Samsung lays claim to top spot in five sales regions around the world
Market research firm Strategy Analytics has released their latest analysis of smartphone sales around the world and for the most part, Samsung is likely pleased with the results. According to the numbers that were compiled, Samsung ranked first in terms of sales for the third quarter in five regions. The one point of frustration for Samsung will be the inability to capture the lead in the North American market as Apple continues to hold the top spot.
The five regions where Samsung is the top seller include Western Europe, Asia Pacific, Central and South America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East and African market. In just the Middle East and African market, Samsung achieved 52.1 percent market share after seeing unit sales jump by 3 million units to 16.1 million for the quarter. All together, Samsung sold 83.8 million smartphones in the six markets that Strategy Analytics looked at.
In the North American market, Samsung held on to 26 percent market share while Apple maintained 33 percent.
