HTC One M8 Max could boast Snapdragon 805, 5.9-inch display

The HTC One M8 Prime will be the HTC One Max’s successor, carries a Snapdragon 805
We’ve been wondering if HTC would follow last year’s formula and release a phablet device to follow up the HTC One Max. According to TKTechNews, they are, and it’s being tentatively called the HTC One M8 Prime. This shouldn’t be confused with previous rumours about the HTC One M8 Prime which referred to a beefed up One M8 and has since been confirmed to be dead. Much like last year’s One Max, it’s rumoured that this M8 Prime (or One Max 2 if you prefer) will be styled exactly like HTC’s flagship but scaled up to accommodate a larger screen, allegedly 5.9-inches again.
The rumours also say that HTC won’t be adopting the fingerprint scanner from the One Max again, and will be upgrading the processor in the device to a Snapdragon 805, the fastest available Qualcomm processor to date. Of course, these are all just rumours so as always we’ll won’t get our hopes too high. Having said that, HTC released the One Max in October last year, so IFA 2014 might be an ideal forum to announce such a device.
What do you think about the HTC One M8 Prime being the successor to the One Max? Let us know what you think in the comments.

HTC’s big, budget-minded Desire 816 phone reaches the US on August 12th
If you’ve been intrigued by HTC’s big-yet-affordable Desire 816, you no longer have to go through an importer to get one in the US. The 5.5-inch Android smartphone will be available through Virgin Mobile on August 12th for $299 contract-free. Nothing has changed apart from the support for Virgin’s network, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing — while we’re not fans of the cameras, the 816 is a good deal if you want a large display at a low price (and haven’t scored a OnePlus One invitation). Don’t despair if you want something smaller or cheaper, either. AT&T recently launched the 4.7-inch Desire 610 for $200 on prepaid GoPhone service (free on a regular contract), so you have at least one other option for a modern HTC phone if the One and One Remix are too rich for your blood.

HTC Desire A11 leaks, might be the first device to use a Snapdragon 410 chipset
HTC is all set to add a new kid in their mid-range Desire family of Android smartphones. According to the leaks, HTC Desire A11 is going to be a mid-range smartphone with a 1.4 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 SoC and Adreno 306 GPU. It is going to be the first device to be running on a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset.
The new smartphone will have a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and a sharpness of around 195 pixels per inch. It will sport a 5MP back snapper without flash and a VGA selfie camera. It is likely to run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0 UI on top of it. While the device appears to be having quite decent hardware, the leaked images suggest that it would lack the dual speakers which are typically a signature feature of HTC’s high-end handsets.
The rumours suggest that HTC Desire A11 will hit the US market first. There is no word on when will it hit the stores globally.

One of HTC’s first 64-bit phones is a budget model for Sprint
Qualcomm teased us with the prospect of powerful 64-bit smartphones arriving in late 2014 and early 2015, but it looks like you’ll have to dial back your expectations for the first wave of devices. New tipster @upleaks has posted details and photos of HTC’s A11, a starter smartphone in the Desire line that reportedly uses the more modest (if respectable) 1.4GHz Snapdragon 410 for its 64-bit processing. Other elements are modest, too; you’re looking at a 4.7-inch 854 x 480 screen, plain speakers (sorry, no BoomSound here) and both a 5-megapixel rear camera as well as a front 0.3-megapixel shooter. No great shakes, then, although hints of a Sprint launch suggest that you’ll see it in the US. There’s no word on when the A11 will ship, although it’s believed to run the existing Sense 6 interface on top of Android 4.4 KitKit — that suggests that HTC may deliver its first 64-bit phone well before its usual spring refresh.

A new device from HTC known as the A11 is the first device rumoured to come with a 64-bit processor, according to @upleaks on Twitter. Nexus tablet codenamed Flounder certified in South Korea

It seems the idea of a new Nexus 6 or Nexus 8 being released is a case of when rather than if. We’ve had various leaks that suggest the Nexus 8, which seems to be codenamed Flounder, exists but no sign of a release date. It seems that the Nexus 8 or HTC Volantis has… Read more »

Bose may be HTC’s next audio partner, will try and minimize bezel on the next One
A common complaint of the HTC One M8 smartphone is that it doesn’t make the best use of its front design. While many phones are moving towards almost non-existent bezels around the display, including the top and bottom, the One M8 had a hideously large black bar that seemed to take up space for no reason at all. While HTC says the bar was there for a reason, if they want to continue to compete in the increasingly competitive market for flagship devices, they need to cut down on those bezels. Rumour has it that HTC has already started on that front, and that Bose may be HTC’s next audio partner that will help in trying to minimize the iconic BoomSound speakers that have adorned HTC smartphones for some time now.
Naturally, if the BoomSound speakers were smaller, that would in turn allow for the phone to be smaller overall, or if HTC choses, make the screen bigger without affecting the overall size of the devices. And who better to go to than Bose, masters of getting big sound out of very small things. It must be said that HTC has most recently been working with Harman/Kardon for the One M8, so we’ll have to see how this one plays out. If true though, the next HTC flagship is definitely going to be one for the audiophiles.
What do you think about HTC teaming up with Bose to improve the next HTC One? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
