Weathered old HTC HD2 dresses up like a Nokia X
You may remember the HTC HD2 from posts such as “will it play Tekken 3?” and “wait, it runs Windows RT now?” Despite the handset’s age, a stalwart community keeps it relevant by getting anything and everything to run on the developer favorite. It’s only fitting, then, that the HD2 be one of the first to don Nokia’s heavily skinned version of Android, other than the unreleased X family, of course. That’s right: An XDA Developers forum member by the name of gilbert32 has apparently succeeded in porting some form of the Nokia X Android build onto a rather beat-up-looking HD2. We say succeeded, but while it looks the part and plays a booting sound when fired up, “everything else” is admittedly non-functional. Then again, if the goal was to show the HD2 still has legs after all this time, then mission accomplished, sir.

Leaked HTC One M8 video draws HTC attention
Almost every HTC fan is looking forward to March 25th, when the company will officially unleash the successor to their famous HTC One. Known, for now, as the HTC One M8 we’ve learned much about the device over the last few months.
Plenty of people are excited, some a little more than others. Take for instance this guy Roshan Jamkatal whose parents apparently work at HTC. This weekend he uploaded a 12-minute video of an early release M8 in action. We’d be lying if we said people didn’t notice. In fact, HTC, quickly caught wind of the video swept into action.
A few since-deleted tweets from HTC’s Global Online Communications Manager tell us that the kid could be in hot water. Perhaps, even, to the tune of his parents being fired. Reading through his tweets we find that this could very well have been the case; it’s suggested they both work at HTC.

So, based on what you did see, did you like the new HTC One? We really think this smartphone will give the new Galaxy S5 are hard time, what about you? Share your thoughts with us in the comment box below.

[VIDEO] HTC Technical Translations Round 2 teases the aluminium unibody of the HTC One
HTC is starting to ramp up their own advertising prior to the March 25th event which is expected to announce the All New HTC One, despite some minor distractions, and it appears to have struck a chord with their new HTC Technical Translations teasers. The first ad saw a HTC engineer give a very technical description of BoomSound, followed by the “average guy” giving us a watered down (read: hilarious) version of that explanation. HTC has followed this up with a second Technical Translations teaser in which the engineer and “average guy” discuss the metal unibody of the HTC One; check it out:
Now that they’ve covered BoomSound and the metal unibody, I can only assume explaining UltraPixel is next. It’s nice to see HTC adopting a more light-hearted approach to advertising after the slightly confusing campaign that was “Here’s To Change”, and hopefully as March 25th approaches, more of these teasers will continue to amuse us while we wait for the All New HTC One to arrive.
What do you think about these HTC Technical Translation videos? Are you liking them more than the “Here’s To Change” ads? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The All New HTC One leak was real, HTC’s Jeff Gordon ominously warns Leaker
Earlier today, we reported that a 12-minute walkthrough video of the All New HTC One had been leaked out, the source of which was apparently a young man named Roshan Jamkatel. Well, Jamkatel’s life may be about to get a bit more complicated as HTC‘s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, has clearly gotten wind of the video and issued an ominous warning over Twitter, all but confirming the validity of the All New HTC One leak.
After a tweet that could suggest legal action by HTC (“It’s not going to be a good week for you, my friend”), Jamkatel attempted to play his video off as a fake, however to no avail; Gordon told the young man that they would “be in touch”, citing that they had the IMEI number of the device in question, despite Jamkatel’s best efforts to hide it during the video. The Twitter conversation has since been deleted from Jamkatel’s account, as has the original video on YouTube.
This probably won’t be the last leak of the All New HTC One we see before it is announced on March 25th, but it goes to show that corporations will flex their muscle when a leak goes too far; maybe Sony can take a leaf out of HTC’s book.
What do you think about Jeff Gordon’s reaction to the leaked video? Do you think he/HTC is being too heavy handed? Let us know your opinion in the comments.

Another HTC flagship leak reveals microSD slot, brushed metal finish (video)
Storage expansion went out of fashion over the last two years. Fortunate, then, for those of us wanting to take our music / audio book / photo collection everywhere, that HTC’s upgraded One will see a return to microSD storage on its flagship series. Against trend, the new One also looks like it’ll have an identical footprint to last year’s model. In a lengthy video leak from GadgetReviews — now down, but mirrored elsewhere — we get to see that unibody build from a few more angles (including a closer look at that brushed finish) and catch some few software tweaks to the Blinkfeed news stream (another swipe to the left apparently opens up more options). However, what does that secondary camera actually do? We’re getting increasingly impatient about that March 25th reveal date.

