iMovie for iOS is ready to handle your 4K video editing
If you’re determined to produce a 4K masterpiece on an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus or iPad Pro, you now have one of the tools you need to get the job done. Apple has delivered an iMovie update that switches on 4K editing for its most powerful iPhones and iPads, giving you an easy (though not professional-grade) way to edit extra-sharp videos on the move. You can’t capture 4K on the iPad Pro, alas, but it’s powerful enough to edit multiple 4K streams. The giganto-tablet also has room for a larger media browser and a video viewer that shows every single pixel of a 1080p clip.
Those aren’t the only improvements, either. You can use 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus to start movies from the home screen, and you can pair a keyboard with your device (including the iPad Pro’s Smart Keyboard) to use some handy shortcuts. iMovie will also accept 1080p videos at a glass-smooth 60 frames per second (on an iPhone 6 or newer). And if you’re already running iOS 9, it’ll do iPad multitasking through the iMovie extension for Photos. This upgrade won’t really live up to its potential unless you pick up one of Apple’s latest gadgets, but you’ll still want to download it if you’re iOS device owner with cinematic ambitions.

Uber appeals class action status in lawsuit over driver compensation
Californian Uber drivers may have won class action status in a lawsuit demanding that they be treated like employees rather than contractors, but Uber isn’t about to let this decision go without a fight. It’s appealing the class action ruling on the grounds that there isn’t really such a thing as a common Uber driver. They all operate differently, the ridesharing service says. Moreover, treating drivers as employees would supposedly force drivers to give up their flexible hours.
Companies try to shoot down class action lawsuits all the time — these cases are typically costlier, and harder to settle out of court. However, Uber has more motivation than most to avoid facing an entire group of complaints. If the class action lawsuit prevails, Uber might be compelled to treat all its Californian drivers as employees, with the benefits and compensation that this entails. The firm’s very business model is built on minimizing the cost of recruiting drivers — it’s going to deal with a lot more overhead if it has to pay for fuel, health care and other expenses.

Android vulnerability allowing attackers to easily bypass passwords in lock screens

We like to think our password-protected lock screens will keep our data secure. At the very least it should force thieves to perform a factory reset and keep our private information away from strange hands, right? The truth is this is not always the case. As with any other operating system, Android has its faults, and the guys over at The University of Texas at Austin have discovered a pretty nasty bug that can grant anyone access to certain phones.
The attacker needs no software or coding, nor does he really have to be an experienced tech geek. This is really pretty simple to do, which is why we can’t call it a hack. The good news is that it only affects devices running Android 5.0 to 5.1.1 Lollipop. They also have to be using a password-protected lock screen. In addition, the attacker has to have the phone in his/her possession for some minutes.

How to access Android 5.x devices
This is no rocket science. The idea is pretty much to input so many characters into the password field that it will force the device buffer too much, choke and give in. But the phone can handle a lot of text, which is why the intruder will need to open up the camera app at the same time (which is also accessible without a password input).
In the video, we see the tester launching the phone app (Emergency Call) and creating a long string of characters by copying and pasting. Once it’s long enough, he switches over to the camera app, pulls down the notification bar and presses on the Settings button. This, of course, will request a password. From there, just keep pasting the same string of characters over and over within the text field. Eventually, the device will not be able to handle the lockscreen process and let the user right in.

Where’s the fix?!
Pretty scary, right? I mean, it was reported only last month that about 18.1% of active Android devices are on Lollipop. That’s a whole lot of us, but we do have good news for you. This vulnerability has already been fixed for devices like the Nexus 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10.
Other large phone makers should be jumping on board relatively soon… or at least we hope so. You know how manufacturers and carriers can drag their feet when taking care of these software updates.

How to protect yourself
Thankfully, we don’t necessarily have to rely on software updates to keep our Android smartphones protected. Just switch over to PIN or pattern unlock methods and you will be fine. These other lock screen protection techniques are not susceptible to this vulnerability.
Yota and ZTE will partner to launch the YotaPhone 3
The YotaPhone 2 introduced one of the most unique designs of any Android device ever to hit the market. Its interesting rear display concept improved battery life and made reading easier on the eyes. According to a recent report, the company is planning a partnership with ZTE in order to create the YotaPhone 3.
The YotaPhone 3 will likely bring a unique design to the table just like its predecessor. Unfortunately, everyone living in North America had a hard time getting access to Yota’s previous handset due to a supply shortage. Let’s hope the company will change that with its YotaPhone 3 handset.
The YotaPhone 3 will likely launch in Q1 of 2016. Yota plans to produce more than 100,000 handsets this time around to ensure everyone who wants one, gets one. The agreement with Chinese manufacturer ZTE will hopefully help that. In addition, ZTE plans to give Yota some help when it comes to software and development. With market-share growing in the states, ZTE has a chance to strike big with this one. The handset will likely run Android, however rumors suggest the company might switch to Sailfish instead. We’ll keep you updated.

