Chrome Beta now asks you before downloading a duplicate file
The Chrome Beta app for Android is now getting an update from Google, which brings an interesting feature to the fore. The update cleverly asks users before downloading a file which the user might have previously downloaded.
The browser essentially looks at the root directory to find if there’s a file with the same name, and if there is, you will be notified before the file is downloaded. This is a very handy feature and will avoid clutter on your Downloads folder. In its current form, Chrome Beta adds a suffix (1), (2) and so on for a duplicate file.
This update will make the lives of Android users a lot easier and keep your device clean from duplicate files. Google will also let you download a duplicate file and you will be given a choice to either replace it or create a new file.
It might take some time for the feature to make its way to the Chrome app that millions use, but if you have Chrome Beta installed on your device, be on the lookout for an update.
