A red HTC One M8 spotted in photos from Taiwan
We’ve seen the HTC One M8 in quite a few colours now including blue, gold, platinum and even pink. The latest variation of the device spotted in the wild is a red HTC One M8 which was seen in HTC‘s home country of Taiwan. In the fairly extensive run-down, the source takes pictures of the packaging of the red M8 as well as the device from multiple angles (clearly the source liked red devices since the HP laptop featured in the photos was also red).
HTC apparently officially announced the red M8 yesterday and is being sold in multiple retail stores in Taiwan already. Whether this coloured variant will be seen in other countries around the world isn’t clear yet, but if it is, you can bet certain carriers are going to be all over it (read: Verizon and Vodafone).
What do you think about the red HTC One M8? Which is your favourite coloured variant of the ones we’ve seen so far, or which colour would you like to see? Let us know your opinion in the comments.

HTC’s One Mini 2 is an awkwardly named, cut-down version of the excellent One M8
The HTC One Mini 2 is here, and surprise, it looks just like the One M8. But despite its similar appearance, this miniature handset has been downgraded in almost every department. Even still, the Mini 2 remains a great option for those on a budget who want that premium feel.

HTC One Remix is coming to Verizon

HTC One (M8) is HTC’s flagship and pretty much everyone knows that, however HTC is dangerously stepping into Samsung’s territory by pushing HTC One brand on a bunch of devices.
HTC already announced HTC One (M8) Harmon Kardon edition, we’ve had some leaks of HTC One (M8) mini and now HTC One Remix name has surfaced. HTC looks eager to push as many devices they can with the HTC One brand. There’s not much to go on here, all it says in the leak is “HTC One Remix” and “coming to Verizon” but it has plenty of credibility considering it’s coming from @evleaks, considering their track record of course, plus there’s a “HTC One Remix” entry in USPTO filing so the device is definitely a reality.
What do you think/hope this device will turn out to be, another music centered device or maybe something unexpected, a hardware change perhaps? We can only guess, until then you can find our HTC One review here, David did a great job on it and confirmed it’s one of the best smartphones around.

HTC One mini 2 gets its official launch

HTC UK have today officially announced the launch of the much rumoured One Mini 2, the little brother of their extremely popular flagship HTC One (M8) Android smartphone.
With the covers finally taken off, the One Mini 2 is very similar to rumoured design and specs that have been doing the rounds. As expected it is a scaled down version of the bigger sibling but it still packs some impressive hardware and the same eye pleasing design features found on the One M8 although It doesn’t have Duo Cameras with UltraPixel, just a more standard set-up of a single 13-megapixel lens on the rear but is sporting a new wide-angle 5MP front facing camera.
HTC have decided to opt for a MicroSD slot on the Mini 2 plus a lager 2100 mAh battery and BoomSound stereo speakers at the front. Under the hood , its running a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of internal storage.
The handset will run on the latest Android version of 4.4 KitKat, with Sense 6.0 in the mix and sport the same three colour options as the M8 (gunmetal gray, glacial silver and amber gold). It will be available in European stores from June 2014 and hopefully it will be inbound to the US soon.

The HTC One Mini 2 is now official, a mid-range smartphone for the selfie Lover
We’ve been seeing the rumours for some time and now the HTC One Mini 2 has been official announced. The specs are pretty much as we expected for a mini version of the HTC One M8; a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, a 4.5-inch 720p display, and a 2,100mAh battery. One of the more intriguing characteristics of the One Mini 2 is the fact that it actually possesses a microSD slot, something that has always been a major criticism of HTC flagship smartphones.
As we also expected, the One Mini 2 will have Sense 6.0 themed Android 4.4, though it’s definitely the cameras that deserve an additional look. While the HTC One M8 had the HTC Duo Camera configuration, the One Mini 2 is ditching that and the UltraPixel technology to simply have a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP wide-angle camera on the front. While it’s definitely interesting that HTC actually left its beloved UltraPixel camera out of the One Mini 2, this makes it a genuinely viable device for people who want decent camera and selfie performance. The HTC One Mini 2 is going to be available in three colours to start with including Gunmetal Gray, Glacial Silver and Amber Gold, and is expected to be released in EMEA regions and Asia sometime in June; availability in other regions has not yet been specified and prices have not been divulged.
What do you think about the HTC One Mini 2 now that it has been fully revealed? How do you think it shapes up to the Motorola Moto G? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

