Telegram is currently rolling out an update for its official Android client via the Google Play Store. This upgrade bumps the software version up to 3.2.1 and brings a nifty new feature which enables users to send a message to all adopters of the application that share a common interest.

The new functionality has been named Channels and is essentially a network-wide broadcasting platform. The idea being that Telegram users can create an individual Channel to discuss a particular topic, and other users can follow the Channel for timely updates.

The full changelog can be seen below:

  • Introducing Channels – a great new way to broadcast your messages to unlimited audiences (replaces old Broadcasts).
  • Fixed app startup on Android 2.2
  • Fixed media sending on Android 4.0

If you already have the Telegram application downloaded on your smartphone or slate and would like to install the update, simply open up the Play Store, toggle the hamburger menu by swiping in from the left-hand side of the screen, select ‘My Apps’ and click on ‘Telegram’, then hit the update button.
