Leaked BlackBerry Passport OS 10.3.1.2480 upgrade files now available
Previously we let you all know BlackBerry was working on a fix for the Passport screen flicker issue and while there was no ETA mentioned, if you don’t mind taking an unconventional route, you can try out that fix. OS 10.3.1.2480 has ‘leaked’ (using the term loosely because it’s not a full autoloader) and it certainly does appear to be the fix for the BlackBerry Passport screen flicker issue.

LG Watch Urbane video emphasizes classic design and customizability
We received our first glimpse of LG’s Watch Urbane last week, and we generally liked what we saw. LG’s latest Android Wear offering is what happens when Contemporary and Classic Unite (according to LG), eschewing the need to scream out that it is a smart watch to all and sundry. While there’s no official word on availability just yet, LG has just released a video showing off the Watch Urbane in all its glory, as seen after the break.
As you can see from the video, LG is emphasizing how the Watch Urbane can be worn with a multitude of different straps so long as they are the regular 22mm size. It isn’t long to wait until MWC, where LG’s latest smartwatch will be given the hands-on treatment. If you simply can’t wait for the Watch Urbane to become available, and you already own an LG G Watch R and have some sandpaper handy, you could always take matters into your own hands. If you don’t mind waiting though, you can pre-order the LG Watch Urbane here in gold or silver trim.

OnePlus Kicks off Creative Contest
OnePlus, the underdog phone manufacturer from China, is banding together with Ultimaker, a 3D printer company, to give you the opportunity to win all kinds of great prizes.The object of the contest is to create an accessory for the OnePlus One and design it by using the Ultimaker software. Users will vote for the best accessory, and the top 20 winners will get OnePlus One invites. The grand prize winner will receive an Ultimaker 2 3D printer, 2nd place will win a OnePlus One, and 3rd place will win a pair of JBL E1+ earphones or 3 spools of Ultimaker filament.

Latest Twitter app update adds ‘while you were away’ feature
The Twitter team has rolled out an update for the official Android app, enabling the “While you were away” feature. This helps you to remain up-to-date with everything happening on the micro-blogging site, providing you with some top tweets determined by who you interact with most on Twitter.
Uber drivers in India will start collecting area data to improve safety
Uber’s connecting with a crowdsourced safety app and, eventually, local government to help improve conditions in New Delhi, India. The company announced a partnership with SafetiPin, a firm that collects location-based info and offers a “safety score” for a given area. The idea is that Uber’s “partner-drivers,” as the company calls them, will start collecting nighttime safety information throughout the New Delhi area — a city where an Uber driver was accused of rape last year. Since those allegations surfaced, the company has announced various efforts to improve passenger safety in the Indian capital. In fact, Uber’s partnership with SafetiPin closely follows the company’s addition of an in-app “panic button” for the area earlier this month.
During the program, Uber’s drivers will use car-mounted cameras to capture roadside conditions at regular intervals. The photos will be tagged and drivers will rate the areas based on nine categories including lighting, openness, visibility, security, walk path, crowd/gender diversity and density. Uber’s plan is to share the data it gathers with local governments to figure out ways to address problem areas — be it upgraded lighting along a certain street or other safety improvements. The program is set to launch in New Delhi on February 25th and run for five months. Uber hasn’t set any timetable for when to expect the partnership to bear fruit in the form of actual safety improvements. Though, considering the call for government involvement and the red tape associated with public works improvements, one can assume changes won’t come overnight. While the program is kicking off in the Indian capital, Uber says the program will expand to Nairobi, Kenya, and Bogotá, Colombia, in the future.

Slomo Version of Lollipop’s “Smooth” Transitions
Google has been trying to make Android flow better for quite some time, from Project Butter in Jelly Bean, to KitKat, and finally, to Lollipop.
Although Android hasn’t been clunky or bumpy for six years or so, Google keeps raising the bar on smooth functionality. But just how smooth are the new animations in Lollipop? Sprint feeling the ‘six appeal’ of the Samsung Galaxy S 6
During the Oscars last night, T-Mobile decided to tease the world with the first glimpse of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S 6. The image has a glowing Galaxy S 6 with the phrase ‘six appeal’ floating above it. Then, earlier today, AT&T introduced the same teaser and the magenta glow was replaced with blue. Another carrier also joined the fun today, too. The image above was provided by Sprint this evening. Once again, the glow has been switched to match Sprint’s yellow.
Now we are waiting for Verizon to start feeling the ‘six appeal.’
