AppleCare+ for the Apple Watch Edition said to cost as much as $999

by John_A

Getting AppleCare+ for your shiny new Apple Watch Edition will reportedly cost you $999.

As we previously reported, the Apple Watch Edition will come with an extra level of care already, with a two-year warranty and two years of free technical support. In contrast, both the Sport and stainless steel models come with a one-year limited warranty, and 90 days of support. AppleCare+ will extend the Edition’s warranty to three years, but you’ll need to be ready to pay, according to 9to5Mac:

To go along with the premium $10,000 and up pricing of the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition, Apple will charge up to $999 for the Apple Watch Edition’s AppleCare+ Protection Plan, 9to5Mac has learned. The Apple Watch Edition notably has very different AppleCare coverage from other Apple Watch models, coming with two years of 24/7 support and a special setup hotline right out of the box.

For the Apple Watch Sport and stainless steel Apple Watch, AppleCare+ pricing is said to cost $59 and $79, respectively. AppleCare+ for those models will add a second year to your watch’s hardware warranty, two years of free technical support, and two incidents of accidental damage, a perk which also extends to the Edition, and will be subject to a service fee.

While it hasn’t been explicitly stated, it’s likely that customers will be able to order AppleCare+ for their Apple Watch when pre-orders and in-store previews begin on April 10.
