Take your pick from 4 deals on VPN lifetime subscriptions!

tigervpn-2

Looking to get yourself a VPN subscription? You no longer need to worry about insane prices or monthly payments. The AA Deals Store has more than enough discounts to go around. In fact, you can currently take your pick at four VPN lifetime subscriptions, all being offered at crazy discounts.

Whether you want to keep your browsing private or need to unlock location-restricted websites (Netflix, Hulu, etc.), these VPN services should take care of business very well. Now, the real issue is choosing between them. Let’s take a look at the one by one and see which one is the best for you, shall we?

TigerVPN Lite lifetime subscription – $29

This VPN lifetime subscription may be the cheapest of the bunch, but it certainly isn’t a bad contender. TigerVPN Lite does provide good security. It encrypts all your browsing and offers 10 Gbps servers optimized to limit latency. In addition, users can choose from 15 nodes in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Denver, Frankfurt, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Miami, Montreal, New York, Toronto, Vienna & Zurich.

TigerVPN keeps your data usage unlimited and is compatible with a bevy of devices. Supported platforms include iOS, Android, Mac OSX, Windows and even routers. To be honest, this one may just be one of the hottest VPN deals in this post, even though its the one that costs the least. By the way, it’s also the most discounted of the bunch at 96% off!

Buy TigerVPN Lite lifetime subscription for only $29!

TigerVPN

VPN Unlimited lifetime subscription – $39

Not happy with the option above? You can opt for VPN Unlimited, which is 70% off right now. This service offers a secure and encrypted connection, unlimited bandwidth and a high-speed connection optimized for latency reduction. The real benefit here is that you can access a longer list of servers, if that is something you really need. Oh, and you can have 5 devices connected simultaneously, a feature which happens to be quite important. TigerVPN only allows for one active connection at a time.

VPN Unlimited 3.0 also includes downloadable global server lists, fast server switching, added servers and hands-on statistics for each device. VPN Unlimited is also compatible with iOS, Android, Mac OSX Windows and Linux. Not a bad deal, right?

WiFi Protector VPN lifetime subscription – $49

WiFi Protector VPN is pretty popular. It does what it’s advertised to do, and it does it well. The coolest part about this service is its simple user interface, which allows you to connect to over 20 servers across the world. Of course, it has unlimited bandwidth and fast servers, too. The only downside about WiFi Protector VPN is that it only supports Windows and Android. Not an issue for most people, though.

VPN Land lifetime subscription – $49.99

Is the most expensive VPN subscription in this list worth the cash? To some it might be. VPN Land doesn’t fail to offer speedy connections from 9 available countries and secure browsing. But the coolest aspect is that this service happens to support the most platforms and devices. You can use it with Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OSX, Linux and, get this… BlackBerry 10!

Buy VPN Land lifetime subscription for only $49.99!

Which one are you getting?

It’s hard to decide, but I would personally go for VPN Unlimited. It’s super affordable, has plenty of servers in different countries, supports a plethora of devices and allows for multiple products. I do like how TigerVPN Lite can be used with routers, though. Which do you prefer?

Motorola Moto 360 (2nd Gen.) officially announced – everything you need to know

11_Mot_360_StyleSport_Combo_0116_LftWtchMtl_V5_RGB[5][3]

After numerous rumors and leaks over the past few months, Motorola has finally unveiled the second-generation Moto 360! The new Moto 360 collection comes in both men’s and women’s models, and there’s also a sport variant that will become available at a later date.

The regular (non-sport) model comes in both 46mm and 42mm options for men, and the women’s line comes in at 42mm. All variants feature a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage. The 46mm option comes with a 400mAh battery and a 1.56-inch LCD display with 360 x 330 resolution, while both 42mm variants come with a 1.37-inch LCD display with 360 x 325 resolution. Both sizes are covered in Gorilla Glass 3.

As you can see from the images above, there are a few different design elements this time around. For starters, Motorola has added traditional lugs to the watch, which will let you change out your watch band much easier. The power button has also been moved to the 2 o’clock position, as opposed to the 3 o’clock position on last year’s model.

01_Mot_360_Sport_HeroCombo_0062_Comp_V11_SIMP

As for the Moto 360 Sport, it features a GPS, a silicon band, and an AnyLight display that will allow for easier reading in both light and dark situations.

You’ll be able to customize the Moto 360 via Moto Maker, with the ability to choose from different bands, casing colors, and sizes. There are quite a few different color options to choose from, including Black, Gold, Silver and Rose Gold (women’s variant only), and you can also choose from leather, stainless steel and Rose Gold (women’s only) straps, as well.

The non-sport variants of the watch are available for pre-order starting today from the Google Store, Motorola.com and Best Buy. Prices range from about $299 to $429, depending on which style and watch band you select. The new watches will also be available in-store in late September at Nordstrom, Best Buy and Verizon as well. Motorola says it will share Moto 360 Sport availability with us sometime soon.

New Apple TV reportedly starts at $149, packs universal search

The current Apple TV

No, the torrent of rumors surrounding the next Apple TV hasn’t ended yet. Sources for both 9to5Mac and BuzzFeed News now believe that the media hub will start at $149 — still much higher than Apple TV boxes from recent memory, but better than the $199 mentioned in the past. Whether or not that’s your only option is up in the air, though. Apple has reportedly “considered” a two-tier lineup with both a base 8GB model and a 16GB option for those who want to run more apps. It may just as easily offer a lone 16GB version at that price, though, so don’t count on anything just yet.

