Typed.com brings Realmac’s vision for blogging to the cloud

Typed.com is a blogging platform from longtime Apple developers — and iMore hall-of-famers — Realmac. It’s responsive, it supports Markdown, tags, themes, pretty URLs, Pages, and multiple contributors, admins, and blogs. And it’s now up for crowdfunding support at Indiegogo.

Typed.com is a blogging service for writers, journalists, artists, storytellers, and for anyone with something to say. It’s the online writing platform that we’ve been wanting to create and use for years.

Online services come and go, but we want to make something that stands the test of time. We want Typed.com to be around for decades to come, and with your help we can make this happen. We can build a blogging platform that’s sustainable and enjoyable to use.

Realmac is already famous for web tools, namely RapidWeaver for OS X, and Typed has been available as a stand-alone writing app for Mac for a while now. They’re also phenomenal at user experience, exemplified by apps like Clear and Ember.

So, yeah, hosted blogging platforms are by no means a sparsely populated space, but its an important one, and one where Realmac’s sensibilities could make them really appealing.

Check out the Typed.com Indiegogo and if you like it, back it.

Clash of Clans for Android: What is it, and why is it so popular?

A top-down primer of one of Android’s most popular games

You’ve seen the commercials (especially if you watched the Super Bowl), you’ve scrolled past the Facebook ads, and you probably have at least one friend or child playing it right now. The animations offered in the commercials are cute, and being threatened by Liam Neeson is always a good time, but there’s a lot more to Clash of Clans than micro-transactions and battling strangers.

It’s a game that pulls from some of the oldest forms of tabletop gaming and mixes in always online and quick-glance mobile gaming to create an experience that will quickly suck you in even if you never spend a dime.

Consider this your crash course in Clash of Clans, everything from what to expect after installing to what device is best for maximum enjoyment.

Android 5.0 Lollipop headed out to HTC One M8 on Rogers and Telus

HTC admitted at the end of last week that they would be missing out on their 90 day update timeline for the HTC One M8 when it comes to Android 5.0 Lollipop. While that was their statement, I wasn’t all that mad at them since it technically was out there for some variants of the […]

OnePlus highlights the One’s photo capabilities by tapping travel blogger

oneplus_javin_lau_picture1

Javin Lau, labeled by OnePlus as an urban explorer, was asked by the company to make a blog post showing off photographs taken by the One’s camera and give a review of the device during his trip to NYC last year.

Lau had many kind comments to make about the OnePlus One. He especially liked the ability to shoot photos in the RAW image format.

My experience with the OnePlus One has been nothing short of awesome. Having 13mp in a camera now enables me to print small photos if I really wanted to. Being able to shoot RAW has been nothing short of game-changing for a lot my shooting, especially at night. The convenience of having a great camera in a small form-factor that you always carry with you in this day and age is definitely indispensable.

The photos, which you can view by clicking on the source link, were touched up using Photoshop Express.

To achieve the looks in my photos, I’ve been shooting the photographs with the native camera app to get the RAW DNG, edit in Photoshop express, which has the ability to edit DNG photos to sharpen and recover shadows/highlights. I then take the JPEG into VSCOCam for further colour toning and upload/crop in Instagram.

To view more of Lau’s work, you can view his Instagram site by clicking here.
