[Deal] Motorola extends $100 off Valentine’s sale to February 17
Motorola has been running a $100 off promotion that was supposed to end tomorrow, February 14, but they have decided to extend it to February 17. That’s three more days to come up with the dough to buy a shiny new device.
How it works is that as long as you make a purchase of $499.99 or more from Motorola, they will knock off $100 ($35 off for $249.99 or more). No coupon code required.
You can buy a Moto X, or any combination of a Moto G, Moto E, Moto 360, and / or accessories. Just make sure the total is at least $499.99 for the $100 discount or $249.99 for a $35 discount. Unfortunately the Nexus 6 is not included in the deal.

Mattel brings VR to the newest View-Master, based on Google Cardboard
Mattel and Google held a little event this morning in New York City, and as expected, they unveiled a new view-master. The first view-master was launched in 1940, and with over 200,000 reels released, it was one of the most popular toys for many years. But it wasn’t just a toy as it was also used to train pilots and doctors. Now it’s entering the virtual reality (VR) world.
When Mattel saw Google Cardboard, they knew it was the next generation of the view-master. Just like Google Cardboard, it will work with smartphones and whatever apps that are designed for it in the Play Store. Mattel will offer their own custom app as well. The new view-master will be compatible with Android at first, but support will come to iOS and Windows.
But don’t say goodbye to the traditional view-master reels as they will also be available for this device. The difference is they will now provide 360 degree views, which Mattel calls them “360 degree photospheres.”
Google sees this as an opportunity to bring VR to the younger audience. You can expect development to kick off big time.
The new view-master will go for $30 and will become available this fall. Reels will also be available for $15 for a set of 4 and include exclusive content.

Google Maps lane guidance reaches 15 new European countries
Google’s beloved Maps service recently had its 10-year birthday. It’s been a long road, if you pardon the pun, and it’s amazing to see how far this intrepid project has gone.
But Google definitely isn’t sitting back yet. Starting immediately, the new lane guidance feature in Maps will now be delivering instructions to drivers in 15 new European countries. The feature has been available to certain markets, like the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom to name a few, since last year.
If you’re a resident of one of these new locations and are running at least Maps 8.0, you should be noticing lane guidance as of now.
Google’s lane guidance is exactly what it sounds. If you are on the road and are nearing an exit or turn, lane guidance will give you advanced warning of which lane you need to be in so you can better prepare for your turn-off. This should help alleviate the user from needing to frantically scramble across multiple lanes of traffic for their exit.
The 15 new countries are as follows:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Finland
- Greece
- Hungary
- Liechtenstein
- Luxembourg
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Portugal
- Sweden
- Switzerland
As mentioned, there have been a few European countries that have already had this service, which Talk Android covered back in December. Citizens of France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and the UK are the ones who have had this feature already.
No word yet on whether or not this feature will be expanding to Middle-Earth… (Insert cheesy “You shall not pass!” joke here, roll on snare drum.)

Fleksy Keyboard Adds New Themes, Extensions, and Valentine’s Day Content [iOS Blog]
Fleksy yesterday announced an update to its popular, and record-breaking, third-party iOS keyboard that brings along a slew of new customizable Extensions and Themes, including a few that tie in with the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday this weekend.
The specific Valentine’s Day theme will be free to all Fleksy users on February 14, and Fleksy is also introducing a “Heartpops” extension that animates a colorful heart with every keypress.
In the 5.2 update, the company is also making a few broader additions to expand the Fleksy experience. The most notable additions include a new “Energy Theme Pack” with three brand new themes, a Hotkey Extension that allows users to customize a row of seven keys with their own desired emojis, custom phrases or email addresses, and of course general bug fixes and performance improvements.
FEATURING
– The Energy Theme Pack! Breathe more life into your keyboard with these animated themes.
– The Hotkey Extension! Add a row of customizable keys for things you type often like emojis, symbols or email addresses.
– Heart Pops! Make your keys pop with hearts with this lovely Extension.
– Magic Button! Replace the globe with emoji, a comma, or a dismiss keyboard button in settings. Also, long-press the globe button for more options.
– Case-sensitive layout. Enable this feature in Settings.
– iCloud Sync. Now your dictionary words will sync automatically across your devices.
– More keys have been added to landscape orientation on iPhone (portrait for iPad). You can disable this layout in Settings.
Following the launch of iOS 8 last September and its system-wide support of alternative keyboards, a handful of third-party keyboard apps rocketed to the top of the App Store charts. Fleksy has remained one of the more popular options, with the latest December update bringing a big overhaul to customization options and the introduction of Extensions into the experience.
Fleksy Keyboard can be downloaded from the App Store for $0.99. [Direct Link]
First video teaser for Galaxy S6 is all about the camera

Samsung just tweeted the first video teaser for the upcoming Galaxy S6.
The 17-second clip doesn’t seem to contain any hidden clues about the appearance or features of the Galaxy S6 and its curved edge sibling, but the camera outline and the copy suggests the camera experience will be a big part of the Galaxy S6’ appeal.
The camera icon at the end seems to match the many alleged renders and schematics that have surfaced over the last couple of weeks. If these leaks are accurate, the Galaxy S6 will feature a protruding camera of roughly square shape with rounded corners, as well as a flash/heart rate sensor module positioned to the right of the camera.

Samsung has begun talking about the Galaxy S6’ camera earlier this week, when an executive promised an “intelligent” camera with unique functions. And, just today, Samsung published an infographic detailing the evolution of Samsung phone cameras, another hint that the imaging experience will be a key selling point for the S6.
According to an inside source cited by SamMobile, the Galaxy S6 will feature a 20MP front camera with OIS, and a 5MP front camera. The device will make use of the new Camera API in Lollipop by giving users more fine control over the shots. Stay tuned for more.
Samsung starts teasing ‘The Next Galaxy’ on Twitter
Samsung started its teaser campaign for “The Next Galaxy” today with a Twitter post and video that shows, well, very little. The teaser’s setting everyone up for the official announcement of the Samsung Galaxy S6 that should come in just a few weeks at MWC 2015.
Watch Google’s Android Chorus bring 300 devices together in tinny harmony
In the hope of drawing attention to its Androidify app (and the fact that you’ve been able to make your own for almost four years now), Google programmed 300 devices (and their Android character) to ‘sing’ (and flail the limbs around, roughly in time, in the middle of a classy shopping center in upscale Omotesando, Tokyo, Japan. Like a bonafide real chorus, the devices were separated out into parts, though we could also pick out a smattering of beatboxing droids too. If you have entirely not enough pride, you could even take a turn as a conductor, with a gesture sensor conveying your hand movements to your Google singing group. For such overtly public shaming, you were rewarded with a free Android t-shirt. The performances will continue through this Valentine Day weekend, and it will all sound a little something like this:

Google’s latest commercial is all about the handshake
When I meet someone, I generally shake their hand, but I never realized how many different ways there are to do the “handshake.” In case you’re wondering as well, Google shows you in their new 60 second commercial that continues to promote the “Be Together, Not the Same” campaign.
“No matter how you shake it, you can’t do it alone. ”
Check out the video after the break.
