Google+ will AutoAwesome your year in pictures and videos

With the year wrapping up, it’s always great to look back on what you accomplished in the past year.

Facebook does this for you with its Year in Review feature and now Google is going to do just the name with with Google+ and #AutoAwesome

You may be familiar with some of the most recent #AutoAwesome features, such as the newest that adds falling snow to your photographs, but Google just announced one more feature, the “#AutoAwesome year in review.”

As with all Google+ updates, your account will be updated automatically, as long as you’ve been uploading photos and videos all year, and you will be notified when your version is ready to share.

Google will then automatically sort through you photos, choose the best content and create a sideshow made up of your photos and videos from the year.

Notifications about the update are expected to start rolling out in the next week or so.

Disney locks down a Christmas deal, 12 apps on sale for $0.49

Disney Games and Apps on Sale for AndroidLooking to fill your phone or tablet full of Disney games to keep your kids entertained before the holiday festivities? I know I am. It looks like Disney pulled in some favors and has managed to get, for now, 12 games in the their Play Store portfolio on sale for $0.49. Last I checked, but I could be wrong, the lowest price you can list an app for is $0.99. So, what do you look to gain? Well, you could hit up their developer page and take a look at all their apps for yourself, or just check out the ones on sale in the list below.

There are also a number of other games that have always been free, but are offering in-app purchase sales.

Better get to business, I’m sure the little ones will appreciate it. I wonder if it’s only 12 apps to hint towards the 12 days of Christmas, or if its just a handy coincidence.

Press Release

Will YOU become the hero of Fire Island?

Tin Man Games’ fourth Fighting Fantasy digital gamebook app, Island of the Lizard King, arrives on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad today, following a recent Android release on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore for Android.

Kidnapped by a vicious race of Lizard Men from Fire Island, the young men of Oyster Bay face a grim future of slavery, starvation and a lingering death. Their master will be the mad and dangerous Lizard King, who holds sway over his land of mutants by the strange powers of black magic. Will YOU risk all in an attempt to save the prisoners?

Smart phone and tablet users can now take a voyage to the infamous Fire Island. Tin Man Games has taken the classic Fighting Fantasy solo adventure and transformed it into an interactive digital experience, using their critically acclaimed gamebook engine. With animated page-turning, dynamic links, an automated adventure sheet to show changing stats and inventory, the reader can also roll physics-based 3D dice to bravely fight the myriad of strange denizens that inhabit the jungles and swamps.

Ian Livingstone, co-creator of the Fighting Fantasy series and author of Island of the Lizard King, said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Tin Man Games on this project. They have succeeded brilliantly in capturing the essence of Fighting Fantasy, re-imagining Island of the Lizard King for digital audiences. The new features are great, auto-mapping in particular, and readers will need all the help they can get to deal with the Gongchong and Lizard Men who are looking forward to welcoming hapless victims to their island!”

The Island of the Lizard King app makes good use of the latest smart phone and tablet hardware, using the increased screen space of tablets to read horizontally or vertically. A retro mode has been included for nostalgic Fighting Fantasy fans, which displays the classic black and white illustrations, while those readers who want full colour can see those same images beautifully rendered.

Fighting Fantasy: Island of the Lizard King is now available to download from the iOS App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore for Android. It costs $5.99 USD/£3.99/ 5,49 €.

‘Evasi0n’ Untethered Jailbreak Updated for Newer iPhones, iPads and iOS 7.x

The popular Evasi0n jailbreak has been today updated for iOS 7.x., marking the first time users have been able to deploy an untethered jailbreak on any device running iOS 7.0 to iOS 7.0.4, including newer devices such as the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5c, iPad mini with Retina Display, and iPad Air. The method allows for users to jailbreak their devices to make use of unauthorized like themes, tweaks, and apps from sources other than the App Store.

evasi0n_ios_7
However, Cydia administrator Jay Freeman noted on his Twitter that he was not informed about a new version of Evasi0n before its release, also indicating that the build of Cydia installed with the new jailbreak is not official and may lead to some compatibility issues with existing downloads on the service. However, users on our forums are actively pointing out which Cydia apps are compatible with the new jailbreak, and it is recommended you look there for specific information.

Evasi0n is available now for OS X and Windows as an untethered jailbreak, with users only having to apply the method once. Tethered jailbreaks requires users to have their devices connected to a computer each time they restart.

BLU’s Life Pure smartphone delivers 1080p, a 13-megapixel camera and 32GB of space for $349

BLU Life Pure

BLU Products can offer a lot of smartphone for the money, but its devices seldom come with the sharp screens and ample memory that you’d expect from rivals. The company is closing that gap with its new Life Pure, however. The $349 unlocked handset carries the same 5-inch, 1080p screen that you’ve seen on flagships from the past year, including the HTC Droid DNA; it even stuffs in a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera and 32GB of storage, giving it more overall media prowess than a similarly-priced Nexus 5. With that said, you won’t want to chuck your reference Google phone out the window just yet. The Life Pure is running on a slower 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek chip (albeit with 2GB of RAM), doesn’t include LTE and uses Android 4.2. This isn’t an early adopter’s phone, then. Still, we can see some buyers trading performance for features when the Life Pure goes on sale in the near future.

iPhone 5s and 5c to reach China Mobile on January 17th, 2014

iPhone 5s and 5c

Finally. Following a false start a couple of weeks ago, Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 5s and 5c will reach China Mobile on January 17th, 2014 as part of a multi-year deal. As hinted earlier, both smartphones will support the carrier’s TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA networks. Pricing isn’t available just yet, but customers can pre-register starting on December 25th. The partnership is Apple’s largest yet, at least in terms of sheer numbers — even if only a small fraction of China Mobile’s 700 million-plus customers buy iPhones, they’re bound to significantly improve Cupertino’s bottom line.
