ASUS brings the affordable ZenFone 2 Laser to the U.S. for only $199

ASUS has just announced that it’s bringing the affordable ZenFone 2 Laser to the United States starting today. First announced back in early August 2015, this new device features similar specs to those of the ZenFone 2 proper, and comes with a few additional features.
It sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and Gorilla Glass 4, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 16 or 32GB of on-board storage, microSD expansion up to 128GB and a removable 3000mAh battery. Health o meter nuyu announces the availability of the new Sleep System
According to WebMD.com and Sleep.org, temperature is a major factor in putting and keeping you asleep. Up to 60% of Americans experience sleep issues that effect their mood, relationships, work and even quality of life. I genuinely have insomnia and can verify that lack of sleep really does have negative effects on my life.
Back in January of 2015, Health o meter nuyu announced a new Sleep System which is the world’s first Bluetooth connected device which promises to improve sleep through a temperature controlled sleep mat. The new Sleep System will monitor your body temperature and adjust your bed temperature using a proprietary algorithm to keep you in your circadian sleep cycle. Health o meter nuyu offers a 100% complete satisfaction guarantee ensuring your happiness with your purchase while avoiding another useless device. Your sleep habits and body temperatures can be tracked using an app and is compatible with iOS and Android.
The Circadian rhythm is your body’s 24-hour clock, and the sleep cycle is an integral part of that. Before artificial light and temperature-controlled rooms, we fell asleep as the sun set. Our bodies cooled as the ground and air became cooler through the night. When the sun rose, our bodies gradually warmed and we woke naturally, feeling refreshed. This temperature fluctuation throughout the night is part of our natural sleep cycle and is what allows you to feel more rested in the morning, but with modern technology many of us have become disconnected from this natural rhythm. For a detailed report on the effects of temperature and sleep, please see Skin Deep: enhanced sleep depth by cutaneous temperature manipulation.
- 90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee, love it or your money back!
- Uses a proprietary algorithm which proactively adjusts to the ideal temperature at each moment of the night.
- Starting temperature range: 67° – 105°
- Machine washable 2′ x 3′ sleep mat, washer bag included
- Works with free nuyu™ app
- 90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee
- 5 Year Limited Warranty
You can now purchase the Health o meter nuyu Sleep system at www.healthometernuyu.com, Amazon.com, Bed, Bath & Beyond.com, and Hammacher Schlemmer.com for $499.99.
The Health o meter nuyu Sleep System was originally funded on Indiegogo.com.

Serial season 2 will stream on Pandora ‘exclusively’
If for some reason you can’t access the next season of the popular mystery podcast Serial on iTunes, Stitcher, or any number of other podcasting apps out there, you’ll be able to hear it on Pandora. The music streaming site will be the “exclusive streaming partner” for Serial season 2, which will reportedly focus on the disappearance of former prisoner of war Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Never mind that many podcasting apps allow you to stream shows without subscribing to them. This deal won’t affect Serial’s distribution in any other way — you’ll still be able to find it on iTunes or subscribe in your current podcasting app. While it might seem like a pretty weak exclusive, the deal will likely open up Serial to a whole new audience who probably aren’t following podcast trends. The first season of the podcast will debut on Pandora on November 24. Given that discovery is one of the bigger issues for most podcasts, this arrangement with Pandora makes sense, even if it’s not something most Serial fans will care about.

T-Mobile wants to put a mini LTE tower in your home
T-Mobile has done a fair amount to get LTE into every nook and cranny of its coverage map, but that doesn’t matter much if there’s still a cellular dead zone in your home or office. You might not have that issue from now on, though. The Magenta network is launching a 4G LTE CellSpot that promises full-fledged LTE calling and data — you’re not making do with 3G here. You only need an LTE-capable phone and a broadband internet connection to fill in those gaps.

SoundCloud’s latest mobile app helps share your audio creations
SoundCloud has made much ado over playing its eclectic audio mix from your phone. But what if you’re a creator who wants to make sure those tracks blow up? That’s where the new SoundCloud Pulse might come in handy. The Android app currently lets you share audio, track the popularity of your work and respond to comments. That may not sound like much, but SoundCloud is promising a lot more in the future. Among other things, you’ll eventually get to edit track info and upload new content directly — helpful if you just have to record a podcast episode on your phone. There’s no mention of when these features or a promised iOS version will arrive. However, it’s clear that SoundCloud doesn’t want you to retreat to a computer just to manage your masterpieces.

‘Star Trek’ (kinda) returns to TV in January 2017
CBS has announced that it’s going to make a brand new Star Trek TV series that’ll begin airing in January 2017. The corporation has shoved a big pile of money in the face of Star Trek and Into Darkness co-writer Alex Kurtzman to be in charge of this new series. If you’re eagerly soldering your TV’s remote to make sure it can never be switched away from your local CBS affiliate, we’d suggest holding off for just a second. That’s because only the first episode or two will air on broadcast TV, with the rest of the series becoming an exclusive for CBS’ homegrown online subscription service, All Access.

Gfinity needs more cash to build its UK eSports empire
Although demand for eSports continues to rise every day, helped by Twitch and YouTube, making money from competitive gaming can be hard (unless you’re a successful player). It’s a struggle that UK eSports events company Gfinity knows all too well after it revealed it lost £3.6 million in its first full year. Given that the company invested heavily in getting its business off the ground, which includes the launch of the UK’s first dedicated arena, the loss doesn’t come as a surprise, but it does highlight the need to quickly convert its growing audience into paying customers.

Smaller fingerprint sensors are on the way

Fingerprint sensors are already rather discreetly embedded into a number of high-end smartphones, but the technology could be about to shrink down even further. Newly announced recognition algorithms developed by Crucialtec will enable smaller module sizes, while still retaining high speed and accuracy of detection.
Crucialtec has developed a micro-surface area fingerprint recognition algorithm called ‘Muon’, which it will begin supplying to domestic and foreign business soon. The algorithm can successfully identify fingerprints with a false acceptance rate of less than 1/50,000 with a minimum recognition area of 8mm2. Typically, larger detection areas are required in order to provide enough detail for an algorithm to detect unique characteristics about a finger. The new algorithm can presumable identify these unique characteristics with a smaller data set.
Rather than large panels on the back of a phone or embedded into home buttons, this type of technology will enable fingerprint scanners to fit into more discreet locations, such as a volume or power button, or simply into a bezel. Crucialtec’s algorithm can detect a fingerprint using a module as small as 18.72 mm2 (5.2 x 3.6 mm), while the sensor inside the new Nexus 5X and 6P comes in at 64 mm2 (8.0 x 8.0 mm).

As well as improving area efficiency, Crucialtec is working to improve the speed of the fingerprint recognition process. The company claims to have performed the three major steps; image processing, characteristic extraction and encoding/storage; in just 0.3 seconds.
As Android 6.0 Marshmallow now supports fingerprint scanning technology as standard, we could see increased support for hardware in upcoming devices. Crucialtec’s algorithm could make for some sleeker looking, faster devices with built in fingerprint sensors. Exciting stuff.
