Jawbone countersues Fitbit over activity tracker patent ‘abuse’
Jawbone isn’t letting up on its plan to sue Fitbit into oblivion any time soon. The wearable maker has responded to a Fitbit patent lawsuit (itself meant as a response to Jawbone) with a countering suit of its own, accusing Fitbit of abusing its patents in a “plainly meritless” case. Of course, as we’ve seen in previous tech lawsuits, the patents are really incidental here — this is ultimately about pressuring Fitbit into settling a case it might otherwise try to fight in court.

Humble Mobile Bundle 16 now available with Block Legend, ALONE… and more

The most recent KEMCO-themed Humble Bundle from mid-October brought a handful of great JRPGs to your Android device for a low price point. If you were looking for a little more variety, though, perhaps the latest Humble Bundle will do the trick. In the new Humble Mobile Bundle 16, you can grab six premium Android titles for an extremely low price point. Normally all of these games combined, if purchased separately from the Play Store, would cost around $54, but today you can get them for just over $4!
This is a two-tier bundle, so you’ll be able to pay just $1 to download the first three games, or you’ll need to beat the average price to get access to all six of these games. If you pay just $1, you’ll get:
- Outwitters (Humble Edition)
- Block Legend
- Rocket ROBO
Want all six titles? You’ll need to beat the average donation price (currently sitting at $4.17). Here’s what you’ll get if you beat the average:
- Ys Chronicles 1
- Space Marshals
- ALONE…
All of these games are DRM-free, and you can even choose where your money goes – between the developers and two charitable causes (Direct Relief and Worldreader). If you’re interested in picking up these great games for yourself, head on over to the source link attached below to get started.
FindMyPhone.com is on sale for a whopping $5 million
If you’ve ever lost your smartphone or had it taken from you, you’ve probably tried numerous procedures to try and get it back. Maybe you’ve tried downloading a third-party application, or simply tried calling your device from another phone. If these methods haven’t helped you recover a lost or stolen phone in the past, perhaps you’ve done a quick Google search for “find my phone.” While there, have you ever visited FindMyPhone.com as a last-ditch effort?
Unfortunately there’s nothing on that website that could be of assistance at the moment. That’s because FindMyPhone.com is currently on sale for a whopping $5 million. Obviously this is a ton of money and it might not end up selling for that much, but that’s still a huge chunk of change to spend on a single domain.
Surprisingly, even if it does sell for the whole $5M, FindMyPhone.com wouldn’t come close to being the most expensive domain name of all time. According to Business Insider, the most expensive domain names in existence are mostly sex and money-related, with some selling for around $10M a piece. It would, however, be the most expensive technology-related domain ever, with Xiaomi’s Mi.com and Computer.com following close behind at $3.6M and $2.1M, respectively.
Like we said before, FindMyPhone.com might not be sold for that much, but it will likely go for a pretty good amount of money. What do you think the domain will end up selling for? $5 million, or much less than that?
Snowden’s favorite secure chat services unite in one Android app
Want to keep your text and voice chats truly private, the way NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden does? You’ll want to try Open Whisper Systems’ Signal for Android, then. The newly launched, Snowden-approved app merges OWS’ existing RedPhone and TextSecure products into a single client — you can communicate over an end-to-end encrypted connection without having to switch apps as you switch formats. The code is open source, too, so you can verify that there aren’t any government back doors. It’s really just an amalgam of features you’ve seen before, but it could make a big difference if you’re determined to keep your conversations away from prying eyes.

The ‘tablet’ for your wrist has arrived
Yes, someone actually made a wearable “tablet.” And no, we’re not talking about the Neptune Pine, which is basically an oversized watch that doubles as a phone. This new device, dubbed Rufus Cuff, features a 3.2-inch screen and, since launching as an Indiegogo campaign in 2014, has promised to be more than a smartwatch. Rufus Labs, the company behind it, says its product “ends the era of the watch and ushers in the wrist communicator.” Aside from that ludicrous display size (compared to other wearables designed to be worn on your wrist), it also features a TI Cortex A9 processor, front-facing camera for pictures/video, GPS, WiFi and a 1,1175mAh battery. Although you can use an iPhone to take calls with it, thanks to the built-in speaker, dual microphones and Bluetooth support, Rufus Cuff is powered by Android Kit Kat.

Google’s monthly security patches have begun rolling out to Nexus owners
Following the spread of the Stagefright virus, Google decided to provide monthly security updates to its Nexus devices. Starting today, Nexus owners can download the security update over the air.
So far Google has been extremely reliant when it comes to its monthly security updates. Today marks only the second of November and Google has already begun pushing out the patches to its Nexus devices. Google says the update is being rolled out over the year and everyone should get the notification within 48 hours. Google will also post the new factory images shortly.
With the update, Google has patched many security exploitations that reportedly have the potential to take control of your device to gain information. We highly recommend installing the update soon after you receive it to ensure that your device’s information is kept private. Google’s drone delivery service could see light in 2017
BBC just stated a release date for Google’s Project Wing. The tech giant is reportedly aiming for 2017 as a possible release.
For those of you not familiar with Project Wing, it’s one of many projects Google is working on. The project consists of a drone delivery service. The service would make it seamless to have groceries and/or packages delivered right to your doorstep. However, Google might be targeting a specific audience rather than the whole world with this new program.
Retailers such as Amazon and Alibaba are considering the new service. It’s an interesting concept that may have the potential to go the distance, but if Google is seriously thinking about going big in the future, they will have their work cut out for themselves. We’ll keep you posted with any movement.

