Battery life is one of the most needed improvements in the tech industry. A number of manufacturers have done extended research on how to improve battery life but none have made a substantial difference. Based on a report, Sony might be up to something worth talking about.
Sony is working on a new lithium-ion battery composed of a sulfur compound. Sony thinks that they have discovered a solution that makes batteries drain at a slower rate. The batteries will also last longer (health standpoint) and the newly used substance will allow batteries to be much larger in capacity without added size. Thus meaning a smartphone with a 3000mAh battery may be able to fit up to 4300mAh without an added thickness.
The technology is still in the testing phase so don’t get too excited just yet.

From now until the end of the year, PayPal users living in Canada can get a discounted price to Google’s Play Store.
Canadian PayPal users can get $3 off their next purchase from the Play Store so long as the transaction is $5 or more. This obviously excludes music considering the fact that all music costs less than $5. However, apps, movies, shows, books and magazines are all fair game.
Users must pay using PayPal to claim the discount, which will be applied at checkout. The discount will be listed on your email receipt from Google.
Hurry up, because the offer doesn’t last long!

The Cassini vehicle has been visiting Saturn’s moon Enceladus for a full decade now, but it’s finally time for the two to bid adieu. The spacecraft will fly by Enceladus for the last time at 12:49PM on Saturday, skimming a “moderately close” 3,106 miles above the surface. It won’t just be reminiscing on its way out, though: its last major Enceladus mission will see it mapping the icy moon’s internal heat, taking advantage of Saturn’s years-long winter to conduct studies in ideal conditions.
After that, Cassini is settling into quiet retirement. The ship will still observe Enceladus from a distance, but its focus is shifting more toward Saturn’s outer rings. Eventually, it’ll travel to the inner rings and (most likely) crash into Saturn sometime in September 2017. Whatever happens, it’ll be the end to a very long and productive journey. Cassini launched back in 1997, and has visited a good chunk of the Solar System at least briefly (including Saturn, Venus, Jupiter and an asteroid). It discovered new Saturnian moons and even helped validate the theory of relativity — think of the next couple of years as a victory lap.

If you use insider knowledge for your own gain, it could land you in hot water… especially if you hacked the computers at your job to get the information you need. At least that’s what Eddie Tipton, Multi-State Lottery Association’s former security director, is being accused of. Tipton allegedly used a rootkit — a malicious software that activates when a computer boots up — to know a drawing’s winning numbers in advance. He’d then ask an accomplice to buy the winning ticket and to collect the money afterward.
He was already convicted of fraud for tampering the lottery in Iowa, but he allegedly tinkered with more drawings in four states within the course of six years. Authorities believe he may be involved in even more instances of fraud, though. So, they’re now investigating winners in 37 other states that have been using the Multi-State Lottery Association’s computers to draw winning numbers since Tipton joined the organization in 2003.
Iowa deputy attorney general Thomas H. Miller said: “It would be pretty naive to believe they are the only four [jackpots involved in the scheme.] If you find one cockroach, you have to assume there are 100 more you haven’t found.” So far, the Colorado, Wisconsin and Oklahoma divisions have already confirmed that they handed out jackpots worth $8 million in all to Tipton and his associates.
Authorities first suspected Tipton when a New York lawyer tried to claim a $16.5 million jackpot in 2012 and then withdrew instead of revealing who bought the winning ticket. When they released a surveillance video showing the person who bought the ticket at a gas station, Tipton’s co-workers contacted them to say that the mysterious man looked like him.

Animals are near and dear to my heart. My cat Poi came all the way from Maui, where she showed up on my doorstep as a kitten, and I simply had to give her a home. My dog Taro was abandoned at a foreclosed home in San Diego as a puppy, and she has filled my heart with love and joy for the past eight years.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty has worked endlessly to fight animal cruelty and neglect. They are the nation’s leader in the areas of rescue, adoption and welfare and none of it would be possible without donors like you.
The Escondido Humane Society is where I adopted Taro and they will always have a special place in my heart. Taro is all I need for Christmas and she is the gift that never stops giving. If you love animals, I promise you that the Escondido Humane Society does wonderful things for domestic animals.
Sacramento, CA is my hometown, and taking care of the hungry and sheltering the homeless has always been a passion of mine. I am heading back to Sacramento to spend time with my family, and my mom and I will be feeding breakfast to the homeless and to those that are less fortunate. Christmas is a time of giving and we should all have compassion for those in need.
Almost all of us use Wikipedia as a resource of endless information. Wikipedia is not paid for by corporate powerhouses and survives solely on the generosity of its readers. In no way do you have to donate to charity in order to qualify for the giveaway. Simply make a comment below in order to enter into the contest and a winner will be selected on Christmas Day. But if you do have a few extra dollars, consider giving back and spreading the holiday cheer.

Nothing like a holiday update treat for your device to make dealing with the in-laws just a little bit more bearable. Sprint has begun the arduous task of pushing out a much desired OTA to LG G4 owners on the Now Network. Yes, that would be Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Sprint’s support page doesn’t go into any real details, but we all know it brings things like Now on Tap to the mix. More importantly though, it brings Android Doze. Which, in my opinion, is the single greatest aspect of Marshmallow as it saves a ton of battery when your device is just chilling next to your spiked eggnog. Sprint lists “Sprint Global Roaming” as part of the update as well.
Those of you sporting an LG G4 on Sprint, head into settings and check for updates if you don’t already have it. I will naturally assume you should have well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and plenty of time for the download to complete and install. You will be looking for software version number LS991ZV9.
Happy updating all.

Android lovers and media consumers alike know exactly what Plex is. It is a simple and easy to use media server application that can get all your media organized and delivered seamlessly to your phones, tablets and TV’s via various connected devices like the Nexus Player, Amazon Fire TV and Roku. They also have support for Xbox One and PS4. However, up until now, users of Plex on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 had to pay $5 a month or $40 a year to use it. New users to Plex on the game consoles will now be able to enjoy access to their Plex libraries for free.
For those that are paying customers, don’t go all freaking out and losing your marbles. Much like they did on Android, the free version doesn’t give you all the premium features and functionalities you got from subscribing. For instance, free users don’t get the premium music library or mobile sync.
So, for all you Plexer’s out there who couldn’t, or didn’t want to, pony up a little money, now you don’t have too. Enjoy!
