G Data Secure Chat is a safe and easy way to send encrypted text messages on Android

Germany-based software company G Data has just released a new secure messaging application to the Google Play Store. It’s called G Data Secure Chat, and it offers users secure end-to-end encryption for individual and group chats, as well as the ability to quickly and securely send images and photos.
As far as features are concerned, Secure Chat provides just about everything you could want from a secure messaging platform. It features a built-in self-destruct timer which will allow the sender to specify when a text or image will be deleted, even on the recipient’s mobile device. It allows you to back up your chat history to your SD card, and even encrypt your local chat history using a password. These features are all available in the free version of the app.
With the premium version, Secure Chat features a phishing filter for URLs in chat messages, as well as a filter for incoming and outgoing SMS. You can even hide SMS messages from specific contacts. The premium version requires a valid G Data Internet Security for Android license, which you can purchase from G Data’s website.
If you’re at all worried about other people getting a hold of your private SMS messages, G Data Secure Chat might be the application you’ve been waiting for. Plus, it’s available now on Google Play for free, so what do you have to lose? Security Firm Offers SECURE CHAT in Celebration of its 30th Anniversary
Free version available to consumers with premium features added for G DATA Internet Security for Android users
Atlanta, GA – September 17, 2015 – Over two billion smartphone owners worldwide use mobile messaging. To prevent private communication from being tapped into and to enable users to retain their full digital freedom simply, quickly and securely, G DATA has released its messaging application, SECURE CHAT. The app is initially available for Android and offers highly secure, multiple-encrypted SMS and chat communication that also includes sharing of files such as images or graphics. SECURE CHAT protects the privacy of the user against data leaks and cyber eavesdropping, and offers the freedom of exchanging chat messages and data securely. G DATA has opted for the secure Axolotl protocol for SECURE CHAT which is available now for free in the Google Play store.
“In today’s world, the privacy of the individual as well as businesses is in constant peril with the growing ability of hackers to tap into and steal data,” said Andy Hayter, security evangelist, G DATA. “We created the SECURE CHAT app with the strongest encryption protocol possible, to offer users the ability to easily communicate with each other without having to worry about the security of their conversations and data”
Privacy guaranteed
G DATA SECURE CHAT offers multiple-encrypted SMS and chat communication and guarantees the secure exchange of photos, videos and other media. Users retain the rights to their images and texts without fear of third party exploitation or re-use. Thanks to the self-destruct timer in SECURE CHAT, the sender can specify when images or messages are deleted – even on the recipient’s device.
Encrypted communication
Due to its elliptic curve cryptography process, the Axolotl protocol is internationally considered to be practically impossible to hack. G DATA insisted on a method that allows the servers for SECURE CHAT to be located on company premises. This lets G DATA guarantee its customers’ adherence with the German data protection act.
G DATA SECURE CHAT is now available for free in the Google Play store, with full encryption functionality for SMS and chat communication.

G DATA turns 30: from a garage start-up to a global business
In 1985 Kai Figge and Andreas Lüning visited the Hanover trade fair. Both were fascinated by the new Atari ST that was presented at the show. From the very beginning, there was great demand for this computer and the associated software. The young men decided to take the plunge and started developing software that they marketed under the name G DATA. It did not take long for the first viruses for the Atari to show up, spreading themselves from diskettes via the boot sector. At the time, no software existed that offered protection against this type of malware. This inspired Andreas Lüning to develop software in 1987 that scanned diskettes for viruses – the first commercial security solution in the world.
About G DATA

Scott Games announces a new Five Nights at Freddy’s RPG called FNAF World, coming to Android

Fans of the popular Five Nights at Freddy’s series will be happy to know that the game’s creator has no intentions of ditching the story anytime soon. Scott Games has taken to Steam to announce a new title called FNAF World, which is a new RPG that’s slated to launch on Android, iOS and PC.
FNAF World shouldn’t be considered a Five Nights at Freddy’s 5. The main storyline ended in Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, which was launched on Google Play back in July. Instead, FNAF World is a whole new game that features all of your favorite (or least favorite) characters from the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. The developer explains:
The new game that I’m working on will be called FNAF World. It will not be a horror game, but a role playing game where you create a party using the huge selection of characters from the FNaF games, including the classic, withered, toy, phantom, and nightmare versions. I’ve been working steadily on characters and hope to start on enemy models next week.
Since the game’s scope is much larger than any previous game in the series, the developer doesn’t have any promo materials or demos for us quite yet. There will be a free demo released in the future, but a timeframe is unknown at the moment. We’re not sure when the game will be released, but we’ll let you know once we get some more information.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited for yet another game in the series, or were you hoping for a more traditional Five Nights at Freddy’s title?
Early iOS 9 Adoption Rate in Line With iOS 8 Adoption
iOS users are installing Apple’s latest operating system at roughly the same pace iOS 8 was installed last year, according to multiple analytics companies that are tracking iOS 9 adoption rates. iOS 9 has now been available for download for just over 24 hours.
Mixpanel’s live iOS 9 tracking site suggests iOS 9 is now installed on approximately 12.60 percent of devices, which is in line with iOS 8 adoption rates in 2014.

