Next Pebble smartwatch aims to be “more everything,” might feature modular components
We don’t know what Pebble has up their sleeve for their next smartwatch, but the company says the new watch (which should be out early next year) is going to be “more everything.” While that’s an incredibly vague PR statement that tells us absolutely nothing about the watch, they did clarify a little later.
The new Pebble smartwatch is aiming to be much more customizable than what you see today. Customers should expect more control over their watch over just metal or plastic, and the options should vary beyond just swappable wristbands. The big new development in tech is modular components, so there’s a possibility that we may some Project Ara-esque elements to the new Pebble smartwatch.
Whatever the company is planning, they’re not telling us anything else until early next year when the watch itself is released. Fortunately, that’s only a few months away.
