Recently, Twitter has been negotiating deals with Shopify. The social network wants to offer  buttons to more businesses around the world regardless of size. Shopify has 100,000 or so companies that currently use its software when creating their online stores, and Twitter believes it will make a great addition.

On the other hand, companies like Facebook and Pinterest have already begun the process of adding buy buttons to their social media sites and Twitter doesn’t want to be left out. The goal is to take advantage of people’s willingness to buy items and incorporate that in their platforms.

This hasn’t completely taken off yet and the companies must convince people to shop through their social media platform in order to make this work. Re/code states that Twitter’s commerce team is currently investigating different ways of adverting these products as well as making it easier to discover new items for sale. It’s predicted that many company’s will rely heavily on this for revenue in the coming years but only time will tell.
