Leaked HP video hints at a 14-inch laptop running… Android
Android on laptops is normally reserved for hybrid devices or units no bigger than 10 inches. If this leaked video is correct, however, then HP is planning to launch an Android laptop with a 14-inch display. The clip, found by Notebook Italia, shows a Slatebook 14 with a 1080p display, controlled by a quad-core NVIDIA chip and running a recent build of Google’s mobile OS. The video also shows that the Android soft keys will remain on the bottom of the screen, as well as adding them to the keyboard where you’d normally find the Esc and Windows keys. There’s not much more than that to go on right now, but we’ve pinged HP to find out if this is really coming, or just the hopeful fantasy of someone who really hates Chromebooks.

Forked Android Based Nokia X Selling Very Well In India
Nokia’s first Android smartphone, the Nokia X which was launched last month is selling very well in India. It is already being listed as one of the best-selling and popular smartphones in all the leading online stores such as Flipkart and Snapdeal. Similar is the case with offline retail stores in the country. Priced at around INR 7,000 in India, the Nokia X runs a custom version of Android, usually referred to as ‘forked Android’ on top of entry-level hardware.
To remind you, the Nokia X is equipped with a 4 inch IPS LCD screen, 1 GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 3 MP camera and dual SIM card slots. Nokia X replaces all the Google services with Microsoft versions such as HERE Maps, Outlook, OneDrive and Bing Search. There is Nokia’s own Android app store but it only lists free applications and games. Other third-party app stores like 1Mobile Market, Yandex or Amazon App Store can be installed to get paid applications and games. You can also root the Nokia X and install stock Android custom ROM along with Google Play Store if you want.

Jump around with GravyBot HD

Ever dream of being a robot that just jumped around, free-styling it through levels? Well, GravyBot HD has the answer to fill that void in your life.
Daft Monkey Games just released a new challenging arcade game that is based on realistic physics while using unique game mechanics to create a fun and addicting game.
Basically you are a robot. You start the game by choosing your color and then you must jump your way through various levels. The robot is able to jump off the floor and certain obstacles, however, you must be sure to land on your feet. If you crash out and land awkwardly, you die and must restart the level.
Sound easy? Yeah it’s not. The unique controls for the game are two buttons. One is on the right, one is on the left and they are pretty much like spin buttons. Pressing the right one spins your GravyBot forward, while pressing the left one spins it backwards.
The goal of the game is to jump your GravyBot through the entire level reaching the teleport-like looking object at the end of the level using only the front and backward spin buttons.
GravyBot HD is a free, ad-supported game on the Google Play Store. Future updates will add more levels.

YouTube for Android now auto-generates playlists of your favorite artists
Making YouTube playlists can be a real pain, especially if you just want to veg out listening to music after a long day at work. If you’re using an Android phone or tablet, though, you can now just type in an artist’s name and voilà — YouTube will auto-generate a playlist with the artist’s most popular videos. The results, however, are mostly Vevo clips, and (sadly) it might not work for lesser-known artists. According to Android Police, this feature (called YouTube Mix) recently made its way to Android after popping up for desktops first in 2013. The lack of fanfare suggests it’s just something Google’s been experimenting with, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this is the first time you’ve heard of it. Since Mountain View hasn’t officially announced anything, we can’t say whether all Android users can access YouTube Mix — but it’s the weekend anyway, so have fun trying it out.

Android is reportedly getting voice commands everywhere
Outside of the Moto X, hands-free voice commands on Android are limited; pick up a Nexus 5 or Galaxy S5 and you’ll find that “OK Google” only works at the home screen. If Android Police‘s sources are accurate, though, you’ll soon get to bark out orders no matter where you are in the interface. Google is reportedly trying out an “OK Google everywhere” feature (mocked up here) that, much like the Moto X, is always listening and responds only to your voice. It might also pay attention to what you’re running. If you’re browsing snapshots, for example, you could tell your phone to “share this photo.”
That may not be the only change in store. Experiments are reportedly underway with a new navigation bar that replaces the usual home button with a “Google” item. Hit that and you’d start a search without having to speak first. If you need to return to the main screen, you’d use the “recents” (read: multitasking) key. Suffice it to say that this would be a big break for Google, which hasn’t changed its basic approach to navigation since Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) in 2011.
Don’t count on either the voice or search features coming to a phone near you, however. While AP believes that at least some of these Android revisions will reach shipping software, they’re not guaranteed to make the cut. Also, these may only show up in the official Google Now launcher — third-party phones could mix things up. Still, we wouldn’t rule out seeing any of these features on stage at the I/O conference this June.

