Nokia reportedly discussing the possible sale of its HERE maps division

A new story says that Nokia is reportedly “exploring” the idea of selling off its HERE Maps division.

The company may decide to ditch the maps business in part to concentrate its time on its wireless network division. HERE Maps is already getting some interest from other companies and private-equity firms, according to Bloomberg’s unnamed sources. It adds:

The Finnish company, which is working with a financial adviser, may decide against a sale if it can’t get a price it deems sufficient, the people said. HERE reported full-year sales of 970 million euros and an operating loss of 1.24 billion euros, including a goodwill impairment of 1.21 billion euros, according to the annual report. In January, Nokia projected rising sales for its maps and patents divisions for 2015.

Nokia launched a version of HERE Maps for the iPhone and iPad in 2012 but pulled it from the App Store in late 2013. HERE Maps returned to the iPhone in March 2015.

How to report iMessage spam in iOS 8.3

If you’ve ever received spam in the form of an iMessage, it’s a good idea to report it as junk to Apple.

While you’ve always been able to report iMessages as spam, you can now do it in a lot fewer steps if you’re running iOS 8.3 or above. Reporting junk iMessages will help Apple to remove spammer accounts from their servers, making iMessage a much happier place for everyone. In order to report an iMessage as junk, just follow these steps:

Keep in mind that you’ll only see an option to mark a message as junk if it’s an iMessage, meaning a blue bubble message. Green bubble, or regular SMS, messages won’t have the junk option. You can however completely block both iMessages and text messages. So if you’re having a problem with green bubble spam, you can follow our guide on how to block someone from contacting you at all.

How to report an iMessage as junk on iPhone and iPad

  1. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 8.3 or newer.
  2. Tap on Messages.
  3. Turn On the option for Filter Unknown Senders.
  4. Launch the Messages app.
  5. At the very top of your messages list (you have have to pull down), tap on the Unknown Senders tab.
  6. All messages from unknown senders appear here. Tap on the message thread you want to report as junk.
  7. Tap on Report Junk underneath the message.
  8. Tap on Delete and Report Junk in the popup menu.
  9. That’s it. Apple will receive a junk message report and it will automatically be removed from your device.

Multiple admin feature for BBM Channels now available

Back at the beginning of March, BlackBerry pushed out an update to BBM and one of the highlights of that specific release was a mention of the ability to have multiple BBM Channel contributors through the BBM Channels online portal. For whatever reason, that function never appeared, and it was never mentioned again. That left many people wondering where it went and while we still don’t have an answer for that, it has now finally gone live. As expected, it’s fairly easy to add a new contributor to your channel.

Sprint’s new international roaming plan offers unlimited 2G data for no extra charge

Sprint has launched a new international roaming plan for customers visiting Latin America, Japan, and Europe.

Sprint’s new International Value Roaming will give customers unlimited 2G data and texting while in a number of Latin American and European countries, as well as Japan. International Value Roaming is available free of charge, and can be easily added to any existing Sprint plan.

Beginning today, Sprint is introducing International Value Roaming, giving customers the ability to travel to major areas in Latin America, Europe and Japan and roam with up to 2G speeds to read emails and surf the web at no additional charge. Additionally, they can send unlimited text messages for no extra charge, and they can call anywhere in the world from these countries for 20 cents per minute

Those looking for faster data speeds can purchase an International Speed Data Roaming pass, which offers 3G data speeds for a certain amount of data, throttling back down to 2G speeds after the data limit is reached. A $15 day pass will get you 100MB of 3G data, while for $25 you can get 300MB for seven days. You can also get 500MB of 3G data for 14 days for $50.

A look at the Apple Watch rollout at Apple’s Fifth Ave NYC store

Curious customers anxious to see the Apple Watch in person lined up outside Apple’s Fifth Avenue store in NYC this morning to take a look.

iMore was there, thanks to the intrepid videography and photography of our own Mark Guim. While the Watch doesn’t actually become available until April 24th, Apple Stores around the world are welcoming customers to actually go try them on beginning today!

Prospective Apple Watch buyers were able to get their hands — or their wrists, at least — on the new device, trying them on, seeing how they worked, and asking questions of the Apple Store employees who were there to assist them.

Apple Watches come in a variety of sizes and styles, with lots of bands to choose from too.

Already, pre-order sales have gone into overdrive, with customers only now getting around to placing their orders being told to expect to wait until June before theirs will arrive.