HTC’s One Mini 2 is an awkwardly named, cut-down version of the excellent One M8
There’s a lot riding on today’s announcement. A smaller, cheaper, perhaps more mainstream version of the lovely (but long) HTC One M8 could be a good thing not only for phone buyers, but also for HTC itself, which urgently needs to capitalize on the M8′s momentum. Well, the HTC One Mini 2 is here, and yes, its 4.5-inch display makes it significantly easier to hold in one hand, and it’s certainly going to be more affordable (although we don’t have exact pricing just yet). But this size-reduced handset is fundamentally different to the M8 in other ways too, especially on the inside. That’s why HTC has deliberately avoided calling it the “M8 Mini,” for fear of over-hyping it — a decision that probably deserves some praise for its honesty, but which has resulted in some pretty clumsy branding. We’ve just been hands-on with the European LTE version of the phone (the only variant that has so far been announced), so go ahead and read on for our initial impressions and the key specs.
On the subject of whether smaller phones necessarily ought to be lesser phones, it’s clear that HTC doesn’t agree with Sony, and it doesn’t want to tread the same path as the high-specced Xperia Z1 Compact. The One Mini 2 is aesthetically very similar to its larger sibling, which is a good thing, but internally it has been downgraded in every major department, not least in relying on a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip (with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage) instead of the extremely battery-efficient Snapdragon 801 in the M8. On the other hand, those upgrading from a last-gen HTC One Mini might seem some improvement in performance, but the older phone’s chip was only dual-core, not quad.

The One Mini 2 also drops the M8′s secondary depth camera and Ultrapixel sensor in favor of a more bog-standard, 13-megapixel module — not a bad switch, perhaps, to those who regard HTC “Duo Camera” as a gimmick, but to our minds it’s a serious compromise that results in obviously worse low-light performance, and frankly we’ll miss the M8′s fast and enjoyable selective-focus effects.

Then again, other key parts of the HTC One experience are very much present and correct in this smaller model. That includes the generous dollop of aluminum that makes up much — although not all — of the phone’s chassis, and which is a huge help in giving the phone a premium air. The 720p LCD display (not 1080p like the M8) stood up well during our limited time with the phone, and the pixel density is fine. There’s room for a microSD drawer (phew!) as well as front-facing BoomSound speakers that provide audio quality you simply wouldn’t expect from a phone of this size. A healthy 5MP front-facing camera will take care of your selfies using HTC’s well-designed camera app, and of course you’re also going to get the same friendly, useful Sense 6 skin on top of Android, including Zoe Highlight Videos and BlinkFeed.
Expect to see the One Mini 2 in European stores from the end of this month, with the same three color options as the M8 (gunmetal gray, glacial silver and amber gold), and stay tuned for news of a US variant, which must surely be inbound soon. Meanwhile, we’ll get to work on a full review to test out things like battery life — the One Mini 2 only packs a 2,100mAh battery, but raw figures never tell us everything.

