ASUS ZenPad tablets leaked, packing Intel processors

ASUS looks to be preparing to launch some new Android tablets this year, as details have appeared online through both the FCC and leaks from Russian stores. The new tablets will be known as the ZenPad series, and, in typical ASUS fashion, come in a variety of sizes and varients.
The ZenPad 8 is the larger, 8-inch model and features a pixel resolution of 2048×1536. As with its smartphones, ASUS has again chosen Intel as its SoC partner for the new tablets, most likely as the company continues to give away its processors for very little cost. Again, there are multiple models with slightly different internal components. In these 8-inch tablets, there’s a choice to be had between an Intel Atom Z3560 or Z3450 processor and either 8, 16, 32 or 64GB of internal memory, back up by 2GB of RAM.
ASUS also looks to have a couple of 7-inch tablets in the works, sporting a lower pixel resolution of 1024×600. The other specifications are a bit cut down too, as the ZenPad 7 will feature a quad-core Intel Atom x3 processor, 1GB of RAM and either 8 or 16GB of internal memory, which can be supplemented via a microSD card slot. These look like quite typical low/mid-range machines.
As you would expect, WiFi and Bluetooth come as standard, and there are also rear and front cameras too, at 2 megapixels and VGA resolution respectively. There’s a choice to be had between WiFi only or 3G models as well, and the entire range comes equipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop. As you can see, there’s plenty of choice.
The ZenPad 7 should be available in July at a very reasonable cost of €139 or €159. We’re still waiting on a price for the larger tablets. Much like its anticipated ASUS ZenWatch 2, these new tablets could also be unveiled at Computex Taipei, which will run from June 2 to June 5.
Deal: Moto 360 for just $130, today only!

Last month Google slashed down the price of a brand new Moto 360 to just $165, though the offer only lasted for a very limited time and the official pricing has since returned to $250. Missed out on that deal? For those interested in the 360 but not willing or able to pay top dollar, Woot is currently offering up Motorola’s smartwatch for just $129.99, plus $5 dollar shipping!
As you might have guessed, this impressively low price tag comes with a small catch: this is a factory refurbished model. The good news is that it still comes with a one year warranty through Motorola.

Woot gives you the choice of black or stone gray leather straps, and, of course, comes with the wireless charging dock and wall charger. The deal is only good for today, however, so you’ll want to act quickly if you are at all interested in picking one up.
Is the Moto 360 still worth buying, with more recent circular options available like the LG G Watch R, LG Urbane, and the upcoming Huawei Watch? The short answer is yes, especially at this cutthroat price. For those that are turned off by the flat-tire look of the Moto 360 and its less than excellent battery life, you might be better off going with another option or waiting for the arrival of the next-gen Moto 360.
(Update: now in Play Store) WhatsApp gets a nice Material Design makeover, get the APK now

Update, May 14: The Material Design update has now hit the Play Store version of Whatsapp for Android, meaning it will soon rollout to the hundreds of millions of people that use Whatsapp every day. This is the same version that was made available through Whatsapp’s website last month.
Original post, April 14:
Following the general rollout of the voice calling feature, WhatsApp is pushing out the second big update in the past three weeks, and this time it’s all about appearance. Yes, WhatsApp is finally going Material.
The updated version is currently only available from WhatsApp’s site, but the Play Store should get in line pretty soon. If you don’t want to wait, updating is as easy as visiting the WhatsApp download site from your phone, downloading the latest APK file, and installing the app (sideloading needs to be enabled from Settings.)
So, what’s new here? While the general layout of the user interface remains the same, the new Whatsapp features many Material elements, without going overboard. The new color scheme uses a dark green from the Material palette, and the iconography and typography are now adhering to Google’s guidelines.

There are many small animations, with slides and fades spicing up what would otherwise be a rather boring experience. The main bar, which houses the search, action, and overflow buttons now slides away when scrolling down through the list of contacts or recent calls, but the menu bar sticks on. Details like the way notification numbers clear away when you tap them or the way the microphone icon goes to the thrash can when you dismiss a voice mail further add to a fun experience.
Overall, this isn’t a major departure from the experience you had before, but the simple implementation of Material does make Whatsapp look more modern and fresh.
Again, you can either wait for the update to hit the Play Store or get your up to date APK file straight from Whatsapp. Let us know your thoughts on the redesign!

