E FUN’s new Android tablets offer access to Verizon’s 4G LTE network
E FUN, the hardware manufacturer that puts together low-end Android and Windows devices, has two new Android tablets available with an optional 4G LTE connection. The Nextbook Ares 8L and Nextbook Ares 10L are pretty much the same device. Between the two, the only difference you will notice or even find is that display size. Other than that, everything is the same. The display resolution is 1280×800, the processor is an Intel Atom paired with 1GB of RAM, and there is 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot. The most interesting thing about these tablets, however, is the capability of utilizing Verizon’s network.
Both tablets can already be purchased from Walmart or Verizon. The price for the Nextbook Ares 8L is listed at $144 but Verizon will allow you to pay $4.88 by signing a two-year contract. The Nextbook Ares 10L raises that to $193 off-contract or $9.88 with an agreement from Verizon.

Property business app Domain increased installs by 44% by adopting Material Design and Play Services
Domain is a multi-platform property business based in Australia that provides info and advice for anyone looking to buy, sell, rent, or invest.
The app itself originally wasn’t so fantastic, but has since increased its installation rate by 44% and improved its overall app rating from 2.8 to 4.1. The app didn’t use any sneaky tricks or anything to get those drastic improvements, either; all Domain did was integrate Google Play Services and follow Google’s Material Design standards for Android apps.
The company has posted a video showing some of what went into the change and how much better the changes have been for the company. It’s a pretty good indicator that when developers do apps right on Android, they see the kind of success they deserve.

Vodafone UK will be getting a special Bond Edition Sony Xperia Z5
The Sony Xperia Z5 was just announced not too long ago and already special editions are being made. This one is a James Bond special edition to celebrate the new movie SPECTRE, offered exclusively from Vodafone UK.
Anyone who buys the Bond Edition Z5 will have the chance to download some special edition SPECTRE themes and content. Not only that, but there are also prizes and special offers to make this deal even more exciting.
The 007 edition Xperia Z5 will still feature all the same features that make it just as great as the normal one such as: 23 MP camera, 2-day battery life, world’s fastest autofocus, and more. However, the exclusive content this Bond version will have are: official Bond themes, wallpapers, and a behind the scene blog from Miss Moneypenny herself which can all be downloaded from the Xperia Lounge. Nice so far, but that is not the best part.
Anyone who pre-orders will be entered into a draw to win one of 50 Aston Martin experience days, that allows you to drive a variety of Aston Martin cars. Plus, Vodafone UK say if you pre-order or buy the Bond phone you can get a huge savings on a Sony Action Cam Mini so you can film your trip.

The Kardashian sisters have launched an app each and charge monthly fees, because reasons
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Some of us are still trying to fathom why the Kardashians are still relevant after all this time, and that pondering is about to get even more confusing. The Kardashian sisters have launched an app each – the sisters in question being Kim and Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner – but the most unusual thing about the apps are that while they are free to download, they require a $2.99 monthly fee to presumably use the app.
Undoubtedly, the app will provide such important life information as fashion, and I suppose some other stuff too. $2.99/month would have been a stretch for an app with all 4 sisters in the one app, but $2.99 per app just seems ludicrous – but somehow I feel like some people will still be happy to pay. This kind of app – free with monthly fees – appears to be the speciality of some guy called Tyler, who also has a similarly designed app with monthly fees.
At this point, you already know what to do, but if you feel compelled to check it out, the links are down below:
What do you think about these apps? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

LG possibly announcing a new phone on October 1st?
LG has sent out invitations for an event they are having on October 1st. Currently we have zero details other than the date and that it will be in New York. What could it be for?
Microsoft is holding a Windows 10 event in New York only a few days before. Google is also hosting an event in San Francisco where it will announce the next Nexus, also made by LG.
However, what will LG be unveiling? Is it possible they will show off the leaked V10, which is said to have a second “ticker” display? Possibly another smartwatch? Leave in the comments your thoughts as to what it could be?

Facebook push notifications now available via Chrome, no official app needed

With the introduction of the Chrome Push API, Google made it possible for websites to push notifications through their popular mobile browser. This proves to be a huge step for many web developers and companies, as they no longer have to make users download an app in order to get updates on the latest happenings. Facebook has now joined the party after working with the Search Giant to bring convenient alerts to web users. This Facebook notification feature is live on Chrome and can be activated at will!
Now, we know what you are thinking: why not just get the app? And that is a legit doubt for many of us tech geeks with ample internet and storage availability, but there’s definitely plenty of people out there who would rather use the web version of the social network. First, remember the Facebook app is huge; in my phone it weighs in at 210 MB and an extra 135 MB of additional data. That is a lot of space for someone who’s phone storage space is limited.
In addition, the Facebook website is known for being faster, less data hungry and not requiring any updates. It’s actually a very popular solution in emerging markets, which is why this feature’s introduction is much more exciting than many of us would believe.

Those who want to take advantage of Facebook push notifications via Chrome can do so very easily. Let’s run you through the steps.
How to get Facebook push notifications through Chrome:
- Before anything, let’s make sure your Chrome app is updated to the latest version. You can check this at the Google Play Store.
- If all is good to go, simply open the Chrome app on your Android smartphone.
- Go to m.facebook.com and sign into your account.
- A request to allow push notifications should show up. Tap on the “Allow” button.
- You are done! You can also double check by tapping on the 3-dot menu button, going to Settings > Site Settings > Notifications and seeing if Facebook is in the “Allowed” section.

