Android Wear for iOS begins rolling out today
Google has begun rolling out Android Wear for iOS, allowing even iPhone users to take advantage of the many choices Android Wear offers.
Android Wear for iOS works with the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, and 6 Plus. All you need to do is make sure you’re running iOS 8.2 or higher, and then it’s a simple as pairing your iPhone with your Android Wear device via the Android Wear app on the App Store.
Only one Android Wear device currently works with the iPhone–the LG Watch Urbane. However, all future Android Wear devices will support iOS, Google says. In the future, users will be able to find compatible options from Asus, Motorola, and even Huawei.

LG’s Nexus 5 (2015) specs detailed
Two Nexus devices are expected to be released by the end of the year. Both LG and Huawei are apparently in charge of the hardware launching alongside Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It would be LG’s third time manufacturing a Nexus device and this one could arrive as soon as September 29. Today, alleged specifications regarding the LG-made Nexus phone, likely known (again) as the Nexus 5, were detailed.
Here are the specifications offered to Android Police:
- 5.2-inch Full HD (1920×1080) display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 808
- 3GB of RAM
- 12.3MP / 5MP cameras
- 2700mAh battery
- 16GB or 32GB of internal storage
- White, black, or blue color options
The source did not provide Android Police with a release date or pricing; however, these specifications seem to indicate a range of $300-$500. Nexus devices typically launch in November and pricing has always been scattered. The original Nexus 5, for example, launched on Halloween night in 2013 with a $349 staring price while the Nexus 6 debuted in mid-October last year priced at $649 to start.

Android Wear officially gains iOS support
If you own an iPhone but aren’t too keen on the Apple Watch, there will soon be many more wearable options out there for you. Google has just announced that Android Wear devices will soon be compatible with iOS.
The new Android Wear application for iOS will start rolling out today, which will be compatible with the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, and 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 and above. With a compatible Android Wear watch, iOS users will be able to receive notifications, get access to Google Now cards, track fitness goals with Google Fit and more.

For right now, Android Wear for iOS only works with the LG Watch Urbane. Google says that all future Android Wear watches, such as the upcoming Huawei Watch, second-generation Motorola Moto 360 and the ASUS ZenWatch 2 will come with iOS support out of the box. According to The Verge, Google says it isn’t supporting older watches because it wants them all to work right away, without software updates.

Android Wear Now Compatible With iPhone, iOS App Launches Today
Google has announced that Android Wear smartwatches are now compatible with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 or later.
An official Android Wear for iOS app will be released on the App Store today. Android Wear for iOS is compatible with the new LG Watch Urbane starting today, while future smartwatches from Asus, Motorola, Huawei and others will also support iOS.

Android Wear now officially compatible with select iPhones
It’s a big day in the world of Android Wear as the wearable platform has become compatible with select iOS smartphones. Starting from today, anyone with an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus running iOS 8.2+ can integrate with a smartwatch powered by Android Wear.
Indeed, the LG Watch Urbane, and all of the smartwatches on the horizon, will play nicely with iPhones. And, with this week expected to be a big one for Android Wear, it could be a fun one to watch for an iPhone user.

Latest Google Play Services update indicates Android Pay is coming soon
The update for Google Play Services to push it to version 8.1 has begun rolling out now. The intrepid AndroidPolice have done their teardown and we’re learning that Android Pay, Google Wallet’s replacement is just around the corner. Android Pay aims to relaunch Google’s take on NFC payments after the stagnation of Google Wallet for years. There had recently been some internal Google memos and promotional material that leaked pointing to an August 26th launch but it looks like now additional updates were needed to push functionality for Android Pay.
With the new Google Play Services update Android Pay is now baked into the system but you won’t be able to use it yet. Google will still have to make some changes server side before anyone can start using their wireless payments. With the number of promotional stickers showing up at places like Subway and McDonalds, you’d have to imagine that it’s right around the corner.
It seems there has also been some progress on the long rumored Kids Accounts as well. According to AP, the feature has been featured in 5 tear downs in the last 9 months. Google hasn’t officially given word about the kid friendly feature but there is definitely evidence of its existence. As the father of a three year old who likes to press buttons, I can’t wait for this feature. There have been Android OEMs that have baked in their own versions of kid friendly spaces in their skins but native support would make a lot of sense for Android. Apple currently dominates the tablet space for children but this could be a growth area for Android and Google and this feature would be a great selling point.
Finally we see a new naming structure for naming scheme for variants of Google Play Services. There are many different versions of Google Play Services out in the world set to satisfy specific different qualifications. What will work on one phone may not work on another so they get different versions of Google Play Services. Normally you’ll see your version end in something like -238. That indicates which version of Android you are on, your CPU type and screen density, in that order. In 8.1, versions beginning with a ‘4’ are now for Android 6.0. Previously you’d be looking for 4 or 7 to determine if the device was running Lollipop but now a ‘2’ as the first number will indicate Lollipop. If you tend to flash Google Play Services from sources like APK Mirror, this will be a big change for you.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Smart Protect will help keep your next phone malware-free
If you own a smartphone or computer, device security should always be on your mind. With thousands of unknown (“zero-day”) malware apps being generated each day, some of the traditional signature-based antivirus solutions aren’t always able to detect them all. So to better help protect users from mobile malware, Qualcomm today announced a new technology called Snapdragon Smart Protect.
Smart Protect will be present on newer Qualcomm chipsets, such as the upcoming Snapdragon 820, and will be used to help detect different types of mobile malware. Qualcomm has created new APIs that can be used by OEMs and antivirus app vendors to help complement their security technology with “real-time machine learning-based behavioral analysis”.
Qualcomm explains:
Snapdragon Smart Protect is engineered to look at the actual behavior of device applications in real time and almost instantly detect and classify any application behavior that is considered suspicious or anomalous. Suspicious applications are classified into severity levels of malware, ranging from more destructive malware applications, to spyware apps, to less threatening though annoying adware apps.
Qualcomm says Snapdragon Smart Protect will be available in consumer devices in the first half of 2016, in conjunction with the Snapdragon 820. Popular mobile security companies such as Avast, AVG and Lookout are working to utilize Smart Protect in their mobile applications, as well.
