that deals with broadband infrastructure and the like — is combining its fibre network with wireless expert Arqiva’s knowhow to improve 4G coverage in cities including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and Southampton. To do this, the pair will install small-cell technology (which, incidentally, EE is using to bring coverage to underserved rural regions) in “street assets” such as lampposts and CCTV cameras. These mini-masts will increase network capacity and improve 4G coverage in areas where buildings can get in the way of the signal. When the small-cell systems are up and running, the idea is carriers will pay Virgin and Arqiva to access them. That should be an easy sell, however, since they can immediately improve 4G services for their customers, no new infrastructure investment required.

Samsung shows us what happens when Australians go shark diving with Gear VR

samsung_gear_vr_user_looking_around

Things are rather dry in the center of Australia. The country is surrounded by water, but the Alice Springs region is a desert and that means some people may have a hard time ever seeing the ocean. Samsung, though, brought the ocean to the people in the form of virtual reality. The company opened a swim shop in the Alice Springs region that allowed people to come in, put on the Gear VR headset, and go diving with sharks. The participants were shocked to learn upon taking off the headset that the Galaxy Note 4 was powering the experience.
