‘Postal’ admitted to Amazon Appstore, continues to be blocked from Google Play
This week, the game Postal was blocked from being distributed through the Amazon Appstore and Google Play. Why? The game, which is part of a series launched in 1997, features graphic content. Being blocked from the Amazon Appstore and Google Play is quite an issue considering the amount of users accessible through those digital storefronts.
Running with Scissors, the developer behind Postal, was served with notices from Amazon and Google that the game is too violent and thus does not meet their guidelines. Amazon’s rejection notice was not detailed, but Google specifically claimed that the game is “gratuitously violent.” Running with Scissors’ Mike Jaret-Schachter took to Twitter to voice his disappointment with the decision. He specifically noted games like Grand Theft Auto III being available to consumers.
Fortunately, Amazon did acknowledge that Postal should have a place in the Appstore and it is now available. Google, though, has not commented on the matter and Postal remains blocked from the Play Store.

In our full review, we explained that the Moto 360 was one of the best Android Wear devices out there. While the battery life isn’t the best and the processor could use an upgrade, it’s still one of the only completely round smartwatches on the market, and we’d have no problem recommending this product to anyone looking for their first wearable. For more information on the Moto 360, check out our full review.
We’re sure this major price drop has a lot to do with the Apple Watch going on sale today, but whatever the case, we’re happy to see a great product receive such a big discount. To pick one up for yourself, head to the source links below.
JXE Training Day: What is ‘League of Legends?’ An expert explains
Look no further than the world of eSports for a concrete example of how the very idea of popular culture has warped in the past decade. Just because something is popular with an enormous group of people, that doesn’t mean that it’s truly ubiquitous. When most people see the word “baseball” around the world, they can conjure up the basics. eSports, and all of the many very different games that fall under that banner, still occupy a weird, weird space. Take League of Legends, arguably the most popular eSport in the world. The League of Legends World Championship can net 32 million viewers and all of those viewers can still be called “crazy” by successful, seemingly popular sports reporters while scholarships for League of Legends college players are laughed at. Just because there are millions of fans, that doesn’t mean everyone knows what they’re fans of.
Engadget will be your guide into this world of competition. If you don’t know what eSports are, what a MOBA is or what a League of Legends may be, then we have a show for you. JXE Training Day is a regular eSports show for beginners, introducing competitive games and how to look at them. Our first series begins with an extensive, bi-weekly look at League of Legends.
Our very episode of Training Day will go live at 3PM ET today on Twitch.tv/Joystiq, Engadget.com/gaming, and right here in this post. Come meet our host Loc Tran, a League of Legends tutor and captain of San Jose State University’s ClickAway – Dream Team, as he explains precisely what League of Legends and what a MOBA actually are.

Cricket Wireless released the Samsung Grand Prime today for all of those that want a premium smartphone without the premium price. Starting at 179.99, the Samsung Grand Prime comes with a sizable 5″ qHD display, a quad-core processor, a 5 MP front facing camera and an 8 MP rear camera. It is also worth mentioning that the Samsung Grand Prime is running Android 4.4 and carries a large 2600 mAh battery. These are some impressive specs when you consider that the price is what others pay for, but you are not being tied down with a 2-year contract.
Speaking of contracts, Cricket is also running a limited time only special where they will give you a free month of service after you complete 2 month of service when you switch over from T-Mobile, Metro-PCS, Sprint, Boost and others. You must also select the $50 or $60 monthly plan for it to be credited to your account. This is a great deal for those that have been wanting to cut ties with their current caries in favor of a contract-less service provider.
Is the Samsung Grand Prime and a promise of a free month of service enough to make you switch? Make sure to drop us a comment below and give us your thoughts!

