Verizon LG G4 pre-orders begin May 28th, available in-store June 4th
If you’ve been wondering when you can get your hands on an LG G4 on Verizon, wait no longer. Verizon has just announced that you can pre-order the device in Metallic Gray, Genuine Black Leather or the Verizon-exclusive Ceramic White starting Thursday, May 28th. Pre-orders will begin shipping out to customers before the in-store launch date, which falls on Thursday, June 4th.

The device will be available off-contract for $549.99 or with Verizon Edge for $22.91 per month for 24 months. Big Red hasn’t given us the details on two-year contract pricing, but we’d imagine it will land on the carrier for around $199.99.
Additionally, the brand new LG G Pad X8.3 will also be available in-store starting May 28th. The new tablet will be available for $299.99 off-contract or for $12.49 per month for 24 months on Verizon Edge. Purchasing the tablet with a two-year contract will cost $129.99. Specs for the G Pad X8.3 aren’t extremely impressive, though they’ll certainly suffice for many users out there. The tablet has an 8.3-inch Full HD IPS LCD display, a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, an 8MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 16GB of internal storage and microSD expansion up to 128GB. It also has a 4800mAh battery and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
For a limited time, if you purchase an LG G4, you’ll be able to score the G Pad X8.3 for just $49.99 on-contract ($129.99 value). LG’s free battery and memory card promotion is also applied here, so be sure to take advantage of that deal if you’re interested in buying one of these devices.
Verizon taking pre-orders for LG G4 tomorrow, phone to ship before June 4
Starting tomorrow, Verizon customers can place orders for two new devices from LG. Too make them more enticing, the carrier will offer a discount.
Exclusive to Verizon is the Ceramic White option with 3D patters, along with the global Metallic Gray and Genuine Black Leather rear panels. Customers can go into select retail stores belonging to the carrier and experience the G4 for themselves. Verizon plans to have the G4 shipped prior to its in-store release on June 4.
The Verizon Edge program has the G4 available for $22.91 per month for twenty-four months while the full retail price is $549. Verizon is also including a free 32GB microSD card, extra battery, and battery charging cradle.
The other device from LG being brought to Big Red’s lineup is the G Pad X8.3. This new tablet has an 8.3-inch display with Full HD (1920×1080) resolution, an octa-core processor, and dual stereo speakers. And, like the G4, the G Pad X8.3 has Android 5.0 Lollipop running right out of the box. The Edge monthly payments on it are $12.49 and the full retail price is $299.
Verizon has the following promotions when purchasing the G4 with other LG devices:

YotaPhone 3 and YotaPhone 2c in the works, company says
In an interview with online publication Techno Buffalo, Yota’s Managing Director for the Americas Matthew Kelly has confirmed a successor to the YotaPhone 2, the YotaPhone 3, along with another device–the YotaPhone 2c.
This comes not long after the funding of the Indiegogo campaign that will bring the YotaPhone 2 to the US this August. The YotaPhone 2 is already an impressive handset, the YotaPhone 3 should be even better with a better chipset and processor, more RAM, a gorgeous main display, better cameras, and an improved e-Ink display. Who knows, depending on when they plan to launch the device, maybe it’ll even be running Android M out of the box?
While the prospect of a YotaPhone 3 is nothing but impressive, the YotaPhone 2c won’t be a bad performer either. It’s a budget version of its big brother, the YotaPhone 2. It’s said to to get rid of a lot of the “premium” features the YotaPhone 2 has. We’re not sure what features they’ll be nixing, but it’ll certainly be more friendly for those on a budget, unlike the YotaPhone 2.
There is a clause on whether the YotaPhone 2 gets a successor, though. The YotaPhone 3 is lined up as their next successor, but Kelly says the YotaPhone 2 has to sell first. In other words, it hasn’t done very well so far, and they’re probably waiting to see just how well the device does in the US come August.

Chevy’s 2016 cars to support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
14 of Chevrolet’s 2016 models will support both Android Auto and Apple’s CarPlay, the company announced today, including cars, trucks and crossovers. This way, the car will cater to both Android and Apple users, without segmenting half of the market or selling multiple models of each car. The dual-compatibility will be made possible by Chevy’s “Mylink infotainment system.”
Chevy will let users use the data from their carrier plans, or users can take advantage of its OnStar 4G LTE plan. With the second option, you’ll just have to connect to the car’s WiFi hotspot.

