HTC’s comedic duo are back with HTC One M8 Serious Technical Considerations Video
Prior to the HTC One M8‘s official launch, there were a series of ads featured on HTC‘s YouTube channel titled “Technical Translations” which featured a comedic duo trying to simplify the features of the HTC One M8 for everyday users. Now that the M8 is official, HTC has called on the duo’s services again, this time in a HTC One M8 Serious Technical Considerations video. Check it out:
Compared to the Technical Translations videos that featured the aluminium unibody, HTC Zoe and UltraPixel camera, the Serious Technical Considerations video seems to be a bit more about tooting on HTC’s own horn, rather than really advertising the M8′s features, really referring only to the aluminium unibody and the fact that you would look more futuristic for owning it (which depending on your opinion could go either way). Still, the ad is still quite amusing, even if it was a bit off-topic, and we’ll likely be seeing a few more of these as HTC tries to increase its sales of the M8 around the world.
What do you think about this new Serious Technical Considerations video? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

New Nexus tablet shows up on a Chromium tracker?

Rumors regarding Google’s new Nexus tablet are all over the place. The rumors were initially pointing at LG as the manufacturer of the device and afterwards that spot was taken by HTC. Most rumors point to the fact that the device’s name will be Nexus 8 and that the screen will be somewhat larger than the current gen Nexus tablet, that is 7.9 or 8.9″, we’re heard it both ways. Nothing is set it stone, but this is our guess.
In some new developments regarding the new offering from Google, Myce speculates that the tablet has been mentioned in a Chromium issue tracker report. Codename of the device is “Flounder”, which is an oceanic fish. What makes Myce think this is a new Nexus device is the fact that Google named all of its previous Nexus offerings by a fish, their codenames that is. We can also find a word “fingerprint” in the report, which is probably a fingerprint scanner, but the context is unclear.
Along with the new tablet Google is probably going to release a new version of Android, version 4.5, which is also a speculation at this point, they still might surprise everyone and make that jump to version 5.0.
Do you think this leak is a new Nexus tablet? What do you think it will be called and who will manufacture it?

Here’s how to to get that Harman Kardon sound on your new HTC One
The recent introduction of a special edition One M8 by Sprint, which features some sound-enhancing software from Harman Kardon, had a few owners of HTC’s flagship feeling slightly neglected. Thankfully, nursed by the beauty of Android’s open ecosystem, the great minds over at XDA Developers have figured out a way to get the Clari-fi sound feature up and running in just about any US model of the new HTC One. Not surprisingly, you’ll need to root your M8 in order to make this happen — as always, do this only if you feel comfortable with a bit of unsupported tinkering.
After gaining deep access, some files will need to be downloaded to and installed on your device as part of the process. And to assist with that, our friends from The Unlockr have written a detailed tutorial to help install Harman Kardon’s audio goods on your very own HTC One. If everything goes according to plan, you should be able to hear what all the fuss is about the next time you boot up and play some tunes. Because sound does matter.

Get the best phones of 2013 for a penny on Amazon

Technology is great. Every year devices get stronger and more powerful. To me, last year was a breakthrough year in regards for smartphone development because we had finally reached a point where we had enough RAM and processing power to run most apps seemingly effortlessly.
In 2013, the potential customer had to pick their potential phone based on things other than specs (i.e. build quality, camera, screen size, etc.). These Flagships from last year can still compete with the best phones of today.
Because last generations big name phones still perform superbly, I have no problem recommending any them to those inquiring about which phone to purchase.
With that being said, I am again making that recommendation as Amazon has last year’s flagships on sale for 1 red cent with a 2-year contract.
Whether its the fit and finish of the HTC One (M7), the endless features of the Samsung Galaxy S4, or the battery life of the LG G2, there is a smartphone here to fit your needs.
So go ahead, don’t be nervous about buying one of these phones as they still perform spectacularly and will be relevant for some time to come. For a penny you can’t go wrong.

