Yup, there’s a Sodastream for cocktails
Our modern consumer age hasn’t been kind to SodaStream, since bottles of soda are cheap enough that you don’t need to make your own at home. Thankfully, the company has finally worked out that cola-addicted teens aren’t its future customers, but drunk adults who want something fancy for cocktail parties. That’s why the firm has teamed up with name-brand designer Yves Behar (he’s previously designed the SodaStream Source) to develop the SodaStream Mix, which is one part CO2 injector and one part internet of things device. You see, Mix can’t be a buzzy new gadget unless it’s connected to the cloud (it is), and the company has also baked in Bluetooth and app compatibility as well.
Touch the screen and cycle through to the alcohol section and you’ll be presented with a variety of recipes for you to follow. When done, insert the mix into the SodaStream and hey, the hardware will carbonate it. The company promises that the device can compensate for the differing fluid density levels of each drink, so it’ll ramp up (or down) the fizz for a drink with pulped fruit compared to a whiskey sour. There’s no word yet on how much this costs, or even if you’ll be able to buy it, but there’s one idea we want to leave you with: Fizzy Cocktails.

Popular instant messaging app Whatsapp has finally embraced the new design focus of Android 5.0 Lollipop and updated their app for material design.
Included also in this version is WhatsApp voice calling for all, whereas previously it was for a select few based on an invite system:
WhatsApp Calling: Call your friends and family using WhatsApp for free, even if they’re in another country. WhatsApp calls use your phone’s Internet connection rather than your cellular plan’s voice minutes. Data charges may apply.

Samsung Creates Team of About 200 Employees Working Exclusively on Apple Products
Samsung has created a standalone team of about 200 employees working exclusively on displays for Apple products, according to Bloomberg Business. The report claims the secretive team was formed on April 1 to build screens for iPads and MacBooks, develop products and help with sales.
The newly formed team implies that the relationship between Apple and Samsung, two fierce technology rivals, may be improving after the two companies spent millions of dollars fighting each other in the courtroom. Samsung was also recently awarded the majority of orders for Apple’s A9 chip for next-generation products.
“Samsung is relying more on its display and semiconductor units after falling into a tie with Apple for leadership of the global smartphone market. Relations between the companies thawed after they dropped all lawsuits against each other outside the U.S., and Apple is now the biggest external customer for Samsung components, one of the people familiar said.”
LG Display also has a standalone team dedicated to Apple, the supplier’s biggest U.S. customer, according to the report.
OnePlus expects to sell 3 to 5 million smartphones this year

OnePlus may not be a household brand quite yet, but the company is anticipating that its global smartphone sales will reach between 3 and 5 million units this year. Not bad for a small company with only a single product on the market right now. Bloomberg’s video report (above) contains some other interesting titbits about the growing Chinese manufacturer as well.
Interestingly, Canalys research suggests that combined Europe and North America sales make up the bulk of OnePlus’ revenue, unlike Chinese rivals such as Xiaomi. This suggests that the controversial invite system has worked out in the company’s favour, allowing it to keep tight control over stock and costs while still meeting foreign demand. East Asia accounts for a substantial 39 percent portion of its sales, while India, the company’s next target market with its own dedicated invite system, has already grabbed a 7 percent share.
Although costing substantially less, the OnePlus One rivalled the hardware of most flagships last year.
Speaking of growth, OnePlus is looking to Silicon Valley to help the company expand into new markets. Rather than seeking additional funding, co-founder Carl Pei says that the company is lean enough to turn a profit, OnePlus is looking for experienced senior staff to help push the company forward. OnePlus aims to become a platform host for software developers within the next five years, according to CEO Pete Lau. The newly developed Oxygen OS could be the starting point for this venture.
The report also reaffirms that two new OnePlus smartphones will be heading our way this year. The flagship OnePlus Two will arrive in the third quarter and another unspecified cheaper model will hit the market by the end of the year. Unfortunately, we don’t know much else about these upcoming phones, but they could be key if OnePlus is to push through the 3 million sales mark by the end of 2015.
Nuance partners with Samsung to use the Gear S smartwatch as a physician’s dictation device
Samsung’s Gear S is an interesting smartwatch; it runs Tizen firmware and has cellular connectivity along with having a curved 2-inch AMOLED display. Now it seems that Nuance, the company behind the Dragon – Naturally Speaking software, want’s to turn the Gear S into a dictation tool for physicians, according to an announcement at the 2015 Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference being held in Chicago.
Nuance has developed an app called PowerMic that can turn any iOS or Android smartphone or, in this case, the Gear S smart watch, allowing physicians to both dictate and edit information using Dragon Medical 360.
Vice President of Vertical Business at Samsung Electronics America, Ted Brodheim said. “Our Gear S like its predecessor smart watches, keeps health and fitness monitoring as a key feature, so this extension of Gear S to improve the healthcare experience is a natural partnership.
There is also another feature being demonstrated called Florence, a virtual assistant that will boost physician productivity. Physicians will be able to record vital signs, interact with patient alerts, document telephone conversations and place medication, lab and medication orders. It all sounds intriguing, and anything that can help reduce the pressure on physicians in pressure situations can only be a good thing.

We love a good icon pack here at AndroidSPIN, so when we heard djskarpia was coming out with a new icon pack, we had to take a look. The icon pack is called Miu – if you think that sounds a lot like the MIUI theme, that’s because the Miu icon pack is based on MIUI, specifically in the style of MIUI 6. As expected, the icon pack is bathed in bright, saturated colours and the icons are square with rounded corners. It’s a tried and true formula, and djskarpia manages to put his own unique spin on them.
The Miu icon pack is available right now for $0.99, and for less than a solitary dollar you will get over 2,500 customized icons and 22 cloud based wallpapers. There’s also Muzei and Behance support if that’s your thing, and there’s support for pretty much any major custom launcher you can think of. If you like what you see, you can hit the Play Store link below to get them now, and be sure to follow djskarpia (Andrea Corvi) on Google+ to see what he’s working on next.

It almost feels like the Sony Xperia Z4 has already been released based on the number of leaks it has endured, but we shouldn’t have long to wait for it to be official if the latest round of rumours are to be believed. According to the grapevine, April 20th is the day to circle on the calendar for the Xperia Z4’s announcement and will have an event for it in Sony‘s native Japan.
We’re not expecting much from the Xperia Z4 – design-wise, leaks have pointed to a device that looks exactly the same as the Xperia Z3, but of course that means all the improvements have happened on the inside. We have heard that the Xperia Z4 will have the latest and greatest Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB RAM as well as either a Full HD or Quad HD display depending on what region variant you get. As has been the case with Sony’s last few releases, the Xperia Z4 isn’t going to set the world on fire with its design, but if you have a soft spot for its design and you want the latest hardware, you probably can’t go wrong with the Xperia Z4.
What do you think about an April 20th launch date for the Sony Xperia Z4? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