HTC stopping its HTC Watch movie sales and rental service
HTC have just announced that as of March 31st 2014, HTC will be ceasing their HTC Watch movie sales and rental store.
The service had been slowly closing across a variety of countries including Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, and Denmark, and now the United States of America, and the UK are set to follow suite.
As a user of the HTC Watch service we would like to notify you that from March 31st 2014 the store will no longer be available.
Up until this date, you willl still be able to purchase movies from the HTC Watch store as normal. Your library will not be accessible after March 31st, 2014.
Please download the movies you have purchased to your devices before the above mentioned date. If you do not find the HT Watch application in your device to download and watch the movies you have purchased, please kindly visit http://www.htc.com/support for more details.
We thank you for being a HTC Watch customer, and apoligise for any inconvenience caused.
Be sure to download your purchases from the HTC Watch App before March 31st 2014 in order to ensure they are not lost, because after this date, unfortunately they’ll fall into cyber space.

HTC shutting down its Watch movie service in the UK
When HTC pulled the plug on its Watch service in a number of European countries last year, it told us that it was merely streamlining its efforts, and that movie rentals and purchases would continue to be offered in places with the “highest engagement.” But now it looks like the closures are spreading to those areas too, with UK users receiving an email warning them that the Watch store will close on March 31st, by which point any purchased movies must be downloaded to a device in order to remain accessible. We’ve asked HTC for a fuller explanation, but in the meantime we’re left with the feeling that the company’s in-house streaming platform may actually have been dying a slow death this whole time, due to a lack of popularity. Either that, or the name “HTC Watch” has suddenly become very inconvenient.

[LEAK] Apparently this is the All New HTC One being used in Public
With the announcment of the All New HTC One only a few weeks away, it’s not surprising that the number of leaks have increased; we now know that the All New HTC One will be coming to Verizon and AT&T and we’ve seen various blurry photos of the device being spotted in the wild. Today, we get yet another two photos of the device, previously codenamed the HTC M8, the first as it is being used to take a photo of another photo, and the second of someone having their photo taken.
To conceal the identity of the persons involved in this leak, they’ve had their face censored in MSPaint, and we’re guessing these photos have actually been taken in HTC‘s native Taiwan seeing as these look like they were taken in the Taipei 101 tower. While this isn’t exactly anything we haven’t seen before, it is probably the first time we’ve seen the camera app in operation on the device, though someone who owns a current HTC One would be best to point out any differences.
What do you think about these leaked photos? Are you considering getting the All New HTC One when it is announced on March 25th? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Drew Bamford drops some hints about the all new HTC One and the HTC smartwatch
While we’ve been getting a fair number of leaks and rumours surrounding the all new HTC One, previously codenamed the HTC M8, we’ve heard very little from HTC themselves about the device apart from when the announcement event is going to be. Thankfully, Androidworld managed to catch up with Drew Bamford, HTC’s lead software designer, at MWC 2014 and got his thoughts on a few things including the all new HTC One and the HTC smartwatch. About the new Sense UI, Bamford had this to say:
“I think the great thing is that you won’t have to wait three years or even a year. On March 25th, we’re going to have a lot more to talk about with some new experiences that you’ll be very excited about. And really, what we’re doing there is capitalizing on the experiences that have been successful in HTC Sense 5 and 5.5 and really taking them to the next level. faster Access to the information that’s important to you, a more responsive experience that understand you and anticipates your needs and more ways to express yourself with your phone.”
So straight from the horse’s mouth: if Sense 6.0 wasn’t already a sure thing, I think that pretty much confirms that the all new HTC One will have HTC’s next iteration of their user experience. Bamford went on to also talk about HTC’s upcoming smartwatch and their design considerations:
“We think wearables are a very exciting category/ we’ve said publicly that we’re working on wearables – we have been for some time. The reason we have not released one yet is because we want to do it right. You’ll see us bring out some wearables when we feel we’ve actually gotten to the right point in terms on craftsmanship, design, integrated experiences. That’s what we’re aiming for. We want it to feel like a natural part of your every-day life rather than a new gadget.”
It’s definitely a bold statement as I think many of us feel that nobody has truly captured the perfect wearable or smartwatch yet. Still, HTC’s fans would say that if anyone could do it, it would be HTC, so let’s see what happens come March 25th. For the full interview, check out the video down below:

[LEAK] Evleaks tweets carrier versions of the all new HTC One, including Verizon and AT&T
If any of our U.S. readers were wondering whether the all new HTC One was going to be coming to American carriers, you now have some kind of confirmation (if there was any doubt at all), for Verizon and AT&T customers at least. King of leaks, evleaks, has today tweeted two press renders of carrier versions of the all new HTC One bearing branding from Verizon (above) and AT&T (below).
There’s probably very little to glean from these pictures apart from the fact that the new HTC flagship will be coming to these carriers and that now we actually get a decent picture of the all new HTC One. The new device is expected to be announced at a March 25th event in New York City alongside HTC’s first attempt at a smartwatch. If HTC can walk the walk, especially with all the jabs they’re talking at Samsung, then the all new HTC One is definitely going to be a formidable device.
Are you going to be getting the all new HTC One? Let us know what you think about the device in the comments.