Both leaks also suggest that one of the biggest additions may be the previously hinted-at universal search. As with many rival devices, a single search (including through Siri voice recognition) will pull up content from a host of services, not just those from Apple or whichever app you’re using. To put it mildly, that’s a big deal. While the Apple TV has long been friendly to competing media services, universal search would give them even better treatment — you’d know at a glance whether or not you can save some money by watching that movie on Netflix instead of iTunes.

These latest scoops otherwise tend to back up claims that we’ve heard before. The set-top is expected to use a dual-core A8 processor (much better than the single-core A5 from today), and won’t play 4K video. That’s a bummer given the price, but the rumors suggest that Apple is less interested in competing on specs and more on hard-to-quantify features like app support and an intelligent interface. If the murmurs are accurate, you’ll get the full skinny on September 9th.

Robots can learn from their mistakes in real-time

UT Arlington's Frank Lewis surrounded by technology

Robots and other artificial intelligences can already learn from their mistakes, but they typically have to pause what they’re doing to process what happened. They might not have to take a break in the future, though. Researchers have patented a technique, Integral Reinforcement Learning, that has devices continuously refining their actions based on each previous decision. If a machine doesn’t already know the optimal way to handle a task, it can keep walking through the scenario (whether by predicting the outcome or actually trying) until it gets things right.

The approach could be useful for just about any computing task where constant optimization is important, such as autopilot systems or your car’s emission controls. However, it might be most useful in robotics. Many robots don’t adapt well to unexpected conditions — this technology could help them improvise and otherwise make the best of a bad situation. No matter where the invention ends up, it’s safe to say that autonomous devices will be both smarter and more efficient while they’re at work.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 is twice as friendly to your battery

Qualcomm E3 Snapdragon Gaming World Record Challenge

Qualcomm is clearly bent on drumming up hype for its Snapdragon 820 chip by drip-feeding facts, but its latest revelation is a big one. The company has revealed that the Kryo CPU at the heart of the chip is up to twice as power-efficient as the Snapdragon 810, even though it’s up to two times faster. While that doesn’t necessarily translate to twice the battery life, it does promise significantly better performance without a hit to your phone’s longevity.

Part of this leap comes through the use of energy-efficient 14-nanometer FinFET manufacturing and a truly customized 64-bit CPU. However, the real party trick is the 820’s use of heterogenous computing, where the chip doesn’t have to rely as heavily on its main processor as in past designs. It can ask for the help of the graphics core (the Adreno 530), digital signal processor (the Hexagon 680) and imaging processor (Spectra) in combinations that make the most of what each part can do. Snap a photo, for example, and it’ll put all of the above components to work (plus a few more) in relative harmony. That should help the new Snapdragon both reach its peak performance and save power, since it can operate multiple processors in short bursts and quickly shut down those elements it doesn’t need. It’s not clear just how much these upgrades will translate to real-world improvements, but this definitely isn’t a Snapdragon 801-style speed bump.

Amazon reimburses you for Dash Buttons after your first purchase

In late July, Amazon quietly made its Dash Buttons available to all Prime members, without any announcement or fanfare. Today, the company finally made its new program official, and added products from 11 new brands in the process, though it’s still limited to Prime subscribers only. The new additions bring the total to 29 brands that tally over 500 products — all of which can be ordered with the push of a button. What’s more, Amazon will also reimburse you for the $5 buttons when you use them to make your first purchase. In other words, you can give it a shot and if you end up not liking it (or even if you do), you’ll get your money back. In addition to household items like laundry detergent and food, you can now use the buttons to order mints, gum and protein powder, among other things. For a full list of the available items, take a look here.

Video Review: The Solpro Helios Smart Battery Pack Charges Your iPhone Using the Sun

For our latest video review, we went hands-on with the Solpro Helios Smart, a solar-powered battery pack that can recharge using three built-in solar panels.

It sports a 5,000mAh battery that can charge an iPhone 6 from dead to full twice over, and when the battery is exhausted, it can be charged through an included micro-USB cable or by opening its solar panels and sticking it in the bright sun.

We liked the size of the Solpro Helios. It’s about the size of an iPhone but slightly thicker, which means it’s small enough to stick in a pocket or a backpack when on the go. It can charge an iPhone or an iPad with dedicated ports, and there are some built-in LED indicators that let you know the battery level and whether its solar panels are working.

In our testing, it took about six hours for the Solpro Helios to recharge in the sun after it was drained, but the amount of power you’re getting is going to vary a lot based on location and the brightness of the sun.

It’s not the fastest charger, nor the cheapest, but the Solpro Helios definitely works and it can be handy when you’re in an area where traditional power is unavailable.

Solpro’s Helios Smart Solar Battery Pack is available from the Solpro website or Amazon.com for $119. It comes in white, orange, and black.

Google Now version 5.2.33 rolls out with new logo [APK Download]

Google updated their company logo and inevitably the updates to their apps followed. This particular update sees Google Now be bumped to version 5.2.33 and their Google Now Launcher feature the new logo as well as some new animations and a splash of colour.

Google has decided to add lots of colour to their launcher, and even the microphone icon now has colour. There’s a visual refresh when it comes to the Google Now part of the system, with new animations for swiping away. I like the new design as it seems to add a bit of character to an otherwise flat design.

You can find a detailed rundown of the APK over at AndroidPolice. You’ll see the new Maps version 9.14 app rolling out to the Google Play Store, but if you’d like to download it now, you can grab it below.