Android powered tablet hits the battlefield in close air support demonstration
During a recent training exercise, “Talon Reach” held in Arizona, DARPA successfully tested a new system for Forward Air Controllers to call in air strikes that made use of Android-powered tablets in place of more traditional radios and hardened laptop devices. The tablets ran a program called Persistent Close Air Support, or PCAS, that was able to communicate with a counterpart program on board air support, known as PCAS-Air, in order to call in an air strike. DARPA and the military believe the new system will give Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) the ability to order air strikes more quickly and with greater precision, even under chaotic and stressful conditions.
The PCAS system consists of “intuitive software” that uses satellite imagery, real time intelligence and surveillance data, and “easy to fill in fields” that JTACs can use to provide information to their air support, a package of information known as a “Nine Line” brief. Once the briefing information is received by the PCAS-Air portion of the system, the target is located on a map and an attack solution is generated. One key component is the ability of the system to recognize and be aware of the locations of friendlies which should help reduce the possibility of fratricide occurring.
One sign of the successful test of the system was the time it took for the JTAC and their air support, in this case a V-22 Osprey, to deliver a Griffin Missile payload on target to a position right next to an abandoned truck. According to DARPA,
The length of time from initiation by the JTAC to missile impact on target was just over four minutes—even better than PCAS’ goal of six minutes, and more than seven times faster than the half hour or more it can take using current methods that rely on voice directions and paper maps.
Although Android may be at the heart of the tablets used for the new system, DARPA has created their own, unique interface layer called Kinetic Integrated Low-cost SoftWare Integrated Tactical Combat Handheld, or KILSWITCH. According to sources, KILSWITCH has been employed in different scenarios over the past couple years, but this is the first time it has been integrated with air support.
During Talon Reach, another test of the KILSWITCH enabled tablets involved some Marine units attempting to engage adversaries. The night mission involved two groups of Marines who needed to coordinate their efforts. One of the groups launched a small, unmanned air vehicle that provided, among other capabilities, network relay services. Once launched, all of the KILSWITCH tablets from both groups were able to sync up providing both groups the ability to determine the locations of friendlies and coordinate their attack.
One of the benefits of an increasingly technology-enabled world is that members of the military can be kept safer. The downside is that the use of technologies introduces a new attack vector for the enemy to try to disrupt operations. Although we can expect to see more use of advanced technology on the battlefield, backup systems will remain a key component.

Beats Launches New Solo2 Wireless Headphones in iPhone Colors
Apple-owned headphone company Beats by Dre today announced the launch of several new Solo2 Wireless headphones, in colors that match Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and new MacBook. Available in Gold, Silver, and Space Gray, the headphones are otherwise identical to the company’s existing Solo2 Wireless headphones.
The Solo2 Wireless on-ear headphones were released in November, and were the first product released by Beats since Apple’s acquisition of the company officially closed. The Solo2 Wireless are a wireless version of the wired Solo2 headphones that are a staple in the Beats headphone lineup.

New Day. New Colors. http://t.co/1dyApkPQGj #Solo2Wireless pic.twitter.com/XXfkTPeUc5
— Beats By Dre (@beatsbydre) April 10, 2015
Both the Gold and Silver varieties of the new Solo2 Wireless headphones feature white accents and ear cups, while the Space Gray version includes black accents and black ear cups, for an accurate match to Apple’s line of Gold, Silver, and Space Gray devices.
Solo2 Wireless offers the same dynamic sound and streamlined design as Solo2, but with the added benefit of wireless capabilities. With its Bluetooth technology, Solo2 Wireless can move freely for up to 30 feet from your audio device. Take phone calls, skip songs, and change the volume using the “b” button and volume buttons on the ear cup. Its rechargeable battery allows you to enjoy up to 12 hours of wireless playback. Not charged? Not a problem. Just plug in the provided RemoteTalkTM cable and enjoy your music.
Apple has largely taken over the Beats business, with the headphones being sold in Apple Stores rather than on the Beats website and all Beats support being handled by Apple support representatives, both online and in retail locations. Despite this, products being sold today are still those that have been designed without Apple’s guidance, and it remains unclear when we might see new headphone lines created with Apple’s technology and design influence.
The new Solo2 Wireless headphones can be purchased from the online Apple Store for $299.95 and will ship out in one business day. They aren’t available in retail stores yet, but should be popping up at Apple Stores over the next few days.

It is always a sad day when a great device sees the end of its life and has to be discontinued. Google stopped manufacturing the Nexus 5 last year and starting today, it will also no longer sell it directly via the Google Play Store. With the Nexus 6, and many other great devices on the market, Google’s decision does make sense from a business standpoint. For those of you that still wish to procure a device for nostalgia’s sake, we are sure that you can snag one up on eBay and other third-party sellers. If you have any fond memories of your Nexus 5 and wish to share them, make sure to do so via the comments sections below.
