[LEAK] The all new HTC One seemingly confirmed as official name for the HTC M8
With the biggest of the press conferences at MWC 2014 over, our eyes are now fixed on the March 25th event where it’s expected that HTC will be announcing their new flagship smartphone, allegedly called “the all new HTC One“. Codenamed the HTC M8, the device has been spotted in various leaked photos, most recently earlier today, and as far as we can tell, it indeed looks like a slightly newer HTC One. It looks like that name has been confirmed by evleaks who tweeted what looks like some marketing material for the new device, as seen above.
It’s definitely not the catchiest name, but it serves its purpose. The all new HTC One is expected to be released with some very interesting hardware including a dual-sensor rear camera which could change mobile photography as we know it. HTC doesn’t appear to be too fussed about the specifics of its upcoming device though, instead spending time having a go at Samsung following the release of its Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship, with tweets like these:
What do you think of the all new HTC One’s name? Think it’s a good name, or think it’s a bit of a dud? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.

All New HTC One Gets Photographed by Mr. Blurrycam
With MWC wrapping up, and all the Galaxy S5 backlash ceasing, there is still another phone to look forward to. Yes, the “All New HTC One” is a pretty dumb name for the new flagship, but as long as a packs a punch and has a couple new and unique features, we can look past the barely a name, name. The New HTC One has been HTC’s worst kept secret, given that it seems to want to be photographed where ever it may be.
New images of the New HTC One showed up on HardForum.com that were taken by Mr. Blurrycam. The images show us the silver variant of the new phone in what looks like a clear case. Makes the phone not look so polished like it did in recent pictures, and we get to see that dual-camera once again that a lot of people seem to not be a fan of. Let us know what you think about the new images, and if you are excited for the New One. March 25th will be the day, and hopefully people are more forgiving than they were with the S5.

HTC Teases the All New One in a Pretty Funny Video
HTC might not be too brilliant when it comes to marketing their devices, but a new video that landed today might steer them in the right direction. A new video segment called ” Technical Translation” hit their YouTube channel today, and it featured probably the best thing about the phone. BoomSound.
The video shows a smart scientist type guy, seeking the aid of a normal dense minded human being. Put them together and you got a recipe for success. What is great about it though is that they tease the “All New One” and do so in a very funny way. So check it out and let us know what you think of it.

Teaser confirms simplified branding for ‘all new’ HTC One (video)
We’ve seen reports that HTC would be keeping the name from 2013′s popular handset for its 2014 flagship, and today the outfit posted a BoomSound video teaser that seems to confirm the moniker. Taking a page out of Apple’s playbook, the “all new HTC One” is referenced several times in the latter half of the promo. Of course, what we’re led to believe in the upcoming device remains cloaked in blurred pixels and spoken details are bleeped out. It’s worth noting that the company’s PR has LOL’d at the notion of name consistency on Twitter, but we’ll know for sure next month when the new model is expected to be announced.

HTC teases the ‘all new HTC One’ in official video
I remember how everyone was excited that HTC will reveal the successor to HTC One at the Mobile World Congress, but instead they decided to unveil the new flagship on March 25th in New York and London. Why? Probably HTC didn’t want the Samsung Galaxy S5 to steal their thunder, however delaying it is making us even more curious, but that’s not it for HTC as they decided to come up with a teaser. They are calling it the “all-new HTC One”, and in the video below, you will see a guy telling you about BoomSound on HTC One, and then he will take out the ‘all new HTC One’ from his pocket. Want to know more? Check out the video below.
Well, what we know that the successor will feature a better sound quality, but that’s not at all. Anyway, still a month to go, so you better stay tuned.
Do you think the latest HTC flagship will be good enough to take on the Samsung Galaxy S5?

HTC EVO 3D saves man’s life by stopping a bullet from killing Him
While we’ve been clambering all over the new Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC phones are out there saving lives. This HTC EVO 3D (wrongly reported as a HTC One in the source article) saved a Florida man’s life today after it managed to stop a bullet that might otherwise have killed him. The phone was in his front shirt pocket when he was shot at manning a gas station in Florida, and it appears that the battery managed to take the brunt of the bullet without letting it pierce through.
While the man certainly has Lady Luck on his side, HTC has also decided to chime in on the whole event, sending the main a “Glad You’re OK” care package which includes a HTC One and assorted HTC accessories. That might sound like a good deal to you, but don’t go around getting shot at in case your phone doesn’t quite have the bullet stopping abilities of the HTC EVO 3D.
If you have a HTC EVO 3D, you can probably sleep a little better tonight knowing your phone is protecting you. Do you think your phone could stop a bullet? Let us know what you think of this story in the comments.

HTC’s ‘flagship mid-range’ Desire 816 packs a large display, decent cameras and LTE
That HTC “Desire 8” you’ve been seeing lately? It’s finally unveiled as the Desire 816, a “flagship mid-range” phone that promises to be competitively priced, while also offering LTE (for EMEA and Asia) and HSPA+ (up to 42 Mbps). This pretty phablet comes with a large 5.5-inch 720p display, a 1.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (capacity may vary), microSD expansion of up to a staggering 128GB and a fixed 2,600mAh battery. You’ll get a decent multimedia experience courtesy of the BoomSound frontal stereo speakers (with dedicated amplifiers), along with the 13-megapixel f/2.2 main camera (with Zoe mode in HTC Sense 5.5 UI) plus the 5-megapixel f/2.8 selfie camera. These are all tucked inside a 7.99mm-thick and 165g-heavy body, which is pretty good for the size.
Interestingly, this will be the first HTC phone to take a nano-SIM, which may be able to lure a few iPhone 5c users. Ultimately, it’s all about the price, and we should know very soon given the China launch next month (likely March 18th), followed by a global launch in April.
Update: We now have some hands-on photos. Enjoy!
Fortunately, we were able to have a few brief moments with the device. The more we play with it, the more we’re impressed with the overall design. It’s constructed with unibody polycarbonate, and it’s quite comfortable to hold, even at its 5.5-inch size. Interestingly, HTC opted for a shiny backside while its sides have a matte finish. Another nice touch to the phone’s design is, interestingly enough, in the side buttons; the power and volume buttons are located on the left side of the device, and the side of each button has a shiny beveled finish that adds a little extra bit of elegance.

HTC wants to combine all your Android phones to cure diseases (video)
With smartphones packing so much processing power these days, HTC reckons we can combine them all to do some meaningful number crunching à la SETI@home and Folding@home. We’re talking about curing diseases (AIDS, cancer, Alzheimer’s and more) as well as searching for alien life. As such, the mobile company has teamed up with UC Berkeley’s Dr. David Anderson, co-creator of SETI@home, for the HTC “Power To Give” initiative. To take part, you simply grab the app from Google Play, install it and it’ll run in the background when your phone’s being charged up plus connected to WiFi.
HTC claims that the combined power of 1 million Ones is almost just as good as a one-petaflop supercomputer, so the more the merrier — including those from other brands. But for now, HTC will first offer its app’s beta release to the HTC One family and the Butterfly series, and it’ll gradually add more compatible Android devices over the next six months. Isn’t it awesome that even Nokia phones can soon partake in this, too?
Update: The good folks at HTC have now published a couple of videos explaining this initiative. Check them out after the break.
