Microsoft details a workaround for virtual machine bug in Windows 10 build 10049
Microsoft has gone into more detail today about a nasty bug affecting machine virtualization in the recently-released Windows 10 build 10049.
Windows 10 build 10049 was released just yesterday, but it was recommended that those running virtual machines hold off on updating due to a bug with virtualization software Hyper-V.

Foxit MobilePDF Reader comes to Windows and Windows Phone as a universal app
Over 275 million people use Foxit Reader (foxitsoftware.com) as their PDF reader on their computers. If you’re a Windows Phone user, you can now install the company’s MobilePDF Reader on your phone. Microsoft tells us what to expect in the new Music and Video Preview apps for Windows 10
Earlier today, we reported that the new Music and Video Preview apps for Windows 10 were ready to download. Replacing the existing apps, these new versions strongly resemble the old ones but they are re-written to be universal Windows apps for Phone, Xbox, and PC.
Microsoft has now blogged about the release, remarking on the current status of the apps, what to look for, and what to expect in the coming updates.
BES12 Cloud webcast to be held on April 9th
With BES 12 Cloud now officially announced and launched, BlackBerry will be hosting a live BES12 Cloud webcast on April 9th, 2015 at 11:00 EDT introducing the flexible and cost-effective mobility management offering. Presenters will be, Jef Gadway, Director of Enterprise Product Marketing at BlackBerry and Mohammed Ahmed, Enterprise Product Marketing Manager at BlackBerry. The session will last around 45 mins and be followed up by a Q&A session.
Lollipop update available for T-Mobile LG G3 through LG’s mobile support tool
LG G3 owners who are willing to hop on a computer and use LG’s support tool will be able to update their T-Mobile LG G3 to Lollipop.
The Lollipop update for the T-Mobile LG G3 is now available through the LG mobile support tool. While the update doesn’t appear to be pushing out over-the-air yet, a quick connection to your computer will allow you to update now.
Samsung starts April Fool’s early with the Galaxy Blade Edge ‘smart knife’
April Fools might still be a day away for most of us, but that’s not stopping companies from celebrating a bit early with their own little pranks. For Samsung, their April Fools announcement is yet another edge-display variant of the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy BLADE Edge. Samsung Tomorrow bills the new (and completely made-up) device as the world’s first smart knife, containing the same internals as the Galaxy S6 and even running Android with Touchwiz, but a super sharp edge that’s perfect for cutting.
Samsung’s says its knife-phone has a diamond-cut ceramic body that’s razor-sharp and “tougher than stainless steel yet lighter than plastic”. There’s also the ability to chop/cut/slice/dice 50% faster than before, “sensors and algorithms that analyze your grip, dexterity, and strength to set the weight in optimal proportion to create the perfect rhythm and inertia.”
Things get even crazier when Samsung goes into Knox Security and how finger detection prevents you from getting cut, specialized software features, and there’s also mention of several customizable handles made of ceramic, steel, olivewood, or mammoth tusk. Google unveils four new budget-friendly Chromebooks for under $250
Alongside the announcement of its Chrome OS-powered Chromebit, Google has announced four new Chromebooks aimed at folks who are on a budget. To start off the list, the Haier Chromebook 11 and the Hisense Chromebook are the cheapest of the four, available now for pre-order for just $149. Since these Chrome devices are so inexpensive, both the Haier and Hisense laptops are made of a black plastic material that seem very resilient to scratches and bumps. Both laptops have 11.6-inch screens with 1366×768 resolution and 200 nits of brightness, though the Hisense is slightly heavier and bigger overall. In addition, Haier has also launched another Chromebook aimed at the education field, called the Haier Chromebook 11E. The 11E is just like the Haier 11, though it has a water and spill-resistant chassis, a built-in handle and a removable battery.

Arguably the most interesting Chromebook launched today is made by ASUS. It’s called the ASUS Chromebook Flip, and it boasts a thickness of only 15mm and a 10.1-inch display that be flipped around 360 degrees. The IPS display is a touch screen as well, and will automatically pull up the proper on-screen touch controls when the laptop is in a different orientation. So, if the screen is turned all the way around (like in the press photo above), the Chromebook will recognize that and bring up the proper controls automatically. The Chromebook Flip will be available for $249. Last but not least is the ASUS Chromebook C201. It has an 11.6-inch display and will be available for $169 later this Spring on Amazon.
All of the Chromebooks listed above come with a Rockchip 3288 processor, a Mali 760 GPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 720p front-facing camera. Additionally, all Chromebooks come with two USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. The Hisense and Haier Chromebooks will be available from Amazon and Walmart in mid-April, though you can pre-order both of them now. Both ASUS Chromebooks will be available from Amazon sometime this Spring.
Raw speed test pits the Galaxy S6 Edge against the iPhone 6
The latest flagship device from Samsung boasts the most powerful processor on the market, enough RAM to equal some consumer computers, and a state of the art curved display; but how does it stack up against the competition? Sure, it’s one of the best Android devices on the market, but what about the offering from Apple?
The video below puts the Galaxy S6 Edge up against the iPhone 6 with the same set of apps installed in a battle of raw speed.
Opening all 16 apps took 2 minutes 9 seconds on the S6 Edge while it took 2 minutes 17 seconds on the iPhone 6. Perhaps the tests weren’t fair since the apps could have been loaded in memory running in the background thanks to Androids’ multitasking, or maybe it really is the fastest out of the two.

LG invitations may signal April 28 arrival of G4
LG has sent out invitations to events being held on April 28th and April 29th in New York, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul. The invite reads “See the great, feel the great,” with each “G” stylized as the logo of the LG G lineup. Likely, this will be the G4.
9to5Google explains that, earlier this month, a report claimed that LG willingly planned to delay the launch of this years flagship to April in order to avoid competition from Samsung and HTC. Additionally, LG released similar looking invites last year for events that became the launch for the G3. Together, these details suggest that the G4 indeed will be unveiled near the end of next month.
