Edge-ucate yourself with Samsung’s new videos for the Galaxy S6 Edge

Samsung_Galaxy_S6_Edge_Right_Edge_Slanted_01_TA

Samsung released four videos featuring Snapchat superstar Shonduras in order to showcase the power of the Galaxy S6 Edge. Why? Because the device with curved displays will let people “draw razor-sharp lines.” That’s perfect for Snapchat users that want to make their snaps into masterpieces like Shonduras. So the four videos are part of an Edge-ucational series that lasts nearly eight minutes.

Hit the break for the videos.

samsung_galaxy_s6_edge_gold_scratched_display_xda

There are multiple reports from owners of the Galaxy S6 Edge that the Clear View case offered by Samsung scratches the handset’s display. Those with scratches present are experiencing the issue in varying ways. While some have minor blemishes on their Galaxy S6 Edge display, others have nicks and scratches scattered throughout.

Assistance from Samsung’s customer support department has been hit-or-miss.

Samsung may release another Edge smartphone before the Galaxy Note 5

All bets are on Samsung releasing a new Galaxy Note device at IFA 2015 in September, and based on the success that the Galaxy S6 Edge is having, we’re pretty sure that we’ll be seeing another Note Edge device as well – we’re assuming its going to be called the Galaxy Note 5 Edge. While we weren’t expecting Samsung to delve into Edge devices again until September, a rumour has dropped today which suggests that Samsung could be releasing another Edge smartphone before then.

If I had to guess, an Edge addition to the Galaxy A line would make the most sense seeing as they are still quite premium devices and the process to make the curved glass is quite time consuming and expensive – Samsung had to open one of its new factories early just to keep up with demand for the Galaxy S6 Edge. On the other hand, September is only 4 months away which is a challenging timeline at best, but only time will tell whether Samsung jumps on this opportunity to pump out more Edge smartphones.

Would you like to see another Edge smartphone in the next few months? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Hardware manufacturers take notice of MediaTek’s deca-core processor

mediatek_logo_orange

The upcoming Helio X20 processor, developed by MediaTek, has reportedly received attention from plenty of the largest Android device manufacturers. Companies that have expressed interest in the deca-core processor include Sony, LG, HTC, ZTE, Lenovo, Meizu, Huawei, and Xiaomi. The only major companies missing from that list are Samsung and Motorola, but they have their reasons. Samsung utilizes in-house Exynos processors while Motorola has a close relationship with Qualcomm to take from their Snapdragon line.

The heightened interest in the Helio X20 processor could allow MediaTek to become the go-to for such components. MediaTek has released processors of all levels at competitive prices for hardware manufacturers. The Helio X20 is being aimed at high-end devices and carries a price of about $241.

This app reminds you to drunkenly buy stuff at 2 am

Alcohol price warning over violence

The best kind of Amazon deliveries are often the ones you were too drunk to remember ordering. And with the help of the Drunk Shopping app, you’ll never miss another opportunity to do so…just as long as that opportunity occurs at 2am on a Saturday night. Developed by the same guy that brought us Troll The NSA and Unbaby.me, Drunk Shopping isn’t an app in the traditional sense; it’s really more of a service.

Users simply text “heyyyyyy” to 551-333-7865 to sign up for the service. Please note that’s six Y’s, the requisite number to indicate you’re about to make multiple bad decisions in rapid succession. Once you do sign up, Drunk Shopping will text you every Saturday night at 2 am (technically, that’s Sunday morning) with another ludicrous item to purchase. it will even help motivate you to pull out your credit card with some gentle text-based encouragement. However, you’re on your own when it comes time to return the products.

Virgin Mobile Data Done Right plans drop in price and up the data exclusively at Wal-Mart May 16th

Users of the pre-paid services from Virgin Mobile are in for a nice little treat. Starting May 16th you will see a shift in data plans for both single line accounts and multi-line accounts. On the single line plans users will find that their usual offering is going down by $5 a month. Not a bad deal, but it gets a little backwards. Not only will you save $5 a month, but they are also going to give you 500mb’s of more data too. We are used to seeing price drops with features dropping too.

Virgin Mobile data done right

“In addition to adding even more data to our value-packed plans, we’ve made it easier to add a third or fourth line,” said Angela Rittgers, vice president marketing-Virgin Mobile USA. “For just an additional $25 a month, customers can add a line to their Multi-line plan and get unlimited talk, text and an additional 4GB to share, helping ensure there is enough data to go around for everyone.”

Looking over the multi-line plans nothing will be changing on the price front. However, each plan is gaining 2GB’s of additional data for the same monthly charge. I don’t see that as being a bad thing for shared accounts.

In case that blurb isn’t enough to make you want to play, check out this video and make your own mind up:

Your ship is gone.

and jump into the sun.

Sunburn! includes 50+ levels designed to confuse and challenge you as you hurtle towards the sun wondering “why?”. The price of admission for Sunburn! will be $2.99 USD from the Google Play Store, and based on some of the reviews the iOS version has gotten, I’d say this game is worth your time. Judge rules Pandora has to increase royalty payouts to BMI

Taylor Swift The 1989 World Tour Live In Tokyo - Night 1

Pandora’s propensity for litigation is pretty storied by this point, but it seems like the internet-radio outfit’s luck has run out. A New York judge has ruled that Pandora must raise its payout rates to Taylor Swift’s music publishing house BMI, from 1.75 percent of its revenue to 2.5 percent, according to The New York Times. The full ruling is still being kept under wraps at the moment, but naturally, Pandora says it’s going to appeal the decision. Given that an appeals judge recently ruled in the outfit’s favor to keep royalty payout rates from rising, it isn’t clear what could happen in this instance. For artists’ sakes, let’s hope that history doesn’t repeat itself here.

Virgin Mobile USA is giving its Data Done Right customers more data for less money

virgin mobile usalogo

If you’re a subscriber to one of Virgin Mobile USA’s Data Done Right plans, you’ll soon be able to use more data for less money per month. Starting Saturday, May 16th, the carrier is increasing the amount of 3G/4G data in its Data Done Right single line plans by 500MB, and dropping each tier by $5 per month. Now customers will have access to unlimited text, 300 minutes of talk and 3GB of 3G/4G data per month for $30. If you’d like unlimited talk, text and the same amount of data, that will run you $40 per month.

Folks on the Data Done Right multi-line plans will get an additional 2GB of 3G/4G data per month, though these customers unfortunately don’t get a price decrease. Check out the table below for the updated multi-line tiers:
