AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge now getting Android 5.1.1 update

It sure took AT&T a while, but the popular carrier is finally releasing the Android 5.1.1 update to Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices across the USA. Plenty of online reports claim the update started rolling out today and is ready for download.
Before proceeding with the update, keep in mind this is a 660 MB file, which is a pretty hefty size. You will want to give the device time for it to download, preferably over a WiFi connection.
There are a few main changes in tow. Of course, the usual Android 5.1.1 improvements are around, including improved Quick Settings, revamped volume settings and more. But this specific update also brings some neat improvements that are exclusive to the Galaxy devices.

Samsung users can now get rid of the S Settings and Quick Connect buttons, for example. There’s also changes to the icons, making them look more similar to those in the Galaxy Note 5. The camera app should also be getting some added functionality, and Guest Mode is likely to be added, as well as Android Pay.
Those who are not getting the notification to update should head over to Settings > About Phone > Software Update and check to see if they have any upgrades available now. Those Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices deserve it!
Have any of you guys gotten the update? Can you find any other new changes? Hit the comments to let us know!

Aaron Sorkin Apologizes for Blasting Tim Cook’s ‘Opportunistic’ Comment
Early this month Tim Cook sat down with Stephen Colbert for an interview and called movies made about Steve Jobs “opportunistic.” Yesterday, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Aaron Sorkin issued a scathing response to Cook, saying “if you’ve got a factory full of children in China assembling phones for 17 cents an hour you’ve got a lot of nerve calling someone else opportunistic.”
Today, during an interview with E! News, Sorkin walked back his comments, saying that both he and Cook went a little too far.
“You know what, I think that Tim Cook and I probably both went a little too far. And I apologize to Tim Cook. I hope when he sees the movie, he enjoys it as much as I enjoy his products.”
Sorkin’s Steve Jobs film, which stars Michael Fassbender as Jobs and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak will be released in New York and Los Angeles on October 9. The film will expand to more theaters on October 16 and open nationwide on October 23. Early reviews of Steve Jobs have called it “thrilling”, with Oscar buzz surrounding the film.
The film is based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography, which Cook has said does a “tremendous disservice” to the Steve Jobs that he knew. The movie follows Jobs during three product launches, providing a behind-the-scenes look at how Jobs interacted with friends, colleagues and family.
Uber starts testing pre-paid service for events in NYC
Uber is launching yet another new product, but this one targets a specific group of people: event organizers, especially those tired of fielding calls from guests who can’t make it due to car troubles. The service called UberEvents allows organizers to buy and secure passes ahead of the occasion to send to guests, clients or whoever needs one to get to the location via email. Guests will only have to enter the code under the Promotions section of the Uber app to hail a ride. Now, nobody will be able to use car issues as an excuse anymore, and party planners won’t have to worry about how to send drunk guests home. Uber is initially making Events available to Business users and select people in New York City, though the service will be accessible by everyone in the metropolis within the coming weeks.

Leaked presentation reveals the Nexus 6P will feature a big 3450mAh battery

The latest Nexus devices have been leaking like crazy as of late. We’ve already gotten a good look at some purported press images of the LG-made Nexus 5X and Huawei-made Nexus 6P, including a long list of specs for each device. But if you thought you’d have to wait until the official unveiling on October 29th to get another look at the new handsets, we have some good news for you. Someone has just leaked an official Google presentation for the Huawei Nexus 6P, giving us many more details on the upcoming higher-end Nexus device.

According to the slides, the Huawei Nexus 6P will feature a 5.7-inch WQHD display, a slim, metal unibody, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, dual front-facing speakers and a USB Type-C port. All of these specifications have been rumored for some time, so these shouldn’t come as a surprise. What hasn’t been rumored is the device’s battery size, which, according to the slides, will come in at 3450mAh. The 6P’s screen will also be made of Gorilla Glass 4. The device will also weigh a total of 178 grams, which is relatively light considering the Nexus 6P’s all-metal build. For comparison, the Motorola Nexus 6 weighs 184 grams.
The device will come in 32, 64 and 128GB variants and will be available in Aluminum, Graphite, Frost and Gold color options. The Gold option will be a Japan-exclusive for the time being.

Aside from the specs listed above, the slides aren’t really showing us any other new bits of information we haven’t heard in the past. One slide does talk about the 6P’s improved camera that will let in more light for better quality photos, as well as a faster Google Camera application that will let you capture photos much more quickly.

There are also some slides that detail some new features that will be available with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, including Google Now on Tap and the new Doze feature that will help save precious battery life.
We’re still not sure how much money this device will cost or when exactly it will be available, but we probably won’t need to wait much longer to find out.
