More HTC M8 Photos Surface Showing Off the Thin Bezels
The HTC M8 images keep coming. Today we get this gem that actually a lot of people might enjoy. When we posted the image that showed up online yesterday, everyone hated the fact that there was that black bar at the bottom of the screen that housed the HTC logo. Well as you can see here, there is no black bar with the HTC logo. We also see that the phone is sporting some barely there bezels, which a lot of people were hoping for as well. Let us know your thoughts about this new image.

Alleged HTC Desire 8 Render Circulates the Web
The HTC Desire 8 first made its presence known in the community not too long ago, and with HTC stating they were going to put forth some efforts in mid-ranged devices, the HTC Desire 8 sounded like it would be their first mid-ranged phone of this year. Well a new render of the supposed HTC Desire 8 has surfaced, but there are some flaws within it.
First off: no navigation buttons. Yeah those are missing from this render, even though they will most likely be on-screen buttons. Then we have the screenshot on the phone. You would assume that given this is a new phone, it would be running Sense 6. We got our first taste of Sense 6 showing off BlinkFeed when evleaks posted a screenshot. This screenshot is an older screenshot, so highly unlikely this is legit.
Specs came along with screenshot that include a 5.5-inch display, 13 MP rear camera, and a 5 MP front-facing camera. No word on processor, but those other specs sound more high-end than mid-range. The HTC Desire 8 might be one of those phones that doesn’t make it over here the states. This phone could very well stay over in Asia, but maybe HTC has a US variant in mind. Let us know your thoughts about this render.

HTC’s leaked ‘Desire 8’ mid-ranger looks big and beautiful
Despite HTC’s recent blast of Desire phones, the company admitted that it still needs to push harder in the lower price tiers. Lo and behold, here’s a leak of an upcoming “New Desire 8″ series mid-range device, courtesy of Chinese site MyDrivers and with confirmation from our own sources. This dual-SIM phone will reportedly pack a 5.5-inch display of unknown resolution, which will make it the largest non-flagship HTC phone since the Desire 700. There will also be a 13-megapixel main camera (not UltraPixel), along with a 5-megapixel front imager with beautification mode. We’re assuming that this is a plastic body — available in white, red, yellow, orange and cyan — with stereo front-facing speakers, which is now a signature feature on many HTC phones. But where are the Android buttons? Chances are this Desire model is joining the M8 flagship to embrace on-screen keys, despite their absence in this render.
The screenshot mentions “March 18th” plus Beijing, so unless Peter Chou is messing with us here, we’ll be making ourselves available that day for the launch event in China. Having said that, we might also get to see it at MWC in two weeks’ time, so stay tuned.
Update: A reliable tipster sent in the original image, so we’ve updated this article with it.

HTC’s next flagship phone spotted with on-screen buttons, familiar design cues
We hope you’re ready for a rather interesting month for smartphones. Judging from the teasers, announcements and leaks, nearly all the major mobile players have something big to show in Barcelona next week. What you’re looking at above is HTC’s own next big thing, a new flagship smartphone that’s doing the rumor rounds under the codename of M8. Looks familiar, right? However, there’s already some notable changes, including an increase to three Android buttons, which are all now part of the screen. Having said that, according to mob.hr’s leak, a bar with HTC branding means the screen will still takes up the same proportion of the phone’s surface. Thankfully, the M8 appears to be made of metal just like last year’s One, with the same micro-drilled holes for the speakers. According to this leak, expect a flip-top cover to go along with it too — presumably with peep-holes for both of those rear-facing cameras.

New HTC M8 Image Surfaces Showing its Face Again
The HTC M8 seems to be showing up on camera every other day, and today we get the very image you see above. This comes from @HTCFamily_RU again, that leaked that first image of the HTC M8 showing that it had a dual-camera sensor. They just tweeted this image out today and it seems legit to me. We got all the signs that it is a polished Sense UI with those lovely on-screen buttons on the bottom of the screen. The location of the front-facing camera is slightly different from the HTC One, but other than that, the phone looks pretty much the the same. Give us your thoughts about this new image.

HTC to Focus Efforts on Developing Mid-Ranged Phones
HTC has certainly seen its ups and downs…mainly downs. In 2013, they made a bold statement that said they were going to focus on their high-end HTC One line instead of making mid-ranged phones that were more budget friendly. They then threw Robert Downey Jr. in the campaign (paying him $12 million) and it ended up not being a good choice in marketing at all. Now HTC is singing a different tune.
We took our eyes somewhat off the ball
That was said by HTC CFO Chang Chialin while talking to Bloomberg, mentioning how the decisions they made last year lead to an overall decline in revenue for the Taiwanese company. So HTC is going to start focusing on mid-ranged devices as well as keeping their HTC One line going. Hopefully it work out for them this year, because they dangling on a very thin thread. Let us know your thoughts about this.
HTC to offer wider range of products in 2014
In addition to the flagship, look for mid-range and entry-level models from HTC
A new report out of Reauters today tells us that HTC will employ a different strategy for 2014, namely more phones.
The problem with us last year was we only concentrated on our flagship. We missed a huge chunk of the mid-tier market.
Whereas last year saw HTC focusing almost solely on the flagship line HTC One, this year should bring them back into the mainstream. HTC co-founder/chairwoman Cher Wang is optimistic about the future, particularly around the HTC One.
It’s worth pointing out that HTC is reversing a course it already reversed in the last two years. Remember all the various HTC models in 2010-2011? Remember all those versions of the Sensation? HTC said that was too much for them and they stripped down to one key model in 2013. Perhaps there’s a happy medium in there somewhere.

HTC admits it took its ‘eyes off the ball’ in neglecting low-end phones
Did you know that HTC still made cheaper phones like the Desire 601? Possibly not, considering the attention lavished upon the company’s One series of flagships. HTC is now expecting its next quarter to be the worst so far, with the company’s top executives admitting that the outfit “took [its] eyes off the ball” in terms of the range of devices that it sold, and that concentrating on the HTC One caused it to miss out on a “huge chunk of the mid-tier market.” The company has also conceded that the $1 billion spent to get Robert Downey Jr. onto billboards hasn’t boosted sales of HTC phones. Instead, CEO Peter Chou has promised that the company will build a new, compelling portfolio of affordable devices in the hope of clawing back some of that lost ground — and lost profit.

[LEAK] HTC M8 dual camera leaks in candid photo
I’d like to see this photo get debunked: the media world has been in a bit of a frenzy with all the leaks regarding HTC’s next flagship, the HTC M8, flying left right and centre. One leak in particular appeared to show the unannounced HTC device bearing a dual-sensor camera array with dual flash LEDs, but this was quickly shot down on Twitter by HTC’s own Mark Moons, HTC Director in Benelux (see the “photoshopped” image here). Well, today, there has been another leak, and this one is a little harder to dispell. Courtesy of NoWhereElse, the above photo appears to show the HTC M8 dual camera in all its glory, and sure enough, the flash LEDs in this photo appear to differ from those seen in the “photoshopped” image.
While we should still be taking this leak with a grain of salt, the photo does look pretty genuine given the quality of the photo and the fact that the cameras look quite detailed. We have been hearing for some time now that the HTC M8 is expecting a dual-sensor camera which is meant to give budding photographers greater control of focusing their images, even after taking the photo (for more on the technology involved, see our article explaining it here).
This is probably our most conclusive evidence that the HTC M8 dual camera exists, but what do you think about this leak: do you think it is real? And can you see the benefits of utilizing this dual-camera system? Let us know what you think in the comments.
