For a lot of people, the Android-powered BlackBerry Priv is an interesting proposition, but it’s still unclear whether it’s worth putting your hard-earned cash down for it. Well, in case you were waiting till a BlackBerry Priv in 24K gold was available, Vietnamese company Karalux might have just the thing for you. Ig gold is your thing, Karalux is offering a gold-plated BlackBerry Priv for $1,100 USD if you live in Vietnam, or $1,300 USD if you live anywhere else in the world. A plating service for existing Priv’s is also available for $350 USD, but only if you reside in Karalux’s native Vietnam.

BlackBerry Priv in 24K goldNote that the plating that Karalux is doing doesn’t really do the main external surfaces, rather plating highlights like the ring around the camera sensor, the side buttons, the display trim, and the back of the display which slides out when the physical keyboard is in use. That’s probably why the price isn’t as high as some of the other gold modifications we’ve seen, but you’ll still need deep pockets if you’re planning on nabbing yourself one. If that still has you interested, you can find more details on the Karalux website.

Amazon recruits help from Jeremy Clarkson to plug Amazon Prime Air

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear stable mates signed up to a monstrous deal with Amazon earlier this year and perhaps predictably, the former face of the UK motoring show is being used to market quite a few of Amazon’s new endeavours,with Amazon most recently getting help from Jeremy Clarkson to plug Amazon Prime Air. While drone delivery is technically still outlawed in the US, the new ad has aired to no doubt drum up some hype with Clarkson’s star power. Check out the ad below:

You’ll notice that the Amazon drones look a little different than before, with Amazon clearly busy trying to make drone deliveries a reality – that said, Amazon says that they are working on “more than a dozen prototypes” so really this might not even be the design when the service is officially launched. The Amazon Prime Air service itself will be used to deliver goods weighing 5 pounds or less within a 30 minute radius of its warehouse – the service will even support notifications to let you know that your package is incoming. As for when it’s actually going to be launched, you’ll need to wait and see what the government’s upcoming commercial drone laws are going to say and whether that disagrees with how Amazon wants to operate its drone service.

App turns your writing into trippy 3D images

It’s easy to imagine a piece of art in your head, but making it real is another matter if you’re not an artist. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could simply describe what you wanted? WordsEye is trying just that. Its beta web app lets you describe a scene using natural-language text, and uses statistical parsing to translate that into a 3D image. You can name objects and their qualities using terms that are as fuzzy or exacting as you like, including relative concepts like position. It’s easy to use, although the results can be more than a little surreal — just look at the pictured rat on a cat on a Christmas cow if you need proof.

It could be fun and we’ll tell you more when we find out more.
  • In preparation for The Force Awakens, there will be a new Star Wars VR app coming to Google Cardboard on December 2nd. The app will let people view some stuff in full VR that ties directly into the introduction of the movie. This is something fans definitely won’t want to miss.
  • Speaking of Star Wars, if you go to google.com/starwars you can join the dark side or light side. Once you do, a select number of Google’s apps will do some fun stuff based on your decision. Some of the apps include Chromecast, Gmail, Google Chrome, Google Calendar, and YouTube.

NSA can no longer collect info on your phone calls

NSASpyingACLUBigBrother thelibertarianrepublic

Rest your tinfoil hats, folks (at least for a bit). Today opens a new era in North American history. One in which the NSA can no longer freely collect data on your telephone calls. Effective midnight, last night, the National Security Agency can no longer grab phone call information from carriers without a proper procedure. Carriers will be the only ones holding this data from now on, making it available to the NSA only with a court order.

“(The new system) allows national security professionals to retain the capabilities necessary to continue protecting the country, while strengthening the civil liberties protections that the American people cherish.”-James R. Clapper, The Office of the Director of National Intelligence

Before this, the NSA was able to grab all kinds of data from your phone activity. This includes numbers, call length and sometimes even location. Needless to say this is considered a form of invasion of privacy, making today a victorious day for security buffs.

NSA Surveillance Protest

And this is not really the dirtiest trick they have played on us. The NSA has been known to hack SIM cards, steal Huawei’s source code and use popular games to spy on people. In fact, it’s said they were planing on using the very Google Play Store to implant spyware on target smartphones. It’s a real mess!

But despite all of these issues, the NSA continues to fight for its power over communication information. Especially following recent world events which raise concerns on security. The NSA is now asking permission to keep its already collected data through February 29th, 2016.

NSA Spying Logo ConsciousLifeNews

So there you have it, guys! Another victory for the people! We know there are plenty of other things to worry about. After all, the NSA is not just gonna give up now. But having a victory under our sleeve is definitely special, wouldn’t you agree?

The Pirate Bay won’t be blocked on its home turf

Numerous countries order their internet service providers block The Pirate Bay, but its home country of Sweden won’t be one of them… at least, for now. A Stockholm court has ruled that Sweden can’t make ISPs block the piracy site, since those companies aren’t responsible for what their customers do. The networks aren’t participating in any crimes, according to the ruling — they’re just the delivery medium.

Hilarious ad promotes ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser and Zenfone Selfie as “sushi-proof”

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();

In my opinion, humour is the best way to market smartphones – I feel like it lets people know that you’re not taking yourself too seriously and humanizes your otherwise space-age designed smartphone. Taiwanese manufacturer ASUS has just released an ad for the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser and Zenfone Selfie which I think falls into that bucket. While smartphone display technology has progressed to the point where they are literally shatterproof, people are still reluctant to trust their impressively designed devices – ASUS wants to make light of that by having a sushi chef prepare sushi on one of their devices by using it as a cutting board. Check it out below:

While the above feat is probably possible on a number of devices, ASUS is promoting the ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser and Zenfone Selfie because they have Gorilla Glass 4. Given the quality of previous Gorilla Glass iterations, we have no reason to not believe that Gorilla Glass 4 is every bit as strong as it’s said to be – though somehow I don’t think many of us will be using our smartphones as a cutting board any time soon.

Amazon and Jeremy Clarkson hint at the future of delivery drones

Former Top Gear co-host Jeremy Clarkson isn’t just working on a new motoring show for Amazon… he’s helping the internet giant pitch its vision for delivery drones, too. Amazon has unveiled a splashy new Prime Air ad where Clarkson shows off a new, more powerful drone design (with promises of a “whole family” of others) and outlines how these robots would ship a pair of running shoes. All you’d have to do is place your order and plunk down a marker to tell the drone where to land. From there, the robot would use its mix of horizontal and vertical propellers to ferry your cargo (up to 15 miles from its home base) in 30 minutes or less. You’d even get a heads-up when the drone is close, so you wouldn’t have to worry about someone swiping your package the moment it arrives.
