Along side Verizon, AT&T is also going to be selling would be buyers the LG Watch Urbane. They are listing it online today for $349.00 and it will be the same Silver offering that Big Red is getting their hands on. Shipping is free for standard shipping where as express will cost you $14.95. AT&T is a little less open on the timeline, but I chatted with a rep and was told standard would be 3- 5 days and express would be 1-2. Verizon has the upper hand for $0.99 more, at least until they hit store shelves. It all depends on if you have any carrier loyalty or if you just want the watch as fast as possible. As a reminder, the LG Watch Urbane packs all the same innards that most other Android Wear devices sport with a Snapdragon 400 processor, 410mAh battery, 1.3-inch 320×320 P-OLED display and 4GB of storage. It does sport Wi-Fi and runs Android 5.1 out of the box though. So that is a perk for those looking to leave their phone at home.

LG’s G4 is now official, complete with leather back and sharpshooting camera
After all the teasing LG has been doing lately, they’ve finally taken the wraps off of the G4. There aren’t many surprises here, between the official videos that LG has put out and the numerous leaks we’ve seen over the past few weeks, but that doesn’t take away from what’s looking like a fantastic flagship for 2015.
The design of the device hasn’t changed much from the G3, which is either good or bad, depending on how much you liked last year’s model. This time around, LG is releasing the phone with several different leather-backed options, which LG says takes three months per back to make. Seems a little excessive for something that’s only a removable back, but hey, as long they’re high quality parts, no one should complain.
As far as specs go, everything lines up with what we’ve been hearing. The G4 sports a 5.5-inch QHD screen, just like the G3, but the panel is supposedly 11% more power efficient, 25% brighter, and with 20% more color accuracy. It’ll be interesting to see how the display fares next to Samsung’s acclaimed Galaxy S6.
Other hardware includes the Snapdragon 808 (pouring more fuel on the Snapdragon 810’s overheating controversy), 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, plus a removable 3,000 mAh battery and microSD card slot. No wireless charging here, but with the back being removable, LG will be likely offer some kind of solution if you’re willing to buy accessories for it.
The camera has been a bragging point for LG up to this point, and the G4 looks like it’ll give other smartphone cameras a run for their money. The 16 megapixel shooter has an f/1.8 lens and better image stabilization, plus a ton of new software tweaks for professionals and enthusiasts to get their photos exactly how they want. RAW capture and manual shutter speed and ISO settings were among the features LG wants to show off with the G4’s camera. Again, Samsung’s latest flagship offers the biggest competition to the G4, and with the S6 Edge sitting at the top of the heap for smartphone camera quality, LG will have to offer something extraordinary to be able to compete.
As for the rest of the software, you’ll find Android 5.1 with LG’s additional software on board, many of which we’ve already seen. LG claims they’ll only be shipping the G4 with Chrome installed, instead of Chrome and a built-in browser, and they’re bundling in 100 GB of free Google Drive space with the purchase of the device. Most of the native apps on the device also integrate with Drive, which is a very nice touch if you’re in Google’s ecosystem.
Last year, LG did moderately well thanks to Samsung’s slightly disappointing Galaxy S5. This year, Samsung came out swinging with the Galaxy S6, which has been repeatedly praised as one of the best devices Samsung has ever made. That’s going to make LG’s job much harder with the G4. Having a bigger screen and expandable storage should help, but I think it’s going to be a very competitive year for both companies moving forward.

Sony may market Xperia Z4 as Xperia Z3+ outside of Japan
Last week Sony launched a new device in Japan that they called the Sony Xperia Z4. Unfortunately, the reception to the new device was tempered when it became clear that Sony had not changed much compared to the Xperia Z3. The design of the two devices is basically the same with the only real differences being the chipset, front-facing camera, and the USB charging port. Perhaps due to that cool reception, Sony may choose a different name for the device when it eventually hits other markets around the globe, possibly the Xperia Z3+.
The source for this alternative name comes from a document for a case for the Xperia Z4. The list of compatible devices for the case lists “Xperia Z4/Z3+”. Since there have been no rumors for another device based off the Xperia Z3 and given that the case will work with the Xperia Z4, sources think the odds are good Sony is planning to use the Xperia Z3+ name outside the Japanese market. That should please some who see the Xperia Z4 as just a minor iteration of the Xperia Z3, although it may create some naming issues for Sony down the road as they try to get their Japanese product line in sync with the rest of the global market.

