With the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge now officially released, you can bet Samsung will be throwing everything they’ve got at marketing the device. Samsung are touting this as the ‘Next’ device, where they have focused on offering a premium device and premium experience.

The beginning of such marketing material can be seen in the below commercial, which is the official launch advert for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Samsung are renowned for their massive marketing attempts to get the word out about their device, and I suspect the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge won’t be any different.

Apple in Talks With Florence and the Machine, Taylor Swift About Exclusive Beats Content

Apple couldn’t establish lower pricing for its upcoming music service to distinguish it from competing services, so the company is hoping to draw in subscribers by offering exclusive content. Apple has asked Florence and the Machine and a dozen other artists for exclusive deals to promote the upcoming music service, reports Bloomberg.

Apple is said to be in talks with Florence in the Machine about limited streaming rights to a track for the band’s upcoming album in June, and Apple execs have also approached Taylor Swift and others in the hopes of establishing a deal. An exclusive deal with Taylor Swift could be a big win for Apple as she’s opted to pull her music from some streaming services like Spotify. Such exclusives could bring in music-loving subscribers that might otherwise not pay for a music subscription.

beats-music-app-ios
The strategy is similar to a tactic employed by Jay-Z’s recently relaunched music service Tidal, which also hopes to attract subscribers through content that can’t be obtained elsewhere. At launch, Tidal released a new song from Beyonce, following it up with an exclusive song from Rihanna.

Exclusives could work to help Apple garner subscribers, but the company’s most promising tool for gaining subscribers is its huge existing customer base. Millions of people own iPhones and iPads, and Apple can create a streaming music app that’s heavily integrated within iTunes and installed on Apple devices automatically.

As we’ve heard in previous rumors, Apple is working to completely revamp Beats Music to turn it into an all new subscription music service. It may gain a new name, says Bloomberg, and it will cost $9.99 per month for individuals, with a family plan available for $14.99.

Apple may be planning to unveil its new streaming music service at its upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

‘Postal’ admitted to Amazon Appstore, continues to be blocked from Google Play

postal_android_game_banner

This week, the game Postal was blocked from being distributed through the Amazon Appstore and Google Play. Why? The game, which is part of a series launched in 1997, features graphic content. Being blocked from the Amazon Appstore and Google Play is quite an issue considering the amount of users accessible through those digital storefronts.

Running with Scissors, the developer behind Postal, was served with notices from Amazon and Google that the game is too violent and thus does not meet their guidelines. Amazon’s rejection notice was not detailed, but Google specifically claimed that the game is “gratuitously violent.” Running with Scissors’ Mike Jaret-Schachter took to Twitter to voice his disappointment with the decision. He specifically noted games like Grand Theft Auto III being available to consumers.

Fortunately, Amazon did acknowledge that Postal should have a place in the Appstore and it is now available. Google, though, has not commented on the matter and Postal remains blocked from the Play Store.

Deal: The Moto 360 is available on Amazon and Best Buy for just $179 ($70 off)

Moto 360 deal

The Motorola Moto 360 is still one of the best wearables on the market, even though it’s been quite awhile since its launch. If you have yet to jump on board with the wearable craze, now may be your chance. Right now, both Amazon and Best Buy are selling the Moto 360 for just $179.00. Considering that’s a massive $70 off the normal retail price, we’d say you should pick one up before it’s too late. Oh, and if you aren’t a big fan of the leather strap, both retailers are selling the metal strap option for only $219.00.

In our full review, we explained that the Moto 360 was one of the best Android Wear devices out there. While the battery life isn’t the best and the processor could use an upgrade, it’s still one of the only completely round smartwatches on the market, and we’d have no problem recommending this product to anyone looking for their first wearable. For more information on the Moto 360, check out our full review.

We’re sure this major price drop has a lot to do with the Apple Watch going on sale today, but whatever the case, we’re happy to see a great product receive such a big discount. To pick one up for yourself, head to the source links below.

JXE Training Day: What is ‘League of Legends?’ An expert explains

Look no further than the world of eSports for a concrete example of how the very idea of popular culture has warped in the past decade. Just because something is popular with an enormous group of people, that doesn’t mean that it’s truly ubiquitous. When most people see the word “baseball” around the world, they can conjure up the basics. eSports, and all of the many very different games that fall under that banner, still occupy a weird, weird space. Take League of Legends, arguably the most popular eSport in the world. The League of Legends World Championship can net 32 million viewers and all of those viewers can still be called “crazy” by successful, seemingly popular sports reporters while scholarships for League of Legends college players are laughed at. Just because there are millions of fans, that doesn’t mean everyone knows what they’re fans of.

Engadget will be your guide into this world of competition. If you don’t know what eSports are, what a MOBA is or what a League of Legends may be, then we have a show for you. JXE Training Day is a regular eSports show for beginners, introducing competitive games and how to look at them. Our first series begins with an extensive, bi-weekly look at League of Legends.

Our very episode of Training Day will go live at 3PM ET today on Twitch.tv/Joystiq, Engadget.com/gaming, and right here in this post. Come meet our host Loc Tran, a League of Legends tutor and captain of San Jose State University’s ClickAway – Dream Team, as he explains precisely what League of Legends and what a MOBA actually are.

Dig Training Day and all of our streams? Follow us on Twitch.tv/Joystiq. You can also follow Loc on Twitter, Twitch, and Facebook.
