Verizon Wireless and Lyft partner up for discount offerings

Verizon Wireless and Lyft have partnered up in a multi-tiered fashion that will benefit Verizon customers and both Lyft passengers and drivers. What this means for us is we’ll get yet another app preloaded onto our phones carried by Big Red and that starts today followed a discount offered next week.

The discount will go toward Verizon’s monthly access for drivers through Lyft’s Accelerate Premier Driver Rewards program. New or existing Big Red customers can shop and register for the discount via secure web portal and will start Monday (May 11). Region president for Verizon, Russ Preite is looking forward to the partnership.

“Lyft represents an emerging and innovative partner for Verizon in the transportation and sharing economy space,” he said. “This is an exciting opportunity for us to chart new territories and create a broader user base. Lyft’s vision, to reconnect people and communities through better transportation, is best achieved when people are on the best network that connects them with a ride quickly and reliably. Verizon Wireless is a natural fit.”

So if you’re a Verizon customer and either partake in Lyft’s passenger service or drive for the company, be happy to know that you’ll have quicker access to the Lyft app, and a discount if you’re a driver.