Microsoft’s super-stable video recording arrives on PCs and phones
Microsoft’s Hyperlapse is now more than just a clever idea in a research lab — the folks in Redmond have released apps that help you record and produce super-stabilized videos on Android (in preview form), Windows and Windows Phone. Much like Instagram’s software, the algorithmic tools whittle down your shaky footage into high-speed, smooth clips that your friends are more likely to watch. The big differences are in the amount of control you get. You can zip beyond Instagram’s 6x speed limit, for example, and the desktop app (Hyperlapse Pro) uses 3D modelling to steady the footage from GoPros and other common action cameras.
All these apps are available today, although it’s important to note that the Android edition only works on some phones at the moment. As for an iOS version? Microsoft tells us that it didn’t write a client for that platform because there was already a competitor (no surprises as to who) in the App Store. It’s “evaluating” an iOS release in the future, but you’ll currently have to rely on that other Hyperlapse app if you want to produce shake-free iPhone videos.

NASA probe snaps Pluto’s smallest moons for the first time
Getting kicked out of the major planet club always seemed a bit unfair to Pluto, considering that it has four more moons than Earth. On the other hand, two of those, Styx and Kerberos, are so small that we only found out about them a few years ago. NASA’s New Horizons probe has just taken its first snapshots of those new satellites, something of a miracle considering it was 55 million miles away and Styx is only 4 to 13 miles across. It required 10 second exposures from the probe’s sensitive Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) and copious image processing to reduce background glare, resulting in the animation above.

The photo is a sign of things to come, as New Horizons will carry on toward Pluto until it it passes within about 10,000 km (6,200 miles) of the dwarf planet around July 14th this year. At that point, it’ll map out Pluto’s surface and study its largest moon, Charon, which is actually about half the diameter of Pluto. It’ll also search for evidence of cryo-geysers that scientists think could be active on Charon. The probe will produce the highest resolution images yet of Pluto (Hubble has taken the best photos so far, above) — giving the snubbed planet a chance to finally get to strut its stuff.

Deal: Motorola Moto 360 leather-bound smartwatch on sale for $129.99
If you’re looking to pick up a leather-bound Moto 360 smartwatch, Woot has an excellent deal on the device.
For $129.99, you can get a stylish Moto 360 on your wrist. Keep in mind that the smartwatches they are selling are reconditioned. However, they do still come with the 1-year factory warranty, so if anything were to malfunction on the hardware side, Motorola would probably be willing to swap it out for you.
Reconditioned, that can be a real concern. However, it’s an excellent discount for this piece of hardware, and Motorola has an excellent warranty. Also, do keep in mind that this is the leather Moto 360 smartwatch–the metal-bound models are much pricier. Amazon lists their leather-bound Moto 360’s at $169.99, while getting them through Motorola’s MotoMaker is a flat $249, whether it be leather or metal.
Be sure to hit the source link below to pick up a discounted Moto 360. Not quite sure on getting the smartwatch? Be sure to check out our review.

[Deal] Amazon has 38 paid apps and games for FREE ($110 value) through May 16
Amazon is at it again with another Android app and game sale. Amazon always has at least one free app of the day, but today they are bundling 38 apps and games. All of these titles are absolutely Free and will stay that way through May 16.
Some of the more notables are Photo Studio Pro (normally $3.99), Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 (normally $2.99), Game Of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series (normally $4.99), and Fleksy Keyboard (normally $1.99).
Remember, downloading from the Amazon App Store means you’re tied to Amazon for future updates. This means that you have to keep the Amazon App Store app on your device. Titles that you download and install for Free are transferable to any other phone or tablet as long as you download and install the Amazon App Store on each device and log into your Amazon account. I still recommend using the Google Play Store for all your app and gaming needs since updates will be quicker and the overall process is so much easier. On the other hand, there is a considerable amount of savings here, so I don’t blame you if you want to go this route. Plus, if you have a Fire tablet or phone, you don’t have to worry about a thing since it’s the only means of downloading apps.
You can hit up the link below to see the full list of apps and games.

‘Snake Rewind’ now available on Google Play Store
Hopefully you’re ready to put a lot of ours in a new Android game, as Snake Rewind is now available to download on the Google Play Store for free.
You may be familiar with the original Snake, a staple on Nokia devices, created by Taneli Armanto. In collaboration with Rumilus Design, they’ve brought Snake Rewind to the Google Play Store.
They’ve made the game much more current, allowing you to rewind your snake after you die, and even going as far as to add boosters and leaderboards. As you might expect, graphics have been overhauled, too. With all of the new additions and new graphics, Snake Rewind is a gorgeous game that you’ll be playing for hours, trying to compete for the top of the leaderboard.
If you’re not sure about Snake Rewind, be sure to check out the trailer and gallery below. It’s a beautiful game, but profoundly addicting.
