What’s on your HDTV: ‘Transcendence,’ ‘Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark’ and ‘Soundclash’
Yup, it’s summer. In case the weather wasn’t a tipoff, you can tell from Syfy’s slew of made for TV movies hitting the screen, including this week’s shocker Mega Shark vs. Mecha Shark. The headlining monsters were already made for previous movies, so maybe this time the filmmakers used their budget on good actors, a decent script or better special effe…on second thought probably not, but if you’re curious you can watch the whole thing right now on Netflix. While we’re still checking out other shows in the genre like Extant and The Strain, there are other options. ESPN has a documentary on cycling great Greg LeMond airing Tuesday night, while CBS Sports is bringing highlights from a huge sports tournament you’ve probably never heard of: The Commonwealth Games. The Roots drummer/bandleader Questlove is producing a new show on VH1 called Soundclash that mixes up different bands on one stage — we’ll give it one shot as the first episode on Wednesday features Fall Out Boy, T.I. and London Grammar. Check after the break for a list of what’s new this week plus a few trailers, and drop a note in the comments if you see any highlights we’ve missed.

LG G3 Prime could debut later this week

We have heard about HTC and Samsung working on the ‘Prime’ version of their flagship smartphones, but it seems LG is planning to join the bandwagon as well. According to a Korean website, LG is planning to release the LG G3 Prime (or Cat.6) on July 25, and it will have faster download speeds and a better processor under the hood.
Everything else will be just like the original LG G3 – like 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, 3 GB of RAM, a 13 MP main camera and a 3,000 mAh battery, except it will feature a more powerful Snapdragon 805 processor and an LTE-A modem, with download speeds of up to 225 Mbps.
The only bad news is that the device will be limited to Korea, which is hometown of LG. We might not be able to see this device in international market.
Do you think LG should make this device available in international market as well?

Redesigned 3DS Circle Pad puts an analog stick under your index finger
Dual-analog controls are pretty standard these days — two analog sticks on either end of a control pad designed to fall directly under the user’s thumbs. Hori’s new 3DS slide pad accessory throws this notion out the window: it installs a second control pad on the same side as the handhelds primary input, putting the slider directly behind the console’s L button. The accessory is built specifically to accommodate Monster Hunter diehards, but it’s not as odd as it sounds: Japanese gamers have made a habit of modifying Nintendo’s analog accessory into obtuse and unexpected configurations. Hori’s layout is designed to allow players to move their character and manipulate the camera with just one hand, freeing up their right thumb for attacks and in-game actions. The accessory (available in both 3DS and 3DS XL variants) is available in Japan only, for now, to the tune of 2,980 yen.

The Big Picture: Not-quite San Francisco’s ‘Davis Street’
Take a second look at the above image — it isn’t actually a photo. Nope, the entire scene (dubbed Davis Street) was painstakingly created with the graphics rendering suite 3DS Max. To achieve the impressive end result, artist Gilvan Isbiro says that he had to separate the street into two rendering “plans” considering how big the street’s surface is. As he tells it, the splitting didn’t stop there. Isbiro notes that due to the sheer amount of textures and materials present in the scene, not to mention lighting and post-processing effects like depth of field, that he had to divide the rendering tasks in two: foreground and background. It is, however, a bit embellished compared to the actual intersection of Davis and California in San Francisco. For starters, The City By the Bay does not have trains like the one up above and there’s no such Sweet Street. Spot any other liberties that Isbiro took? Let us know in the comments.