5.5-inch HTC M8 Prime due this fall – report says

HTC is rumored to be working on a true competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 to be released later this fall.
Last year HTC attempted to make an entrance into the phablet world with the ONE Max but did not have much success. The device received lackluster reviews and sales never really took off. HTC may fare better the second time around if these new rumors hold true. The supposed “HTC One M8 Prime” is rumored to have a 5.5 inch quad HD (1,440 x 2,560) display, 2.3GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 5-Ultrapixel camera with a rather uncommon 18MP sensor that will better aid with depth calculation. Additionally, we’re told to look for USB 3.0 and 3GB of RAM. Talk about a powerhouse!
Keep in mind none of this is official, meaning HTC has not acknowledged any of these rumors. Well, maybe they have.
The device is supposedly due to arrive around this September so we will keep an eye out for any more news on this rumored device.

Here’s what the new HTC One might have looked like
The new HTC One may seem like a logical evolution of the original design, but that wasn’t guaranteed — just the opposite, according to company Creative Director Daniel Hundt. He tells Stuff in an interview that the original guideline was to “start with a chunk of metal” and go from there. As proof, the designer has early design sketches of the many concepts CEO Peter Chou told us about earlier, showing everything from a near-flat One body to a super-curvy front and back. Hardware should look like it’s the “natural result” of its material, Hundt says, and shouldn’t be guided primarily by specs like the battery size.
That’s not to say that HTC was unwilling to let a few hardware elements dictate its design. The antennas and speakers needed space, and the microSD card slot is a response to customer feedback. However, the goal when possible was to keep the smartphone’s basic shape intact. Hundt believes that the company made the “right trade-offs” to get the intended form factor, even if it ultimately led to competitors having a few features that HTC lacks.

The director also gives a few hints as to where the next One is going. The company has certain “signature elements” that it wants to keep, such as the chin, forehead and rear lines. It’s likewise pushing for even more metal next time around, and it’s “looking into” Galaxy S5-style waterproofing. Hundt isn’t revealing much beyond that, but it’s clear that the phone maker isn’t planning a radical break from its recent past. You’ll likely have to wait until next year to learn more about the One’s sequel, then, but you can check out our video interview with Peter Chou below if you’re looking for more insights on the smartphone you can buy today.

HTC One M8 Prime seemingly confirmed by HTC Product Manager’s hostile Response
Yesterday, we heard the rumour of a potential HTC One M8 Prime device that would include several updated components compared to the original HTC One M8. These improvements allegedly include an upgrade to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, as well as an upgrade to the screen from 1080p to the vaunted 2K resolution. While it’s unknown whether this device actually exists or not, its existence may have inadvertently been implied by a hostile response from one of HTC‘s own Product Managers.
@evleaks it’s up your butt
— Leigh Momii (@jetleigh) May 6, 2014
Responding to an evleaks tweet that suggested that the HTC One M8 Prime has an interesting feature that isn’t perhaps something tangible, Leigh Momii, Product Manager at HTC, responded with “it’s up your butt”. Whether this retort related specifically to evleaks’ suggestion about the M8 Prime’s feature or a jibe at the man himself, this wouldn’t be the first time that a HTC representative has taken justice into their own hands (see Jeff Gordon’s reaction to a leaked video here). Still, it does seem like Momii’s response has touched a nerve regarding with the HTC One M8 Prime, so we’ll see if anything else develops in the near future.
Still, it’s intriguing to consider what evleaks might be referring to; is it some kind of software? What do you think evleaks might be referring to? Let us know in the comments.

You know you want it: leaked HTC One M8 looks pretty in Pink
We know that the HTC One M8 can now be had in gold or even platinum, but what about a colour that’s slightly off the beaten path. Master of leaks, evleaks, has today leaked a press render of a HTC One M8 that is looking very pretty in pink. Given that its predecessor, the original HTC One, was available in additional colours like red and blue, it’s not surprising to see HTC coming out with more coloured variants for its new 2014 flagship.
Pink smartphones don’t generally get sold anywhere outside of Asia, however it would be interesting to see if they would make an impact in some of the bigger Western markets particularly if they are targeted at the female audience. Personally, I think the pink HTC One M8 is actually quite striking, and not in a bad way either.