“iOS 9 has received 12% adoption in the last 24 hours and is being adopted similar to iOS 8 last year. This kind of adoption took Android’s latest operating system, Lollipop, in comparison 5 months to achieve. One huge advantage Apple got right this year over last year was that the update is much smaller than last year (3.5x smaller) < Apple has empathy for its users who have nearly maxed out the space on their phones. However, one issue for it being substantially slow compared to iOS 7 is that servers are having trouble keeping up right now as people update."
Because each analytics site tracks a different selection of iOS users based on app installs, iOS 9 installation numbers vary quite a bit across platforms. All of the sites tracking iOS 9 adoption agree that it is on pace with adoption numbers seen after iOS 8 was released last year, however. Tapjoy is seeing adoption rates spanning from 4 percent to 7 percent, based on device, while Fiksu is seeing 6 percent of its users running iOS 9.
According to GoSquared, iOS 9 users now represent 12 percent of total iOS traffic, a number that’s on par with both Mixpanel’s count and an 11.84 percent measurement from analytics company Paddle.
Two years ago, iOS 7 saw much quicker adoption rates than we’re seeing with iOS 9, but that is not surprising as iOS 7 marked the last major design update to the operating system. iOS 8 and iOS 9 brought many new features, but few visual changes.
What is surprising is that iOS 9 adoption is not outpacing iOS 8 adoption because iOS 9 has a much smaller installation size. While iOS 8 required 4.58 GB to install, iOS 9 only requires 1.3 GB, making it much more accessible to users who have little space open on their devices.

Nextbit’s Verizon-ready Robin debuts tomorrow on Kickstarter
Verizon customers will be happy to know that, yes, the Nextbit Robin will have a special variant that is ready to operate on their carrier’s network.
After receiving many requests, Nextbit started exploring the possibility of a Robin that would work with Verizon and Sprint’s networks. The first Robin that debuted on Kickstarter (which is still available today) only supports GSM networks, obviously meaning that some people would be left out. So Nextbit confirmed that a Verizon-ready Robin is coming. The company did not, however, mention whether or not a Sprint variant is still being considered.
A special flash sale will start at 1:00PM ET on September 18, pricing the Robin at $299 on Kickstarter for the first three hundred backers. Once those units are taken, backers can just choose any reward level and complete a survey later on that asks which variant they would like.
Nextbit is also introducing the Community Color Contest. The Robin is currently being offered in Midnight and Mint, but Nextbit wants its community to get creative and choose their own. The company has a Photoshop file available for download that allows people to customize the colors of a Robin. Then, after choosing five of their favorites, Nextbit will open voting to its backers. The winner will see their customized Nextbit Robin be an option for backers prior to the handset shipping.

CCA and T-Mobile disagree with AT&T’s 700 MHz purchase
AT&T have said that T-Mobile and the Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) are challenging it’s purchase of Lower 700 MHz spectrum without any reason as to why. T-Mobile claims that AT&T bought it simply to take more low-band spectrum.
Joan Marsh, AT&T’s vice president of federal regulatory said:
“AT&T’s ownership of 700 MHz B Block licenses is wholly uncontroversial — we purchased many in the 700 MHz auction and have been enhancing our B block footprint through small deals for some time,”
He went on to say how the spectrum was purchased to “provide AT&T with a sufficient position to support a 10 x 10 MHz LTE deployment in 700 MHz in the relevant markets”. A 10 MHz configuration is more spectrally efficient and has a larger throughput than a 5 x 5 MHz deployment. The FCC has also endorsed this type of thing before.
Marsh said T-Mobile offered no real argument to oppose the deal.
“without offering any cogent argument or justification, CCA and T-Mobile have opposed the deal, arguing that the Commission should simply prohibit any incremental low-band spectrum aggregation by AT&T and Verizon. Period. They essentially assert that low band spectrum transactions should be deemed presumptively unlawful for any company named AT&T or Verizon.”
The FCC came out with new rules last year stating that if a carrier gained control of one-third of the spectrum below 1 GHz in a given market they will be under enhanced review.
Marsh commented on the new rules and what CCA and T-Mobile said:
“With this argument, CCA and T-Mobile fundamentally misconstrue the FCC’s new enhanced factor analysis,” and “Far from any presumptive standard, the Commission has retained its fact-based, case-by-case approach to transaction reviews, an approach that has worked well for many years in that it balances public interest benefits against concrete competitive harms. In the enhanced review, the Commission now considers low band aggregation as an enhanced factor that warrants heightened scrutiny. And given the detailed information the Commission has sought on this transaction, it is clear the Commission is taking the heightened scrutiny standard very seriously.”
CCA President Steve Berry was not too impressed with AT&T and said to FierceWireless:
“Despite being given every opportunity imaginable, AT&T has yet to meet its burden of proving why it needs so much low-band spectrum in rural markets and how this transaction significantly benefits the public interest,”
