HTC Releases a Detailed Infographic for ‘The Anatomy of the Android OS Update’

htc-infographic-androidupdates

Happens time and time again. New version of Android gets released to the community, and everyone starts asking when they will get it on their devices. If you are part of the Moto or Nexus family, you don’t have to wait long at all. If you are on any other OEM, well that is when your patience is put to the test. OEMs will do their very best to let their users know when they will get their juicy little updates. Sometimes they are right. Most times they are wrong. There is a whole science to updating your Android device, and HTC has released that formula in a pretty awesome looking infographic.

The infographic below is pretty long. Lot of people out there that are not familiar with how the development process works, just gets upset at the OEMs, even though those OEMs are trying their best to make sure they release a stable build for their devices. Hopefully this little infographic will shut some of the complainers up, but that would only be in a perfect world. When I get asked about updates for certain devices, and simply tell them to be patient, or to root their device.

So check out the entire HTC infographic by clicking the link below. You’ll head to the HTC.com page for the whole thing. Let us know what you think about it.

Possible 3D Model of the HTC One 2/M8 Photographed

htcone2-m8-3dmodel

The HTC One 2, or M8, has possibly been caught on camera. It looks like HTC has decided to jump into the soap bar business, how about that? HTC One soap? Sign me up for that.Wouldn’t surprise me if they decided to do that, but of course this is just a 3D 1:1 scale model of the supposed HTC One 2 made purely out of wax.

This comes from a Chinese blog named weibo.com, but the images have been taken down by the person who posted them. I am sure he got some heat from it, even though the model looks almost identical to the regular HTC One. Other than this image you see above, we have no further information about the new flagship phone at this time.

The little bit of information we do have about the HTC One sequel, is that it might be unveiled as early as February of next year. Rumored specs have also been floating around as well, but we got to be patient and wait for the actual confirmed specs. Don’t you hate that word, patient?  Let us know if you are excited for the HTC one follow-up, and also chime in on the HTC One Soap bar you see above.

Black HTC One max revealed, only available in Hong Kong

A black variant of the HTC One max has been announced on the official HTC Hong Kong website. It was only a matter of time until this one was released, especially because the One and One Mini have been available in many different colors.

Availability of the new device, so far, is only in Hong Kong. There is no official word yet that it will be announced in other countries, but we’re willing to bet that it will be soon. HTC is pretty good about having phones available around the world, so I don’t see a reason to make it a Hong Kong exclusive.

Personally, I think the black model is really sleek, and I wouldn’t put it past anyone who chooses this over the standard silver model, or even the red one. Do you have a color preference when choosing your next phone? Do you hope this one comes to the states? Tell us about it in the comments!

UK court relaxes ban on HTC One Mini despite Nokia patent win

Nokia’s recent legal victory over HTC, which imposed a sales ban on the latter’s One Mini in the UK, has ended up being quite short-lived. We’ve just learned from HTC that the Court of Appeals has suspended the injunction against the stunted smartphone, which also allows the firm to resume imports of the rest of the One family. The case is far from being closed, however, as HTC intends to “aggressively appeal the [patent] validity decision” that led to the One Mini ban, and could yet impact its bigger brethren. Furthermore, to avoid future courtroom dates, HTC says it’ll be engaging with its “chip suppliers on alternative solutions.” It’s almost certainly not the last we’ll hear from this ongoing skirmish, but however many haymakers Nokia throws, HTC just keeps bouncing back. Full statement from HTC after the break.

HTC is delighted that the Court of Appeals has granted a stay on the injunction against our products. We will immediately resume shipment of all of our devices into the UK, including the entire HTC One family. Similarly, our customers should feel confident in their ability to promote and sell all HTC devices. Even though we plan to aggressively appeal the validity decision of Nokia’s EP 0 998 024 patent, we will continue to work with our chip suppliers on alternative solutions to ensure minimal disruption to our business in the future.