LG teaser shows Something New is coming on September 21st
On October 1st, LG plans to hold an event where it will announce its V10 flagship quality smartphone. According to a new teaser from LG, that may not be the only handset the company will announce. A mid-range LG Class smartphone with model number LG-H740 is expected to launch a week prior to the company’s announcement of the V10.
Earlier today we spotted the LG-H740 on Geekbench. The handset will likely include a large 5.7-inch display powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The handset will have 2GB of RAM, a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter. The handset will include Android 5.1.1 pre-loaded and have 8GB of on-board storage space.
The handset is known as the ‘LG Class.’ By having the word ‘Class’ in the name, the company may be suggesting an all-new upper-class Premium device but with mid-range specifications . The teaser shows a similar design to the majority of LG’s handsets but this time with an attractive metallic finish. According to the teaser image we can expect the handset to arrive on September the 21st. More details are bound to leak by then.

Hulu brings picture-in-picture TV viewing to your iPad
The picture-in-picture video mode in Apple’s iOS 9 was practically tailor-made for watching TV while you get things done, and Hulu knows it. The streaming service has updated its iOS app with support for PIP viewing, letting you revisit Seinfeld at the same time as you check Facebook. This probably won’t be the only major streaming service to welcome PIP with open arms — c’mon, Netflix — but it’s definitely one of the most important.

Lyft partnership will help you get a ride in China
Ridesharing services don’t usually translate well across borders. Even if you can use the same company, you may have to pay in a different currency — how do you know what that trip will cost until you’ve paid for it? Lyft might have a way to set your mind at ease. It just unveiled a partnership with China’s biggest ridesharing firm, Didi Kuaidi, that will make it easier for travelers in both China and the US to hail rides. If you’re an American visiting China, you can request a Didi car through the Lyft app in dollars; accordingly, a Chinese visitor to the States can use Didi to get a Lyft vehicle while paying in yuan. This ideally gives you both access to a service with a lot of coverage (Uber’s Chinese footprint is small compared to Didi’s) and prices you can understand.
The alliance is part of a larger “Rides Everywhere” initiative that could reach other countries. According to the Wall Street Journal, Lyft and Didi are talking to would-be partners in India and Singapore. And of course, both sides of the deal aren’t doing this solely to be nice to each other. Lyft is not only getting a $100 million investment from Didi, but the kind of Chinese coverage (though not the revenue) that Uber can only dream of. Didi, meanwhile, could snag both more travel-minded customers at home and hurt Uber’s bottom line in the US. It’s not certain that this team-up will do much to tip the balance in the ridesharing wars, but it may well make your next trip to Shanghai considerably easier.

Apple launched its first app ‘Move to iOS’ on Android
Apple has launched its first application on Android. Dubbed Move to iOS, the application aims to help Android users seamlessly move contacts, SMS history, photos, bookmarks, and account information to an iPhone or iPad.
Apple announced the application back in June during WWDC 2015. Some wonder why it’s taken Apple so long to bring it to Android, however, iOS 9 launched today so it wasn’t surprising that they waited to launch the new Android app alongside that.
Keep in mind that to use Move to iOS you’ll need either your iPhone or iPad and your Android device on the a secured Wi-Fi network. Applications will, of course, not transfer over, but just about anything else will.
Unfortunately, the Move to iOS app has already been plagued with condescending reviews on the Play Store, largely from users that hate Apple simply for the joy of hating Apple. However, If you’re moving to iOS, it might be worth a shot. Be sure to hit the download link below to give it a try.

AT&T increases Unlimited Data cap from 5GB to 22GB
In what can be perceived as a damage control move, AT&T has increased its unlimited data limit from merely 5GB to a reasonable 22GB per month. The change comes after the FCC proposed a $100 million fine against the mobile carrier for misleading its customers with the promise of “unlimited” data. Although the carrier no longer offers unlimited data plans, subscribers who had such a plan could continue to renew them.
The subscribers of the unlimited plan used to face considerably slow speeds once they hit the limit, and to make the matters worse, there was no way they could get their limits increased before the next billing cycle. However, now they can rejoice as the throttling limit has been upped, and they will begin receiving notifications of approaching the limit once they use up 16.5GB of data.
The best thing about AT&T’s new policy is that the data cap would only apply if the subscribers are in congested areas, but as soon as they connect to a tower with less network congestion, they should start getting full speed internet.
AT&T’s new policy is direct result of new net neutrality laws which prohibit data throttling, but allow reasonable network management. The FCC announced today a proposed $100 million fine of AT&T over allegations the carrier was improperly throttling data speeds for unlimited plan customers and in particular that the company failed to adequately disclose the throttling consumers may face.

Todoist gets a new brand and logo, updates Web and Mac interface
Todoist today announced a new brand and revitalized logo (pictured above) alongside updates to its Web and Mac interfaces. This comes not long after Todoist was updated to follow Google’s Material Design guidelines, making it one of the most beautiful note taking apps on Android.
This new brand comes with an improved web apps, Mac interface, blog, and even color scheme. There’s even a new typeface–Open Sans to Graphik. A red color takes a more prominent place on its web apps, but users can switch back to the previous all-white design.
Todoist has been working on revitalizing its entire note taking application for a year now. It first changed with the aforementioned Material Design update, and now a revamp to its entire brand. It’s certainly made the app stand out much more and look like a more premium experience. Unfortunately, while many features are free, many of the coveted features cost $30 per year, making Todoist a steep option over Wunderlist for some.

The improvements to its Mac and Web apps bring a cleaner and vibrant design. It also comes with 10 color customization for the top navigation bar, along with new icons, and a focus on more modern web design guidelines–responsive design.
The Android application has already been updated to reflect these changes, so if you haven’t got the update yet, be sure to hit the download link below.
