AT&T adds Mexico to GoPhone plan, ups data allowance on two GoPhone plans
AT&T continues to capitalize on their acquisition of Iusacell and expanding into the Mexican market. Last month the carrier added free calling to Mexico for AT&T customers. Not to be left out, AT&T’s prepaid service GoPhone is reaping some benefits of the expansion.
Starting February 20th, GoPhone users on the $60 plan will enjoy the same unlimited calling to Mexico that AT&T customers get.
AT&T also tweaked two of their data plans a bit to provide some additional high-speed data to their GoPhone users. GoPhone customers who have a 1 GB plan for $45 per month will see their high speed data cap increase to 1.5 GB per month. Users who currently have 2.5 GB plan for $60 per month will have a new high-speed cap at 4 GB of data. When customers exceed their monthly cap, AT&T throttles data speed, but there are no additional charges to continue to access the data network.
AT&T says the changes are just a way to show their appreciation for GoPhone customers. Users on either plan do not need to do anything to take advantage of these additional features – AT&T will automatically add them to user accounts.