This is an important stepping stone for a better future in mobile communications. Not that native apps are going anywhere, but it’s obvious not every company needs a whole app, and they may still want to get in touch with users when an important notification becomes available. Now it’s possible to do this straight from the most popular browser in the world.
Have any of you guys tried this? Is it something you will be using every day? Hit the comments and let us know! By the way, I have Facebook notifications active on Chrome and it works like a charm.
Watch PlayStation’s Tokyo Game Show keynote right here!
Sony was entirely absent from Europe’s annual Gamescom tradeshow last month, but the electronics juggernaut isn’t going to sit out the premiere event on its home soil, the Tokyo Game Show. In fact, the outfit wants everyone to watch it tonight during a livestream. The keynote’s scheduled for an English broadcast and we’ve embedded the live player right below. What can we expect come 2AM ET? Probably an update on how many PlayStation 4 consoles the company’s moved since it last announced that 20 million number, and maybe even a hard release date for the console’s big 3.0 system software patch.
Oh and probably a lot of info about third-party games because that’s what Sony tends to do at these types of things. Could a hard street date and price for Project Morpheus happen? There’s a possibility, but the company has to save something for Paris Games Week. However! It won’t be too long before we all find out together.

YouTube’s PewDiePie is (definitely not) starring in a TV show
Let’s start this off with a disclaimer: PewDiePie is a massively popular YouTube personality who reacts in funny ways while playing video games. He has more than 39 million subscribers, he’s been spoofed on South Park and he makes millions each year. He’s successful at being silly — which is serious business, as Twitch’s $1 billion price tag, YouTube’s new Gaming section and its coming Subscription services demonstrate. A lot of people enjoy PewDiePie and a lot of people don’t. Either way, his success and impact on the live-streaming industry is uncontested. That’s why he’s newsworthy.
Now, on to the news. Felix Kjellberg, known on YouTube as PewDiePie, is in Los Angeles right now to work on something that sounds a lot like a TV show.
Kjellberg is under orders to not talk about the project, but he’s been vlogging his adventures in America (he hails from Sweden) and dropping hints along the way. Daily-life vlogs are new for PewDiePie, as his usual videos are “Let’s Plays,” which feature him sitting at a desk and playing games.
“I found out that I can’t really say too much of what I’m doing here,” Kjellberg says in his second vlog installment. “People are worried it’s going to leak into the media too soon and this vlog might ruin it. Tomorrow though, I am going to go to the doctor because of the show. Or whatever I’m doing. No one knows what I’m doing. It’s not a show. Me, doing a show? No.”
The subsequent doctor-visit video includes shots of Kjellberg surrounded by a camera crew and filming an intro with famous LA landmarks. The exam room, for what it’s worth, doesn’t sound like any doctor’s office we’ve ever been in. And, apparently it was all very strange for Kjellberg. “This was the first day and I can’t tell you what happened…. I had the weirdest day of my life,” he says.
Kjellberg is branching out from his desk chair recently: His first book, This Book Loves You, is due out in October. A TV show (or whatever he’s working on in LA) would be another first for him, and it’d be part of a recent YouTube-to-film migration that includes Grace Helbig (The Grace Helbig Show), Anna Akana (Ant-Man), Smosh (Smosh: The Movie) and others.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 packs 600Mbps LTE and smarter charging
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 hype train is getting to be a bit much (just ship the thing, already!), but you might want to take notice of the latest news if you’re big on data speeds — or simply want to charge your phone in a hurry. The company has revealed that its future system-on-a-chip will include the first processor to support super-fast 600Mbps LTE-Advanced, blowing past the 450Mbps record from before. It’ll upload at a brisk 150Mbps, too, and this chip is the first to support unlicensed LTE (aka LTE-U). Oh, and did we mention that it’ll allow for multi-gigabit 802.11ad WiFi? You probably won’t get to use much of this technology in the near term, but it’s good to have a ton of futureproofing.
So what’s the deal with charging? According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 820’s focus is on intelligent fast charging rather than raw performance. Its new Quick Charge 3.0 spec is up to 27 percent faster when refilling your battery, but the big deal is an algorithm that saves energy during those rapid-fire recharges. Compared to Quick Charge 2.0, you’re losing up to 45 percent less power — that could add up over the typical life of a phone or tablet. The 3.0 implementation is also better at both choosing the exact voltage you need, reducing the risk that you’ll overheat your devices or shorten your device’s lifespan.

The bad news? Like the Snapdragon 820 itself, you’ll have to wait for most of this technology to show up next year. Some of it is arriving sooner, however. The Snapdragon 617, a new mid-range chip with eight cores and 300Mbps LTE, will support Quick Charge 3.0 when it arrives by the end of 2015. You can also expect that fast top-up tech to reach a slew of other Snapdragons, including the equally new 430 (an eight-core, 150Mbps budget chip due in spring 2016) as well as the already-announced 618 and 620.
