Google planning on helping users to connect with handymen in new service
Google’s latest project will be to help users and home maintenance workers connect with each other easier through search results. This service is expected to be announced later this year during the company’s annual advertising summit, and will give handymen special links like the search engine does with flights, hotel rooms, and other products. You can bet that’ll get worked into Google Now at some point, too.
Local repair work is tough for companies to capitalize on because of how segmented and regional all of it is, but that hasn’t stopped some big names from trying to tackle the issue. Amazon recently launched a similar service, and although Google probably won’t be contracting out work for you, it’ll make it easier for you to find someone in the area that will come fix your sink or repair your roof.
Other details on the service are pretty scarce at this point, but we’ll definitely know more later in the year.
