WhatsApp update blocks links to Telegram URLs
WhatsApp has made a rather inexplicable change to the backend of its instant messaging servers by blocking any direct links to its rivals Telegram’s URLs. The reasoning behind this alteration is unclear, but WhatsApp doesn’t seem to be censoring the text as a whole — so you can freely type the word “Telegram” in a chat and it will appear.
We’ve reached out to WhatsApp for clarification on this matter, so we’ll be sure to update you via this post if we hear back with an official statement.