LuguLake Swan Wireless Speaker – Great things come in small packages (Review)
The elegant LuguLake Swan Wireless speaker fits both aesthetically and auditorily in the modern chic home. With its black circular shape and craned head, it produces clear audio in 360 degrees and looks good doing it. Additionally, the size is perfect for fitting into a hand while moving around the house while you play your jams.
If you’re at all curious about the name LuguLake, its name is derived from the actual Lugu Lake in China. It is quite a storied lake, Kublai Khan and his Mongolian army even established their army headquarters just south of Lugu Lake. After doing some research, I found the pictures of the actual Lugu Lake to be quite beautiful and see where the Swan Wireless speaker derives its beautiful form from.
Design
The LuguLake Swan Wireless Speaker is about the size of a small apple and was actually a little smaller than expected, but sometimes good things come in small packages. The speaker itself points upwards towards a small cone that gently pulses red while in use that they call a “breathing light”. The speaker pointing up at the breathing light creates a full 360 degree sound spectrum, meaning you don’t have to point the direction at your ears to make it sound clear.
On the top of the LuguLake Swan Wireless speaker there are a few buttons to control your audio: volume up, volume down, next track, previous track, and a bluetooth pairing button. The bluetooth pairing button is used for play/pause, when media is playing, and also doubles as the answer and reject call button (long press/short press) when a call comes in and is also also used to hang up a call. Lastly, speaker charges over USB like any other modern gadget and has a physical on/off switch on it’s bottom.
The speaker also comes with NFC built in making for a very simple pairing. All you have to do is make sure NFC is enabled on your smartphone and simply tap to connect against the speaker.
The Lugulake Swan Wireless speaker also comes with a built-in Li-Ion battery and can be recharged using a standard micro-USB plug.
Usage
I was surprised in the office twice by coworkers poking their head into my office to comment on how surprising it was that such a small speaker could be heard four offices down the hall. Both insisting that I continue blasting my classic rock Spotify station because they enjoyed the Swan so much. One of them even asked me for a link on Amazon.com and purchased one for himself the moment he left my office.
The speaker really does sound great from any angle and it plays loud enough to entertain in a room with people talking (or be heard four offices down). The breathing light is actually pretty soothing and the speaker itself looks great on any of the tables or desks I’ve had it sitting on while listening. On my first day with the LuguLake Swan Wireless Speaker I accidentally left it on while falling asleep, which turned out to be a mistake. It woke me up in the early morning notifying me “Battery Low”, so be careful to power it off before bed! The battery does get a good long haul of playing in, it lasted through an entire day of playing music at high volumes while I worked with only being turned off a couple times.
In addition to being a speaker for listening to music, it also served as a great tool for taking phone calls. I took a couple of conference calls on it and wasn’t tethered to my desk using my traditional phone line. This came in handy when I had to leave my office to check on some chemical reactions in my lab a few doors down.
Specs
- Advanced Bluetooth 4.0 technology. Home-developed module and high transfer speed. It offers Hi-Fi audio quality and comes with 2 full range Neodymium driver, offering rich and clear sound quality
- Zinc alloy built body. Easy to operate – it comes with a touch sense control panel.
- The Swan Wireless Bluetooth speaker comes with Hands free Call Voice Promote functionality which enables you to receive calls on the go. A simple touch of the Bluetooth lights transforms it to a Speaker phone.
- Package included: 1 * LuguLake Swan bluetooth 4.0 speaker, 1 * usb charging cable, 1 * user manual. Size: 85 x 80 x 85 mm
Summary
The LuguLake Swan Wireless Speaker is a beautiful little speaker with good output for it’s size. It projects 360 degrees of high-quality sound with beauty, making it a great buy for anyone who likes their accessories to match their style. For sale on Amazon.com at $40, the LuguLake Swan Wireless speaker does offer great features while being simple to use. You really don’t need to spend a ton of money these days to get high-quality Bluetooth speakers.
You can check out the LuguLake Swan Wireless speaker at Amazon.com.

Scientists map world first 3D image of cancer-spreading protein
Scientists at Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics released the world’s first 3-D image of a protein that is linked to the spread of cancer. Where before scientists had to guess what the structure looked like, now they have a clear 3-D model meaning they can see how it works and develop targeted medicines to stop it before the protein can make matters worse. It was mapped using a technique called X-Ray crystallography and the team, lead by the institute’s Director Professor Mark von Itzstein, notes that the image is so well defined that it shows both the structure of the overall protein as well as atomic-level details.
