Samsung Galaxy Note Edge receives Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update in Australia

Another day, another Samsung handset receives an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update. Today it is the turn of the Galaxy Note Edge (SM-N915G), which has begun receiving its Lollipop OTA update in Australia.
The update weighs in at a hefty 1018.12 MB, but does come with Samsung’s new Material Design inspired user interface, new notification and multitasking systems, Smart Lock, and a host of other improvements to performance and battery life. If you haven’t seen Lollipop running on the Galaxy Note Edge yet, you can check out the leaked details that appeared earlier in the month.
Australians who haven’t received an update notification yet can force a manual check through Settings > About phone > Software update. If you know what you’re doing, SamMobile also has the firmware available for download, which can then be flashed with Odin.
The update should be heading out to other regions in the coming weeks as well.

Need 128GB of flash storage in a mobile device? Samsung is making it happen
Dedicated storage in a mobile device is becoming extremely slim as files are getting bigger and bigger. The sizes of applications, games, photographs, and videos today would never fit on a device released two or more years ago. That explains why consumers clamor for flagship devices to have microSD card slots. Fortunately, Samsung has announced the mass production of its 128GB memory that uses Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 technology.
Here is a quote from Samsung’s Jee-ho Baek, Senior Vice President of Memory Marketing:
“With our mass production of ultra-fast UFS memory of the industry’s highest capacity, we are making a significant contribution to enable a more advanced mobile experience for consumers. In the future, we will increase the proportion of high-capacity memory solutions, in leading the continued growth of the premium memory market.”
Samsung claims that its UFS memory can outperform the speed of reading found in current high-end smartphones by 2.7 times.
Worried about the price of this, especially when the amount of storage is 128GB? Don’t worry, Samsung also has 32GB and 64GB variants.
There is a possibility that we see this form of storage debut on Sunday when the Galaxy S 6 is announced for the world to see at MWC 2015.

Did the new Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 just pass through the FCC?
Earlier today, an unannounced Sony-branded tablet passed through the United States of America’s official certification authority — the FCC. Information included in the brief filing documentation reveals that we could be looking at the new Galaxy Tab 4 Lite 7.0 LTE.
Unfortunately, the paperwork doesn’t reveal anything about the internals of the device, but we do know that the slate is set to pack a variety of different connectivity options, including support for 4G carrier bands (2 and 5), GSM, WCDMA, Bluetooth Class 1 (Version 4.0, LE+EDR), 802.11b/802.11g/802.11n Wi-Fi, NFC and GPS.

Leaked apps for TouchWiz provide a glimpse of Samsung’s changes
Someone over on the XDA Forums has posted what are allegedly Samsung applications that will be featured on the upcoming Galaxy S 6. The apps included by user Albe95 are Optical Reader, Geo News, Gear Manager, and Kids Mode. The layout and amount of text seems simplified while a wide amount of colors are still being used. Basically, TouchWiz looks like less of a circus while maintaining its flavor.
The Samsung Galaxy S 6 will be announced on Sunday, March 1, at MWC 2015.

We all know that in two days Samsung will be giving us our first official look at the next Galaxy, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. Earlier in the week AT&T and T-Mobile tossed out a profile image of the Galaxy S6 Edge with an ominous glow of the carriers colors. Sprint […]

Samsung might limit Unpacked to just the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 Edge
When you think of this Sunday’s Samsung Unpacked Event, the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 Edge come to mind, but they do have other rumored devices. We know they have other tablets in the pipeline, namely the Tab S 2, but there is also that round smartwatch (Orbis) that seems close to release. In fact, it was already reported that the Orbis would be unveiled at the same time as the new phones.
Now a new report from Korea Economic Daily says that Samsung will concentrate their efforts on the new phones and not show anything else. That’s exactly how they did it with the Galaxy S 4. This is a crucial year for Samsung and a smartwatch isn’t going to affect their numbers like the S6 will, so it’s not a surprise that Samsung wants to put all their efforts into the S6.
Are you disappointed with this news? Did you really want to see a Tizen-based smartwatch from Samsung? I didn’t think so.

Here’s our best look yet at the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 Edge thanks to Sprint
We already have a pretty good idea of what the Galaxy S 6 and Galaxy S 6 Edge will look like, but we have probably the best image yet thanks to an employee at Sprint. This image is for a pre-registration page and contest that probably wasn’t supposed to launch until after this Sunday’s Unpacked event.
Unfortunately the leak didn’t provide any other details, but at least you have an even better idea of how both phones will look. I actually can’t wait until this Sunday since we can finally put an end to all these leaks. It’s starting to get just a tad boring, don’t you think?
