The ‘godfather of revenge porn’ gets 2.5 years in prison
Hunter Moore, the founder of revenge porn website IsAnyoneUp, has been sentenced to two and a half years in jail. In addition, the 29-year-old will have his mental health evaluated while behind bars and will have three years of supervision upon his release. Moore is generally regarded as a notorious figure in the growth of revenge porn, enabling jilted lovers to post intimate pictures of their former beaus when the relationship broke down. It all seems like just desserts, although if there’s one galling element of his sentence, it’s that the fiscal penalty is so minor, since he’s being forced to pay a fine of just $2,000.

Bluestacks now runs multiple Android apps on Windows simultaneously
Bluestacks has come a long way since its original app player in 2011, which was notable for being one of the first methods for running Android apps on Windows. Now it’s launching Bluestacks 2, the latest version of its platform with one big upgrade: the ability to run more than one Android app at the same time. The new app, which is only available on Windows at the moment (Bluestacks hit Macs in July), adds a tab interface for jumping between multiple Android apps. Basically, it looks a lot like a web browser. Bluestacks 2 can also play mobile ads in separate tabs once you click on them, which will hopefully keep them out of your gaming time.

‘MOS Pack’ Backpack Features a Built-In Power Strip for Hassle-Free Charging of All Your Devices
The MOS Pack, available now on Kickstarter, is a backpack that includes a built-in power strip and cable management system that allows all of the devices inside to be charged by a single power cord without taking anything out of the backpack.

Ideal for travel, the MOS Pack can hold charging cables for a MacBook, an iPad, and an iPhone all at once, with each one plugging into an included MOS Reach power strip. The MOS Reach includes two USB charging ports for iOS devices (or other USB-powered electronics) and a standard port that can accommodate a MacBook’s Power Adapter.

Cords are cleverly routed through cable management sleeves to keep them organized and out of sight, and the small power strip is concealed at the bottom of the backpack and kept in place with magnets. The MOS Pack includes a padded laptop sleeve, a tablet sleeve, an iPhone pocket, a waterproof water bottle pocket, a passport pocket, a hard glasses case, and slots for pens and pencils.

The MOS team has produced and shipped several other products via Kickstarter, including the original MOS Magnetic Organization System, the MOS Spring, and the MOS Reach, establishing itself as a reliable manufacturer.
The MOS Pack can be pre-ordered via Kickstarter for an early bird pledge of $120. When the early bird units have sold out, the price will be $140. MOS plans to begin shipping backpacks in March of 2016.

Ubisoft’s beautiful new Rayman Adventures game is out now on Android
Well, it’s a little later than originally planned, but Ubisoft has finally brought its new Rayman game to the Google Play Store. Available now for free, Rayman Adventures totes a similar gameplay style to previous titles in the franchise, along with some improved visuals, new controls and much more.
One of the first things you’ll notice about Rayman Adventures are the graphics. This game is beautiful. After playing it for only a few minutes, it’s still pretty difficult to understand just how a game can be so good-looking on a mobile device. Aside from improved graphics, Rayman Adventures is pretty similar to other Rayman titles. It’s a side-scroller, and Rayman moves on his own. So it’s your job to make him jump, hang on to ledges, and smash into things.
As for the storyline, Rayman is on a mission to rescue the captured Incrediballs (little ball-shaped monsters that follow you around through each level). Each Incrediball has a special power that will help you through each mission. The main goal in this game is to retrieve the ancient eggs that have been scattered across the world. Ancient eggs sustain the sacred tree, you see. No ancient eggs means no sacred tree, and that’s bad news for you and me.
You can choose to play as Rayman or Barbara, his Viking companion. The ability to play as someone other than Rayman certainly helps the game become less monotonous, and less like other Rayman titles.

Overall, this is a fun game. It’s pretty addicting, too. You should know that this is a free-to-play title, so get ready for an onslaught of in-app purchases. You can spend real money to take care of your Incrediballs (yes, they actually need to be fed), or you can buy them food with one of the many in-game currencies you’ll collect throughout the game.
Should you download Rayman Adventures? Yes. But only if you don’t mind IAPs.
OnePlus 2 will permanently ditch invite system starting December 5th

While the OnePlus 2 hasn’t been met with quite as much enthusiasm as its predecessor, it’s still a solidly spec’d device, especially considering pricing starts at just $329 for the base 16GB model and $389 for the 64GB version. The biggest downside however, is OnePlus’ invite system. Thankfully, this is a burden we won’t have to deal with much longer.
In a new official forum post, OnePlus has announced that it is ditching invites for the OnePlus 2, and not just for a short period of time: we’re talking permanently. The invite-free sales will begin at midnight on December 5th. In addition, OnePlus will also sell the OnePlus X invite free from the 5th to the 7th, though the mid-ranger will require invites again after that.

