A ‘Dragon Quest’ game is coming to PCs through Steam

'Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below'

At long last, you can get a Dragon Quest game on Steam… if not quite the role-playing game you might be hoping for. Square Enix has revealed that Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below is coming to Windows as a Steam download on December 3rd. The $60 title (already available on the PS3 and PS4) is really a slash-em-up that happens to be set in the DQ universe more than anything else — think Dynasty Warriors with slimes. Still, this is heartening news. Heroes was well-received when it hit consoles earlier this year, and its Windows launch raises hope that other follow-ups in the series (if not necessarily the much-hyped Dragon Quest XI) could one day be just a click away.

HTC cyber week deals: discounts on Nexus 9, One M9, RE camera and more

htc one m9 review aa (27 of 34)

I can already taste Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals (as well as the turkey). The internet is filling up with discount announcements (we have listed our favorites here) and now it’s HTC‘s turn. What will they have for us during America’s shopping hysteria?

best black friday dealsSee also: Black Friday 2015 – best deals (Updated!)20

The Taiwanese manufacturer has just announced its cyber week deals and they are looking quite enticing! There are discounts on a phone, tablet, camera and even accessories. Here are the details!

  • 11/25-11/27: 40% off Nexus 9 (free Logitech keyboard for first 500 32GB/LTE units sold.
  • 11/27-11/29: 40% off all accessories
  • 11/29-12/2: 60% off RE Camera (free protection pack)
  • 11/29-12/2: 40% off HTC One M9

Nexus 9-19

I must say these deals are actually quite tempting. It’s hard to find 40%-60% discounts on these types of electronics (unless you are signing a service contract).

HTC is in a bit of a tight spot after disappointing One M9 sales, so they may be trying extra hard to capitalize on this yearly event. They failed to really impress the public with that smartphone, but it happens to be a pretty decent device… especially at 40% off!

HTC RE-4

Reviews:

The Nexus 9 also continues to be a hell of a tablet, and that RE can take some sweet handheld videos and images. In fact, I think I might be signing up for that cam! Are you taking advantage of any of these deals? Hit the comments and let us know!

FanDuel warned staff against winning too often on rival sites

DraftKings Inc. And FanDuel Inc. Applications As Ad Spending Increases

DraftKings and FanDuel may have bitten off more than they can chew when they sued New York to keep their daily fantasy sports games alive in the state. FanDuel’s corporate policies from before it self-regulated have been entered into evidence, and some of them only seem to confirm worries about staff abusing their power while playing on rival sites. For a start, the site told workers to “never be among the top five” players on any daily fantasy site, or the top 10 on the tracking site RotoGrinders. They also couldn’t have disproportionate numbers of entries in tournaments, and they were supposed to avoid using information on player lineups whenever possible. In other words, don’t be too successful — we don’t want you raising suspicions that the games might be rigged.

Download Call of Champions from the Play Store

Original post (2/26): Spacetime Games, the developers behind Arcane Legends and Pocket Legends, have just announced their plans to bring a new MOBA-style game entitled Call of Champions to the Play Store sometime this year. Players will control unique characters through multiple different classes, fighting to be the top dog in each arena-based match. Call of Champions will limit each match to 5 minutes in order to deliver quickly-paced matches for on-the-go gameplay. The game will allow you to connect with and recruit other team members, plan matches, and earn achievements through the integrated social hub.

Here’s some more information about the upcoming game:

In the Call of Champions arena, players will be able to control one out of over twenty different Champions across five distinct classes, each coming equipped with their own unique playstyle and special abilities. Players will be immersed in a fiction that takes place in a time beyond the cosmos as they take on the role of a godlike entity that controls Champions in the arena for sport.

For those who’d like to experience the game early, Spacetime Studios is featuring the game in the world’s first mobile exhibition tournament at SXSW from March 13th-15th. Event attendees will be able to test their skills in Call of Champions against a team of Spacetime developers during the expo. Be sure to check out the official trailer below for more information.

Call of Champions will will launch as a free download in the Google Play Store and iOS App Store sometime in 2015. For more detailed information on the game, check out the official Call of Champions website.

Researchers create working electronics inside a rose

Close-up of red roses in a bouquet during Sant Jordi Festival, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Plants and electronics frequently get along, but you don’t see electronics in plants — not surprisingly, it’s hard to insert circuitry without killing the host. Swedish scientists just overcame one of the biggest hurdles to creating these strange cyborgs, however. They’ve successfully made the key elements of an electronic circuit inside of a rose and light up ions inside the flower’s leaves. The trick was to insert a special polymer that self-assembled into wires throughout the stem, carrying electricity without cutting off the flow of life-giving nutrients.

Select Nexus 6P units have broken microphones

nexus_6p_specs_labeled

The Nexus 6P is by no means a cheap phone. Google enlisted Huawei to make a premium device constructed of metal, but it seems that the Nexus 6P isn’t holding true to the $499 starting price. In October, rear panel glass was spontaneously shattering for some people. Quite bizarre, right? At least the most recent issue is very realistic and not nearly as random. The microphone’s functionality, according to multiple posts on the Google Product Forums, is posing a problem. There are owners of the Nexus 6P reporting that the phone’s microphone is not projecting their voice with strength or quality to people on the other end of a call.

Jamie Corbett, one of the Nexus 6P owners experiencing issues with his unit’s microphone, said the following in his post:

“While talking to my wife today she could barely hear me and said it sounded like I was very far away or muffled. This was while I had the headset to my ear like normal. If I put it on speaker, she said it would sound okay. I tried to find others with this issue and a similar issue, but couldn’t. Please help!”

Representatives on behalf of Google have only said that they are investigating the issue. One area that the company could be looking at is noise cancellation and the multiple microphones it takes to enable that. Apparently covering the microphone on the rear of the Nexus 6P alleviates the issue; however, others are discrediting that temporary solution and say it does nothing at all.

Let’s all just hope that Google can fix this through a software update instead of Huawei being forced to recall the Nexus 6P.