Fleksy to bring Imojis to your keyboard
Fleksy has officially teamed up with Imoji to bring image emojis to your Android keyboard. You will find a wide range of images to select from and most of them are popular internet memes, so you won’t have a tough time relating to them.
The keyboard makes use of the SDK made available by Imoji last month, giving access to nearly 3 million imojis, with most of them created by the users. The update is currently seeding to users of the Fleksy keyboard through the Play Store, so you should see it anytime now if you’re using Fleksy as your primary keyboard.
As for the usability, the addition is merely a way to make Fleksy more attractive to its users and doesn’t change anything in terms of functionality. Users can create their own imojis as well, so you can send a personalized image sticker to your contacts if you so please.

T-Mobile Sony Xperia Z1 now getting Android 5.0.2
T-Mobile customers rocking a Sony Xperia Z1 have now begun to receive the update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. This comes not long after Sony brought the update to the Xperia Z2 and Z3.
The update brings with it a whole host of new features, the new Material Design layout being one of them. It also brings with it lock screen notifications, the 64-bit ART compiler designed to open apps faster, Project Volta for battery performance tweaks, a new Recent Apps page, and much more.
Once you download and install the update, your software version should be 14.5.B.0.236. Most manufactures and carriers recommend that your device have at least 50% battery life and hooked up to Wi-Fi before downloading this update.
If you haven’t gotten the update yet, firmware upgrades like these are usually sent out first in small stages to make sure there are no bugs that render the device useless. If successful, the update is sent out to a larger crowd of people, and so on. It could take anywhere from a couple days to two weeks to get the new update. If you want to update your Xperia Z1 manually, you can get the FTF firmware file along with install instructions here.

Any.do, Ginger Keyboard team up for app integration
Everyone’s favorite note-taking app, Any.do, has paired up with Ginger Keyboard to offer Ginger users added capabilities in the form of easy list-making.
When in Ginger Keyboard’s Smart Bar, you can quickly tap on the Any.do logo and make lists without closing the keyboard. Users can also access their Any.do schedules from the Smart Bar.
The added features will surely make both apps more attractive to all users, especially ones who use one of the two, and not both.

Microsoft launches Office Lens app for Android
Microsoft has today launched Office Lens for Android, which enables users to scan written, printed, or electronic documents and then convert them to a Word, PowerPoint, or PDF document.
- Converts images of paper documents, electronic screens and whiteboard notes into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and searchable PDF files for easy storage, editing and reformatting.
- Enables images to be sent via email, making it easy to share whiteboard notes with work colleagues, submit scanned business expense receipts or ensure family and friends have copies of important paper documents.
- Captures business cards and generates contacts, which can be sent to OneNote and added to your phone.
- Recognizes the corners of a document and automatically crops, enhances and cleans up the image.
- Identifies printed text with optical character recognition (OCR) so that you can search by keyword for the image in OneNote or OneDrive.
- Inserts images to OneNote or as DOCX, PPTX or PDF files in OneDrive, providing options to save, export and share the image.

The Awair helps you breathe easier by tracking air quality
If you have allergies, you know that air quality can mean the difference between having a productive day and being a congested, sneezing pile of sadness. The Awair from Bitfinder analyzes the indoor temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, fine dust particles and volatile organic compounds in the air and uses that information to provide individual recommendations via a companion app and trigger IoT devices help reduce the chances of spending the day leaking snot.
The Awair started as an Arduino board with multiple sensors attached to help Bitfinder co-founder Ronald Ro track the air quality of his home to help manage his daughter’s eczema. After realizing that the information could help others, the Awair was built using a state-of-the-art calibration chamber with sensors far beyond what his prototype had. Ro says the device can help people manage their allergies, sleep habits and productivity. Users just select one of those options in the app and it begins tracking and analyzing the air and a user’s behavior and builds recommendations around that data.
To help maximize the recommendations, the Awair connects to a backend that can be used by other manufacturers to connect to the air sensor to launch IoT devices. For example, if the air is too stuffy, a Nest can be triggered to turn on the fan in a house. The company has an open API for developers to plug into that backend and a WeMo-like plugin module called the AWAIR Connect is in the works. Plus, it’s working on developing a channel on online-scripting service, IFTTT. The Awair will be available for pre-order on May 27 for $149 and will ship in the fall.