This is certainly a big change in direction for OnePlus, and sees a much shorter turnaround from invite-to-invite-free than we saw with the OnePlus One. Of course, just because the phone won’t require an invite doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t suffer from stock shortages and other related issues that will slow down the time it takes to get the phone into your hands. For example, the 16GB model is currently out of stock, and it’s not 100% clear when it will return.

Google’s Cardboard Camera app lets you make your own VR photos

Google is doing some really amazing things with its virtual reality Cardboard platform, and today it gets even better. Google has just released an application to the Play Store called Cardboard Camera that will actually allow you to take your own VR photos.
The app is pretty simple, and the capture process is super easy. All you need to do is press the Camera button in the app and move it around in a circle like you would to take a panorama. It will take a minute or two to process, but the result is a really cool VR photo. Just tap on your finished photo, press the Cardboard button, and pop your phone into your Google Cardboard viewer. The best part? Cardboard Camera will even record sound when you’re taking your photo, which makes for a much more realistic experience when viewing it through the headset.

If you have a Google Cardboard headset, you need this app. It’s available now for free in the Google Play Store. Don’t have a Google Cardboard viewer? Head on over to the Cardboard website to see a list of the most popular headsets available. If you don’t want to spend the money, though, here are some instructions on how to make your own Cardboard headset.

Facebook locks down Belgian site following tracking lawsuit
It’s not altogether surprising that a website some use to scrapbook their entire lives be regularly held to account over its privacy policies. Facebook’s ongoing legal predicament in Belgium isn’t concerned with how it treats users, though, but how it tracks any visitor to its pages, logged-in or not. After the country’s privacy watchdog concluded Facebook was violating European Union law by tracking non-users through persistent cookies without their consent, the social network found itself on the wrong end of a lawsuit. A Belgian court demanded Facebook stop the practice, and pre-empting the order coming through this week, the website has gone into lockdown. So for now, only visitors from Belgium that are logged-in to the platform can view Facebook pages.

Explore Machu Picchu’s Inca remains through Street View
Google’s Street View “Trekker” backpacks sure get around. After snapping the British Museum and the ancient city of Petra, they’ve now been to Machu Picchu in Peru. It’s an iconic peak rising 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, where travellers can gaze upon the remains of the Inca Empire. With Street View, you can take the trip from the comfort of your living room, picking through the crumbling walls and soaking up the various temples, terraces and plazas at your own pace. It’s an architectural marvel and as you would expect, Google’s stitched panoramas do a good job of capturing the atmosphere. Useful if you’re a history teacher, or just trying to persuade your significant other to take a vacation there.

Kevin Spacey will teach you how to act for $90
Masterclass is an online education service with a twist: all of the teachers are household names in their chosen subject. The website launched with an acting track that included five hours of video coaching from Hollywood royalty, Dustin Hoffman. Now, however, the company has decided to add another two-time Oscar winner to its stable after signing a deal with Kevin Spacey. He’ll be offering five hours of pre-recorded clips across 29 lessons as he takes a group of students through his process, plus guidance from Masterclass’ slightly less famous online coaches.
OnePlus’ Christmas gift to you is ditching OnePlus 2 invites
There will soon be a day when an invite is not required to purchase the OnePlus 2. Today, OnePlus declared that December 5 will be the day that it sets the OnePlus 2 free from the dreaded invite system. Consumers will be able to purchase the company’s flagship freely moving forward instead of having to hunt for an invite that then gives them the option to purchase the OnePlus 2. The newer OnePlus X, however, will remain continue to require an invite.
OnePlus will also run these deals from December 5-7:
- OnePlus 2 StyleSwap covers: 50% off
- Select OnePlus One accessories: 90% off
- All other accessories: 10% off
- OnePlus X: invite-free
Anything ordered by December 7 is guaranteed to be received by “the holidays,” which presumably means Christmas. The company is also sending a limited number of first-time customers a mousepad with the signature OnePlus ‘Never Settle’ phrase on it.
All of this comes as OnePlus celebrates its second birthday on December 17.
