EVE Online’s Tiamat content bundle brings a new ship, corporation tools, and more
EVE Online has released the Tiamat feature bundle. Tiamat follows the Rhea content bundle as the second such release in 2015. The content pack adds a number of new ships, tools, balance fixes, and more.
Tiamat adds the Minmatar Svipul, a new tactical destroyer that lets you change dynamically between defensive, propulsion, and sharpshooter modes in response to your needs. There are also new tools for corporations, including whether or not friendly fire will be policed by the in-game policing units.
There are a few smaller changes as well. Projectile weapons have been rebalanced, with improvements to the quality and variety of ammunition, particularly for small artillery and autocannons. Tweaks have also been made to the game’s audio and effects, and the visuals have been enhanced with the game’s new rendering system.
You can download EVE Online for free right now on Mac of Windows, with a 14-day free trial available to new players. After your trial, the game will cost $14.95 per month to continue playing.

Mac Help: Master Yosemite’s Privacy settings
Security is on everyone’s mind these days. How secure is your Mac? Can other people figure out where you are? What apps have access to your most important data? Read on to understand how Yosemite’s Privacy settings are configured, and how to master them.
R.C. writes:
I’ve “enabled Location Services” multiple times when I’ve been using apps like Maps, Evernote and Calendar. Is that a bad thing? Can I be tracked by everyone now?
Not quite. There’s no GPS radio inside the Mac like there is in an iPhone, so you’re not constantly in touch with a tower somewhere. Instead, your Mac figures out your location via Wi-Fi instead. When Wi-Fi is on, Location Services-related apps can work.
Certain apps like your Maps app benefit from being able to figure out precisely where you are — giving you directions to places you need to go with reasonable accuracy, then transferring that info to your iPhone so you can use it on the road. When you tell the Mac to enable Location Services, you’re enabling it for those apps — and those apps only — to try to locate themselves in the world.
The Privacy tab in the Security & Privacy system preference is where you can manage that connection. If you want to turn off or edit Location Services settings, click the lock in the lower left and enter your system administration password.
To open Security & Privacy settings in Yosemite
- Click on the menu.
- Select System Preferences.
- Click on Security & Privacy.
- Click on the Privacy tag.
- Click on the lock icon in the lower left and enter your Mac desktop password.
Now you can edit which applications have access to Location Services.
J.T. writes:
I got a message saying I gave a newly installed app access to my Contacts database. Did I do something wrong? Can something get corrupted that way?
Yosemite creates a few common databases when your user account is generated. Contacts, Calendar and Reminders databases are three of the most common ones. Different apps can work with those databases. You have ultimate control over which apps can and can’t work with them, and you can adjust that from the same place you’d adjust Location Services.
In the Privacy tab of Yosemite’s Security & Privacy system preferences pane, you’ll find the setting you need to control access to your contacts, calendars and reminders databases. To get there, follow the steps above, but click on the Contacts, Calendars and Reminders icons in the left window.
Click the Lock button in the lower left, enter your system administration password and adjust the settings for each application.

Initial Apple Watch manufacturing order rumored to be at least 5 million units
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has ordered between 5 and 6 million Apple Watch units. The order is apparently comprised of all three upcoming models: the Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch, and Apple Watch Edition. As reported earlier, the entry-level Sportis said to make up half of this initial run, with the stainless steel Apple Watch making up one-third.
Apple is keeping its initial order of the high-end gold Edition model small for the initial run, according to The Wall Street Journal:
Orders for Apple Watch Edition – the high-end model featuring 18-karat gold casing – are relatively small in the first quarter but Apple plans to start producing more than one million units per month in the second quarter, the person said. Analysts expect demand for the high-end watches to be strong in China where Apple’s sales are booming.
While 5 to 6 million seems like a solid number, it comes from supply chain sources, which can be unreliable on these matters. It’s possible that Apple has ordered a lot more than 5 million units, according to Ben Bajarin:
I have multiple supply chain sources which suggest a lot more than 5m Apple Watches being built.

Samsung Galaxy S5, one year on
We weigh in on how Samsung’s leading Galaxy S held up for a year
At this point in the Galaxy S5‘s life it’s pretty well overshadowed both physically and metaphorically by the larger, metal-clad Galaxy Note 4, but that doesn’t mean Samsung’s early-2014 flagship doesn’t still have its place in the world. As we approach one year since its announcement at MWC 2014 Samsung is still selling them by the millions all over the world, winning over customers with a solid feature set, full waterproofing and a size that fits more people’s hands.
Some of us here at Android Central have been using the Galaxy S5 regularly since it was announced, and now it’s time to give our feelings on the phone as it reaches its first birthday. Read along and see how we’ve managed using the GS5 for nearly a full year.

The manual that comes with the Blu Vivo Air is thicker than the phone itself
Just how thin is the Blu Vivo Air? 5.15mm. But let’s compare that to some things that are also relatively thin.