Carriers announce G4 availability
With the G4 finally being official, carriers are announcing vague availability for the device. HTC and Samsung managed to launch their flagship devices simultaneously on all major US carriers on April 10th this year, so LG will probably be able to pull off something similar.
So far, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon have announced plans to carry the device, although none of the carriers have mentioned exactly when we can expect to be able to purchase it. T-Mobile is running an early experience program, however, so if you sign up through T-Mobile you’re entered in a chance to win a G4 before its publicly released.
We’ll keep you updated as more carriers announce their intentions to carry the device. AT&T is almost guaranteed to follow, and I’d imagine we’ll hear something from US Cellular soon, too.

Huawei launches Honor 4C handset and two new budget tablets
Huawei has just unveiled two new tablets along with a midrange smartphone under its Honor lineup. The 4C is a midrange device with a budget friendly price tag and should make its way to the global markets sometime soon.
The company has also launched the Honor Play Pad which is a 7 inch budget ranged tablet sporting a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It also comes with a Spreadtrum SC7731G 1.2GHz quad core SoC, 16GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 4,100 mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with cellular connectivity on board as well.
The Honor Play Pad Note comes with a slightly larger 9.6 inch 1280 x 800 display, a quad core Snapdragon 410 SoC, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat as well as a 4,800 mAh battery. Although it offers a SIM card slot, it’s only limited to data connectivity and doesn’t offer voice calls like the Play Pad.
The sole smartphone in the newly launched lineup, the Honor 4C has a 5 inch 720p display, an octa core Snapdragon 615 SoC on the local Chinese version, a 13-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, 2GB of RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2,500 mAh battery underneath.
The Honor 4C handset has been priced at 799 CNY ($129) while the Honor Play Pad Note will set you back by 999 CNY ($161). The smaller Honor Play Pad tablet will cost 599 CNY ($97).

Micromax looking for investors in defense of Indian market
In case you have not noticed, the Indian market is a hotbed of activity lately with companies like Sony and HTC announcing plans for the country in hopes of keeping up with manufacturers like Samsung and Xiaomi that are moving into the country. One company that has not missed out on the increased scrutiny the Indian market is getting is Micromax, one of the local favorites in India. Although Micromax enjoys a bit of a home field advantage, the company cannot rest its laurels on that and sources indicate the company has started the process of bringing on board some new investors to help provide capital for future research and development needs.
Micromax does not comment on market speculation, but sources believe the company hopes to raise up to $1 billion from investors. One source for the funds that has been cited is Japan’s SoftBank, which could join existing investors like TA Associates, Sequoia Capital, Sandstone Capital and Madison India Capital. Another option for Micromax would be an IPO, but analysts think the company’s leaders are not yet ready to go public.
Micromax hopes an infusion of capital will help it develop new products and services so that it can differentiate itself in the increasingly crowded Indian market. According to one firm, Canalys, Micromax is the largest smartphone vendor in India as of the fourth quarter of 2014, overtaking Samsung on the way to claiming 22 percent of shipments. Staying in that top spot will be a challenge, but the potential upside is worth it as India is the fastest growing market in the world right now.

Mophie Juice Pack for the LG G4 to increase battery life by 80%
Mophie’s new LG G4 case promises to give you more screen on time with the device. This juice pack for the smartphone will supposedly amp up the battery life by up to 80%, which is pretty impressive for a third party accessory.
The company has similar accessories for almost all flagships out there, so it was only a matter of time before they showed us something for LG’s newly launched flagship as well.
The Mophie Juice Pack has a 3,450 mAh battery inside, which should bring in at least 15 additional hours of talk time. The LG G4 comes with a 3,000 mAh battery by default, so the extra capacity will certainly help. The accessory won’t come for cheap though and you will need to shell out $99.99 for this case.
In addition to serving as an additional battery, the case also does what it’s supposed to – keeping your device safe thanks to the rubberized pads located around it. Mophie is currently taking pre-orders for this accessory and will start shipping it from late June.

Motorola takes a jibe at LG, points out they had a leather clad smartphone before them
The launch of the LG G4 has obviously given the competition something to think about. And Motorola is not wasting any time in taking a jibe at LG, claiming that they had a leather covered smartphone a good one year before the LG G4.
Motorola is clearly referencing the Moto X here, which comes in leather as well as standard polycarbonate variants. LG hasn’t particularly been vocal about the leather back cover on the LG G4, but it will be interesting to see what the company has to say in response to this. It is possible that LG will charge an additional fee for the leather clad G4, which is what Motorola does with the Moto X as well.
The LG G4 has a bit more customization on its leather back panel compared to the Moto X, so the Korean manufacturer has an advantage there. Customers will be able to get the LG G4 from Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile as well as retailers like Best Buy and Amazon starting next month.