Samsung Launches New ‘Screen Envy’ Anti-iPhone Ad
Over the past several weeks, Samsung has released three different ads pitting its Galaxy S5 and its Galaxy Tab S against Apple’s iPhone and iPad. Now the company is back today with a new anti-iPhone ad that highlights the Galaxy S5 as having the “screen your friends wish they had.”
The spot depicts an iPhone user sitting next to a Samsung user, with the two discussing the rumored larger screen of the upcoming iPhone 6. “iPhone might be getting a bigger screen,” the iPhone owner tells his S5-toting friend. “That hasn’t happened yet?” the friend replies as the two go on to compare their phones.
You know that thing you’ve been waiting on for like two years and how it’s supposed to be awesome and how it’s going to blow your mind? Well, it’s been here this whole time. But maybe you just like waiting.
Immediate gratification is an advertising tactic Samsung has used before, with its new ad harkening back to its well-known 2011 commercial series that depicted iPhone owners waiting in long lines for new iPhones while enviously eyeing Samsung devices. The ad also includes Samsung’s tagline “The Next Big Thing is Here,” which reportedly infuriated Apple in the past.
The company’s Galaxy S5, introduced in back in February, includes a 5.1-inch display, but Samsung devices have had larger-sized screens for several years running. Apple is planning to address growing consumer demand for bigger displays with the iPhone 6, introducing two new models with 4.7 and 5.5-inch screens. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is set to launch in September, while the larger 5.5-inch version may come somewhat later in 2014 or early 2015.![]()
Facebook Debuts New Read-It-Later ‘Save’ Feature for iOS and Desktop [iOS Blog]
Facebook today introduced a new read-it-later “Save” feature that allows users to save items on Facebook to view at a later time in both the desktop version of Facebook and the Facebook app for iOS.. Users can save links, places, movies, TV shows, music, and more.
Items can be saved by tapping the small arrow in the upper right corner of any post, which also has tools for unfollowing content and removing content from the Facebook feed.

You can view the items you saved at any time by going to your saved items in the “More” tab on mobile or by clicking the link on the left hand side of Facebook on the web.
Your saved items list is organized by category and you can swipe right on each item to share it with your friends or move it into your archive list.
According to Facebook, users will receive reminders of saved items within their News Feeds, which makes the content easy to access.

Accessory of the Day: SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 UHS Memory Card [74% OFF]

Need to add some storage space to your Android smartphone or tablet? Of course you do. While most of today’s devices come with 8GB-32GB of internal storage many of them offer room for growth. In other words, plenty of our favorite products offer microSD expansion.
Instead of relying on the cloud to hold everything, take matters into your own hands with a SanDisk Ultra 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 UHS Memory Card. Normally priced around $69.99, we’ve found it on Amazon for $18.19, a savings of around 74 percent. So, rather than deleting files to free up storage, double it up (or more) with one of these cards. Need more than 32GB? Why not grab the 64GB card? It’s only $36.95 today!

Privacy Mode under testing by Netflix, may or may not become a Feature
One might think the a “privacy mode” would be a dirty thing. Maybe Netflix is gearing up for a new adult content section that is password protected and blocked from others seeing what you have been watching. That is not the case. However, Netflix is working on a “privacy mode” that will let you sneak in and secretly watch keeping up with the Kardashians and leave no trace that you spent your Sunday watching Kim instead of Football.
“At Netflix we continuously test new things. In this case, we are testing a feature in which a user watching a movie or TV show can choose to view in “Privacy Mode.” Choosing that option means the program will not appear in your viewing activity log, nor will it be used to determine recommendations about what you should watch in the future.”
The bigger factor that I think is a bit more exciting is that privacy mode viewing won’t turn around and influence your recommendations from Netflix on your account. IT will also block the sharing of said titles to your Facebook friends too.
They say the feature is being tested right now across all of Netflix’s markets and could go on for a few months. Sadly, not every user out there will have access to the feature. I know I didn’t find it anywhere on any device or TV box in my house. Edwards also made sure to mention that the Privacy mode function may or may not ever make it to a general roll-out for everyone. It all depends on how well it performs in the testing phase. I would suggest that you all cruise through your Netflix accounts and see if you have access to it or not. If you do, be sure to use it and make it worth wild. I wouldn’t mind seeing this feature for general consumption, assuming it works.
