Playseat Forza review – The ultimate gaming chair for Forza lovers

Last week we reviewed the Thrustmaster TX Racing Wheel, the best steering wheel available for Xbox One at present. Racing wheel controllers are not meant to be used on the lap – just imagine if your car’s steering wheel shifted about every time you turned or moved your legs. The TX Racing Wheel includes a clamp for attachment to a table or desk, but that’s not especially sexy and might be tough for living rooms.

Thus your best wheel mounting options are a racing wheel stand or seat. Netherlands-based company Playseat has the gaming chair market cornered, offering more than 10 different gaming chairs for racing and flight games. Given that Forza Horizon 2 is one of my top Xbox One games of 2014, I jumped at the chance to try out the Playseat Evolution Forza Motorsport Edition. Read on for my full impressions, complete with exclusive video review and unboxing and assembly videos!

Philips Unveils Lightning-Based Fidelio NC1L Noise Canceling Headphones With No Need for Batteries

philips_fidelio_nc1lPhilips today added to its lineup of Lightning-equipped headphones with the new Fidelio NC1L. Similar to its predecessor the Fidelio M2L, the NC1L headphones use a 24-bit digital to analog converter to provide high-quality audio playback.

As detailed by The Verge, the Fidelio NC1L headphones plug directly into the Lightning port, providing a direct digital connection to the phone and a power supply for the headphone’s onboard noise cancellation technology. The Lightning connector power allows Philips to provide a valuable feature like noise cancellation without requiring the additional bulk of a battery.

Digital Trends went hands-on with a prototype of the new headphones and found they offered solid performance.

As for the performance, our initial audition of the cans impressed, as they blocked out an immense amount of ambient noise even at low volume levels. The set we tried out is only a prototype, and the final version will undergo some interior and exterior design changes. But even at the early stages, we’re excited about this technology.

Designed for usage in a variety of environments, the Fidelio NC1L headphones also include multiple noise profiles suitable for making phone calls and for allowing ambient noise when awareness of your surroundings is necessary. The Fidelio NC1Ls should launch in North America in April for $299.

CES 2015 Saygus V2 Hands-on: A smartphone with multi-boot capability, two microSD slots, IPX7 rating, and 60GHz Wi-Fi

If I had to describe the Saygus V2 smartphone in one word, it would have to be different, though definitely different in a positive way. Quite simply, it’s a specification beast – we know that the device has a 60GHz Wi-Fi chip, possesses an IPX7 rating (which guarantees it for 30 minutes underwater at a […]

Definitionado, a Windows Phone word game with a slight crossword puzzle feel

Definitionado is a relatively new Windows Phone word game that had a crossword puzzle feel about it. Imagine working on a crossword puzzle without the words crossing and just solving the word clues and you come close to Definitionado.

You are presented with clues that define a particular word and a collection of letters that can be used to spell that word. Available for low-memory Windows Phones, the lack of a gaming clock gives Definitionado a casual feel. The game does have hints for the more difficult words, 500 puzzles and a very clean appearance.

After tackling the first dozen word puzzles, Definitionado comes across as a very appealing word game to add to your Windows phone gaming library.

20,000 units of the Nokia N1 sold out within 4 minutes in China

Nokia_N1_Android_Tablet_Front

The Nokia N1 tablet was made available in China today, after the device was announced a couple of months in advance to generate enough hype and interest. And just as the sales opened for the tablet today, a Chinese source mentions that its initial stocks of 20,000 units have run out within a span of just 4 minutes.

With an asking price of CNY 1599 or $257, the N1 is one of the best budget tablets on offer. The device has been made available only in China as of now with no word on a global launch yet. Nokia is expected to make more units of the tablet available on the 15th of January, so customers who couldn’t their hands on the tablet during the initial launch will only have to wait another week.

The Nokia N1 packs a 7.9 inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and is also accompanied by Intel’s quad core 2.3 GHz Atom Z3580 processor. Other features include an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop with a custom Z Launcher and a 5300 mAh battery.

Samsung officially unveils the Galaxy Grand Max

galaxygrandmax

Samsung has officially announced the arrival of the Galaxy Grand Max smartphone in its home region of South Korea. The smartphone has been making appearances in leaks for quite some time now, so the announcement finally puts them to rest.

This is a midrange offering, but with what Samsung likes to call a Max form factor. Pricing for the handset has been set at 319,000 Korean Won which is roughly around the $290 mark.

The Galaxy Grand Max is packing a 5.25 inch 720p display, a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 410 64-bit SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable), a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front facing camera with a 120 degree wide angle lens, Android 4.4.4 KitKat and a 2,500 mAh battery.

For the hardware that it’s packing, a price tag of $290 seems like a little too much. In comparison, the 2014 Moto G which features an almost identical specs sheet comes with a price tag of $179.99 in the U.S. Perhaps Samsung would like to rethink the pricing of the Galaxy Grand Max when it brings the device to global markets.

As it turns out, that information was wrong and Android Central has confirmed today that the device actually runs webOS, an operating system […]

Mediatek MT2601 is a processor for wearables, hopefully used to make cheaper smartwatches

Mediatek processors aren’t typically used in devices in markets like Europe and America, however in Asia and emerging markets, they are used in practically every device. A large part of this is because the chips are so much cheaper, and although they are aren’t quite a fast or optimized as some of their counterparts from companies […]
