‘Battlebots’ reboot will air on ABC June 21st
We knew the Battlebots TV show would crawl out of its early 2000s grave for another six episode run on ABC, and now the network has announced when. Sunday April 21st at 9PM, Battlebots will once again light up screens with robot vs. robot combat, now enhanced with the elimination of weight classes, the addition of onboard cameras and “a greater emphasis on the design and build elements of each robot.” The competitions didn’t actually stop once Comedy Central turned the TV lights out in 2002, so in a few months we should see how a decade or so of maker culture has advanced the sport — as long as the producers’ desire to add backstory doesn’t get in the way. Hey, it can’t be worse than Fuller House.

“BATTLEBOTS” – PREMIERES SUNDAY, JUNE 21
“BattleBots” is a reimagined take of the killer robot combat sport from Whalerock Industries and the creators of the original “BattleBots” franchise, Ed Roski and Greg Munson. The homemade robots will battle against each other, in a single elimination tournament style format, until there is one champion. The six episode series features next generation robots – bigger, faster and stronger than ever before. The show will have a greater emphasis on the design and build elements of each robot, the bot builder backstories, their intense pursuit of the championship and the spectacle of the event. Separate weight classes will be eliminated so that robots of all sizes will battle against each other. State of the Art Onboard Technology and Cameras will provide audiences with enhanced viewing and combat analytics. There will be cash prizes for winners in the Championship Rounds. MGM Television, which has a development deal with Whalerock Industries, will be distributing the program internationally. Executive Producers are Lloyd Braun, Chris Cowan, Ed Roski and Greg Munson.

Dell announces the 10.5 inch Venue 10 7000 with attachable keyboard
Dell has announced the bigger, better version of their Venue 8 7000 tablet. The Dell Venue 10 7000 tablet is keeping the weird naming conventions with a slight change for the bigger 10.5 inch screen. The specs are mostly unchanged from last time around, but Dell has a made a few improvements in the form of accessories and the battery.
The Venue 10 sports an odd cylinder on one of its edges that houses a battery and stereo speakers. The battery will supposedly last 7 hours on a single charge, and it also forms a dock for a keyboard that Dell is selling with the tablet. Once the keyboard is attached, you can swivel the entire device around like the newer convertible laptops that are available.
Other hardware includes a 2k screen, Intel’s RealSense cameras with a matching Atom processor, and 32 GB of internal storage. It’ll run Android 5.0 when it releases later this month, and you’ll be able to buy one for $499, or $629 if you want to spring for the keyboard with it.

Another potentially addictive game has hit BlackBerry World. Fatal Escape from ovogame (who gave us Smiley’s Pop and Jump Birdy Jump) is a platform scrolling game and using just a screen tap you must maneuver your cube as far as possible. One wrong move and it’s game over though.

No Escape – Lasers, a rather difficult endless runner for Windows Phone
No Escape – Lasers is a relative new Windows Phone game that joins the ranks of a crowded field of endless runner games available in the Store. No Escape tries to set itself apart with a somewhat unique game style/orientation for this particular genre. No Escape is played in vertical orientation as opposed to the more traditional horizontal view.
After receiving a few tips on No Escape and how challenging game play can be, we decided to take it out for a test drive. No Escape – Lasers is available for low-memory Windows Phones and after playing the game for a few days, it comes across as a decent game to pick up from time to time. I think it may struggle as a go to game but don’t be shocked if it takes you some time to see a double digit score.