HTC One (M8): 1 month and counting

So its been a little over month since i’ve had my hands on my HTC One (M8) and all I have to say is, “Best phone I have ever used“. Sure you might be saying, “But David, you haven’t had the pleasure of getting your heart rate checked on my S5″ or “Hey David, Android has nothing on my iPhone’s finger print reader.” Ok, I hear you and all I am going to say is watch the Gary Oldman video here and let the video speak for itself.
However, I am going to do a quick recap of the One review I did last April and let you know if I have changed my thoughts on certain features of the device!
Design:
The phone is still beautiful as ever, but I have slapped a Tech 21 case on it just for good measure, I despise covering up this metal masterpiece. However, it is slippery and I feel that is might fall out of my hand! I haven’t dropped it yet, thank goodness. The phone fits great in my hand and I know some people have issues hitting the power button, but the double tap on the screen really eliminates the need for it.
Display:
The display has been fantastic, especially on sunny days at the beach! I have slapped on a Skinomi screen protector, just for good measure. HTC is still offering a free replacement screen if you happen to drop it within the first 6 months, through their “HTC Advantage Program.”
Hardware:
The One is wicked fast! I’ve throughly enjoyed being able to jump from one app or game to another without any hesitation. I’ve also preloaded about 20GB of music onto my microSD card which has performed flawlessly.
Battery Life:
I still find myself around 40% before I slap it on the charger at night. Now my daily routine is: up at 5:15am, drive to the gym (while playing music), workout with my bluetooth headset, go to work and return home around 5:00pm (medium usage) and having my Fitbit Flex connected and syncing in the background throughout the day. Overall the battery life couldn’t be better, compared with my previous devices, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, Moto X, I feel that the One has surpassed them all.
I still haven’t received the “Extreme power saving mode” feature on my phone, but when I do I will let you know, but I have heard good things!
Software:
I have really enjoyed getting use to Sense 6. It is very easy to navigate and quite customizable compared to other headsets. I have never had to restart my device because it was frozen or locked up. I am a veteran user of Android, but I feel that even a beginner could easily navigate the settings to find whatever they needed. HTC has done a superb job at making it super easy to find what you are looking throughout the phone. No complaints here!
BlinkFeed:
I never thought I would use BlinkFeed as much as I do, but it is just so easy to get all my social media updates in one place. Even when the phone is locked I just swipe right and voila, BlinkFeed is ready to go and showing me everything I want to see! I have been very impressed with this feature!
BoomSound:
It’s loud, clear, and it BOOMS! Enough said!
DuoCamera:
I have really enjoyed the camera app on the One. It is easy to navigate and offers a host of filters and effects to create some really cool pictures. With all that aside, the camera in general performs great, low light, bright light, it doesn’t matter. The camera performs as a camera should. The below slideshow is a picture with some applied effects.
Overall:
The HTC One has performed flawlessly, as it should. I haven’t had any disappointments with the device and I still highly recommend it to anyone looking for an awesome device, inside and out! Let me know what you think of your One or if you have any questions, just post them in the comments below!

In true ‘Mini’ fashion, Sense 6 on the HTC One Mini 2 will be missing a few Features
It’s now almost expected than ‘mini’ versions of flagship smartphones will always make some pretty big concessions when compared to their larger counterparts; bar the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, ‘mini’ devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini have been disappointingly underpowered and ill-equipped while still keeping a premium price-tag. If the latest leak from evleaks is anything to go by, the HTC One Mini 2 isn’t going to be any different as evleaks suggests that Sense 6 on the HTC One Mini 2 will be missing quite a few features.
Evleaks says that the One Mini 2 (also referred to as the One M8 Mini), besides the obvious omission of the Duo Camera, will also be missing HTC Zoe, Fitbit, Motion Launch, and Pan 360 photos. That’s quite a few features to be omitted, if true, as many of those features were very heavy advertised as advantages of the HTC One M8. Hopefully, given that the One Mini 2 will be a fairly basic device without these features, perhaps HTC will price the device more appropriately than the original HTC One Mini, though we aren’t holding our breaths.
What do you think about the possibility of the HTC One Mini 2 missing all the features that made the HTC One M8 so attractive? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Blue HTC One (M8) shows its face in a leaked render

HTC One (M8) is definitely one of the best (Android) handsets of the year so far. The HTC flagship is available in 3 colors, Gunmetal Gray, Glacier Silver, and Amber Gold. While it has been leaked in red we’ve never seen it in blue, until now that is.
A blue version of HTC One (M8) has surfaced, courtesy of evleaks. Considering their track record we’re quite confident this metallic blue color will become official in the near future. The color reminds us of a metallic blue version o M8′s predecessor, HTC One (M7).
What do you think about this color, do you like it or not? Maybe you’re waiting for some other color option?