Android now lets you search for hotels and restaurants you can actually afford
So far, Android search hasn’t been very discriminating when it comes to hotels and restaurants; finding a posh eatery one block away is no use if you can’t afford it. Google is about to provide relief to wallets everywhere, though, as it just updated the mobile search app to include filters à la Foursquare or Yelp. Ask for a place to eat or stay and you can narrow the results by price range, cuisine style, rating and hours. The upgraded search only works in the US at the moment, but it should eventually be a boon to anyone who’s looking for a cheap bite or a late-night crash pad.

eBay’s new mobile apps are all about you
eBay’s mobile apps just got a little more personal. The company refreshed its offerings for the iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone 8 today, unveiling a new look for the apps that’s customized to your habits. The highlight of the update is a new “My Feed” section on the home screen which populates with large photos of items you’ve indicated you want (like this epic collection of 125 Goat books). It looks a lot like Pinterest, with updated imagery that makes you feel a little more like you’re shopping for high-end antiques rather than crap someone found in grandma’s attic.
If you’d prefer to bid on a “Stylish Lion Mane” for your pooch from the mobile web, you’re in luck. Those accessing the site from their phone or desktop browser will also get the new personalized feed. The update isn’t quite live yet, but will launch with the ability to list items for sale from your phone as well as respond to offers and browse through Daily Deals. Because bargains like this $5 unisex toilet bag don’t come along everyday.

Samsung denies slashing Galaxy S5 price in India by INR 5,000
Samsung Galaxy S5 was launched in India earlier this month with a price tag of INR 51,500 ($842.90 USD). Later, HTC launched the One M8 with a price tag of INR 49,900 ($816.71 USD) and the device will be available on the 7th of May. Just after which, the Galaxy S5 was found selling for INR 47,000 ($769.25 USD) at various online stores in India. After a number of blogs reported this as a price drop of INR 5,000, Samsung today, came out to clarify that they haven’t slashed the Galaxy S5 price in India but still, various online retailers are selling it far below its official price tag just a couple of weeks after its official launch. However, Samsung states that its official price is still INR 51,500.
The primary competitors of the Galaxy S5 are selling for a much lower price in comparison. The LG G2 is being sold at a very aggressive price of INR 34,000 ($556.48 USD) and the Xperia Z1 is being sold at a price of INR 35,000 (572.85 USD). The chief competitor of the Galaxy S5, Sony Xperia Z2, is not yet available for purchase in India. To remind you, the Indian version of the Galaxy S5 comes with a 1.9 GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 5422 processor instead of 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset.

IFTTT Android App lands on Google Play Store! Get ready for some unique Android related recipes
IFTTT fans! It’s a great day for us. IFTTT has released their official Android app on the Google Play Store. IFTTT or If This Then That is a free service that lets you connect various web applications together through simple conditional statements.
Users can create unlimited ‘recipes’ from nearly 100 different web services including social networks, cloud storage products, sharing services, sports score providers and Android as well as iOS related channels, etc. IFTTT has been praised by a lot of tech experts and publications such as Forbes, Time, Wired and the NYTimes.
You can use it to duplicate files between Dropbox and Google Drive or send a text to yourself when it is going to rain. IFTTT for Android allows adding even more Android related channels such as location, SMS, notifications, calls and photos. You can use these new channels in collaboration with other already existing web services to create your custom recipe as per your need. It would be great if IFTTT works in collaboration with Tasker, yet another Android app which makes possible condition based results.
