A few simple tips and tricks to help your M9 last longer

Despite boasting a slightly higher-capacity battery than its predecessor, the HTC One M9 hasn’t brought about a huge jump in battery life compared to the M8. There’s still a lot of power-hungry hardware to run, and as such the M9 is good for about a day of use most of the time. Like most phones, more intensive use might have you reaching for your charging cable before the end of the day.

Microsoft’s new Office Delve app for Android lets users view their shared documents


Microsoft’s latest Android app is Office Delve, which lets business users of Office 365 to look quickly through shared documents via a card-based user interface.

Microsoft seems to be making a bigger effort to support Android apps. Recently it made a deal with Samsung and other hardware companies to pre-load Microsoft apps on their Android devices.

Microsoft’s new Office Delve app for iPhone lets users view their shared documents


Microsoft’s latest iPhone app is Office Delve, which lets business users of Office 365 to look quickly through shared documents via a card-based user interface.

Microsoft seems to be making a bigger effort to support iPhones in general and Office apps in particular. That includes adding support to store Office files on the iPhone in Dropbox accounts. Here’s what Microsoft has to say about the new Office Delve app, which is only for business Office 365 subscribers:

These mobile apps can notify you about updates to files you are actively engaged with at any given time. With a single swipe, you can catch up on what’s new and relevant to your day—no matter where you are— with pivots on content and people.

In the past few months Microsoft has launched iPhone-exclusive apps such as Office Sway, the SNIPP3T celebrty tracking app, and a beta for its Project Phoenix expense report app.

EU reportedly set to file formal antitrust charges against Google


The European Commission is reportedly close to filing formal antitrust charges against Google.

While no charges have been filed yet, a report out of The Wall Street Journal claims that the European Union Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager, has decided to move the years-long antitrust investigation forward after a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge on US Cellular now receiving Lollipop update


Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge owners on US Cellular can now update their devices to Lollipop.

US Cellular is now rolling out the Lollipop update to owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The update, which bumps the device to Android 5.0.1, is available as an over-the-air update as well as through Samsung’s Kies software on Windows PCs.

AltConf 2015 taking place June 8-12; four new speakers announced


AltConf, the alternative WWDC conference, will take place June 8-12 in San Francisco.

AltConf is a week-long, volunteer-driven event for developers. As it traditionally does, AltConf will take place alongside WWDC, which will also be taking place from June 8-12.

AltConf 2015 will be held in the AMC Metreon, with 1,000 seats over three theaters, and will feature talks and panel discussions over the course of the week. The conference has re-opened its call for speakers for a limited time, until Sunday, April 19 at midnight PDT. They have also announced four more speakers:

  • Gwynne Raskind of blog.darkrainfall.org
  • Ray Wenderlich of raywenderlich.com
  • James Dempsey of jamesdempsey.net
  • Brent Simmons of inessential.com

They join previously-announced speakers like Brianna Wu of Giant Spacekat, Laura Savino of Khan Academy, and Jay Freeman of Cydia.

Tickets to AltConf are free, though you can purchase a “Hero Supporter” ticket for $300. These are in limited quantity, and naturally, come with some extras. Hero Supporters will have guaranteed seating and a swag bag. AltConf will take place in the AMC Metreon, with 1,000 seats over three theaters.

Spec-heavy Le Superphone coming to the US from China’s Letv


Letv, a China-based company that offers streaming video services and hardware, has plans to enter the US market later in 2015 with a high-end Android-based smartphone, Le Superphone.

The hardware specs for Le Superphone sound very impressive on paper, and could offer an alternative to devices like the Samsung Galaxy S6 if Letv follows through on its announcements.
